Election Day Open Thread – Turnout and Problems

Election Day Open Thread – Turnout and Problems

Happy Election Day.

Welcome to Election Day 2024. It’s fitting it falls on November 5th.

Milwaukee Recounting 31,000 Ballots

Yup. Insanity:

Several hours after starting to count absentee ballots at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, officials at Milwaukee’s Central Count discovered there was an issue with the sealing of the tabulation machines.

All 13 of the machines involved are currently being reset out of an overabundance of caution.

When the machines are reset, all 31,000 ballots will be re-run through the machines.

Harris Phone Banking?

Did Harris really call a voter? It looks like she had her camera app open!

Bomb Threat in Georgia

The Georgia secretary of state said the non-credible bomb threats in Fulton County came from Russia.

I just don’t know what to ever believe, especially when it concerns Fulton County. You know, the county whose district attorney is trying to jail Trump.

This election cycle has turned me into a conspiracy theorist.

Trump and Melania Vote in Palm Beach

The Trumps cast their votes in Palm Beach, FL:

“I feel very confident,” Trump said. “I have felt, you know, we went in with a very big lead today and it looks like Republicans have shown up in force. So we’ll see how it turns out.”

Asked if he had any regrets about his third campaign for president, he said “you always have regrets” but that “I can’t think of any, to be honest.”

“I ran a great campaign. It was maybe the best of the three. We did great in the first one. We did much better in the second one, but something happened. And this was the best, I would say this was the best campaign we ran.”

The Republican nominee acknowledged that the results of the election may not be known Tuesday night and complained about mail-in ballots. Asked if he could see a world where he does not declare victory on Tuesday, Trump said, “Yeah.”

“I mean, I’m hearing the same things that you’re hearing. I’m hearing states where I’m up by a lot but they won’t have a final number for a long time.”

Pennsylvania Extends Voting Hours in Cambria County

Voters in Cambria County have until 10PM ET to vote due to machine problems:

“The Cambria County Board of Election learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots,” County Solicitor Ron Repak said in a statement. “This should not discourage voters from voting at their precincts.”

Elections officials emphasized that no one who wishes to cast their ballot will be turned away and that all votes will be counted.

“All completed ballots will be accepted, secured, and counted by the Board of Elections. The County Board of Elections has express voting machine [sic] at precinct locations to continue to allow voting electronically, while still allowing hand ballots to be cast,” said Repak.

“In summary, all votes will be counted and we continue to encourage everyone to vote.”

The Pennsylvania Department of State said it was working with local officials to resolve the issue.

“The Department of State is in contact with county officials in Cambria County. Voters are continuing to vote by paper ballot, in accordance with normal operations, while the county resolves the issue with in-precinct scanning. We are working with the County to resolve this technical matter and remain committed to ensuring a free, fair, safe, and secure election.”

Russia, Russia, Russia!

Why, yes! Security officials sent out a warning that Russian actors have been trying to meddle in the election, eyeing the swing states.

I wrote about it in a separate post: Security Officials: Russia Trying to Meddle in Election, Target Swing States.

They had to do this, of course, so the left can scream RUSSIA if Trump wins.

Voting Machines Down in Two Republican Heavy Pennsylvania Counties

WEIRD!

Cambria and Bedford counties reported problems with voting machines and software.

Both are heavily Republican counties. Trump won both in 2020, 68% and 83%.

Trump, Harris Split Vote in Historic New Hampshire Midnight Voting

Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, has carried out midnight voting since 1960. The tiny town only has six residents.

Former President Donald Trump and VP Kamala Harris received three votes each.

And so the rig begins!

Florida results by bedtime.
The rest.. well…. they have a lot of work to do…

I’ll make the same prediction for months.

That multiple swing states are simply going to refuse to announce final results tonight, and that the REAL people that make the REAL decisions in the Democrat party are going to meet at around 11-12 PM to see how big the Trump win is, and make the decision if they’re going to steal it or not.

I also I think without the cover of the insane and illegal COVID nonsense that the win is simply going to be too big to risk stealing, so they’re going to be stuck with maybe just stealing a few Senate and House seats to try and hamstring Trump.

Honestly I doubt if Harris breaks 70 million votes, which will further expose how insane and ridiculous the idea Biden got 81 million was.

>>Cambria and Bedford counties reported problems with voting machines and software.<<

I just don't get it. How in the hell can these machines be having problems when allegedly both the machines and the software used on the machines are certified by the state to function correctly and are fit for their intended purpose. So what’s going on here. Why at the last very moment are these machines/software malfunctioning. Doesn’t do much to inspire confidence in our election system/process that ‘s for sure.

It’s called sabotage and we saw it in 2022 in Maricopa county.

This just beggars belief that an issue like this can just happen on election day!!! 🤔 The fact these States continue to use voting machines is also a bit of a joke!!

I took all three of the certification results papers for Michigan for ES&S (5 counties), Dominion (65 counties), and Hart (11 counties) in MI, and fed them all into Claude.ai for a 10 step security evaluation and had three runs to triple verify the results. I use this same process for verifying my software to make sure it’s air-right.

The final score was a 4.3/10 for security.

3/10 for System Components, and 2/10 for Data Transmission.

I’m a tech guy, and it’s time to move back to paper ballots and be done and counted before midnight.

Time to see if America’s trend to banana republic, police state status, will be reversed, or if we have to look forward to Musk’s prophecy.

What a surprise … we saw the voting machine sabotage gambit in 2022 n Maricopa AZ. It’s why I chose to vote early this time around.

Midnight voting sounds fun.

I waltzed in, assisted an elderly lady, cast my ballot and got rewarded with a sticker when it hit me…this is my 11th presidential election that I have voted in, all the way back to Reagan in 84!
Make America Great Again!

Incidentally, I voted in California this morning.

It’s actually insane. I walked in and simply gave my name and address.

Asked for zero ID, not even a driver’s license. Wasn’t even asked for my freaking SS number.

Literally just walked in, wrote down a name and address, and voted with ZERO verification that I was who I said I was.

It’s utterly insane and this is what Democrats want for the entire country.

Nah, you won’t be bothered to vote, they’ll just pick someone like they do now

MarkS in reply to Olinser. | November 5, 2024 at 1:13 pm

    Same here in Maryland

mailman in reply to Olinser. | November 5, 2024 at 1:50 pm

It is illegal to ask for ID when voting in California. Hence why it’s a Democratic super state because all those illegal aliens voting will NEVER vote for the party that will kick them out!

You know that California is circling the drain, why are you still there? Or are you in northern Ca, where things are a bit better? Just curious.

mailman in reply to gonzotx. | November 5, 2024 at 1:50 pm

    That is sketchy as fuck!

“Did the GOP not inspect the ballot before they were printed?
Did the RNC not inspect the ballot before they were printed?
Did the Trump campaign NOT inspect the ballot before they were printed?”

They ain’t gonna get to review NONE of the ballots printed individually on demand, like in Maricopa County!

tiny dot in box for Harris

Dark horse prediction – Kamala loses either New York, or California.

From a reader of McHenry County Blog from Algonquin, Illinois:

We went to vote at 6:15, small line of about 15 people.

One person acting the ass, wearing a Trump shirt and hat, told to go out and remove them as it was considered “Campaign Materials”; he wouldn’t listen until they called the cops who showed up promptly.

Eventually he wore a black plastic garbage bag over it to be allowed to vote, but what a start to the whole affair.

Also thought it was interesting that the polling station only had one ballot scanner, and it “had a paper jam” so we had to put our untallied ballots in the cabinet below.

All these issues; no paper, wrong size paper, printer malfunction, voting machine malfunction, tabulating machine errors, software problems, no ink, wrong ink….this sort of crap whether intentional or just incompetence is why the push for GoP to vote early was so important. All those votes are banked and not impacted by these low level shenanigans… which seem to routinely occur in heavy GoP precincts.

Until we get back to paper ballots, #2 pencils and in person voting only we gotta adapt to the rules and use the early voting period to mitigate the ‘sudden and surprising’ problems on election day.

Statistical anomalies are going to be noticed in real time today.

The Georgia secretary of state said the non-credible bomb threats in Fulton County came from Russia.

It’s almost impossible to tell where any phone call or email or text actually comes from. The only time the evidence is clear and obvious is when you have morons doing it, like Hunter Biden’s laptop – who the hell cannot be bothered to pay a couple of hundred dollars to retrieve their laptop with all their dirt on it?? Or Traitor Joe and the family’s tens of LLPs shuffling “loans” back and forth and all around to every member of the family …

Raffensberger is an idiot and a stooge. He cannot be gone soon enough. Frankly, he belongs in prison for what he has done – and just one action but a whole collection of criminal acts abusing his power.

Charlie Kirk says GOP is down by 600k votes in PA.

Georgia SoS lied, the bomb threat came from a Democrat election worker.

‘Dr’ Jill Biden went to the polling station this afternoon to cast her vote. She wore a SOLID RED pantsuit. Holy Moly. There is ZERO % chance that was an accident.

Yeah, he’s had that ‘just embalmed’ look for more than a year. I’m told that’s actually a symptom of frontotemporal lobe degeneration as its the frontal lobe that controls facial expressions. They simply disappear in advanced dementia patients…and this is all potentiated by Biden’s robust use of facelifts and Botox.

In a cringeworthy marketing miscalculation, a local ammo supplier in Tempe AZ is offering an “Election Day Special” today on cases of 223 Remington for your AR-15.

“Kamala Harris — allegedly speaking with a voter — clearly has the camera app open on the phone.”
Maybe she was wearing her “debating earrings.” I know my hearing aids let me do that.
And on this subject…: a Kamala joke:

Kamala Harris visited a remote northern Native-American reservation. With news crews following her around as they toured the place, the Vice President asked the chief if there was anything they needed.

“Well,” the chief said, “We have three very important needs. First, we have a medical clinic but no doctor.”

Harris whipped out her cellphone, tapped a number into it, talked to somebody for two minutes and then hung up. “I pulled some strings. Your doctor will arrive in a few days. Now what was the second problem?”

“We have no way to get clean water. The local mining operation poisoned the water our people have been drinking for dozens of years. We’ve been flying bottled water in and it is very expensive.”

Once again, Harris tapped in a number, yelled into her cellphone for a few minutes, and then hung up. “The mine will be shut down, and the owner is being billed for setting up a purification plant for your people. Now what was that third problem?”

The chief looked her straight in the eyes and said, “We have no cellphone reception up here!!”

(H/T to Eaton Rapids Joe)

I came through downtown Portland around 2PM and lots of buildings along SW 6th were boarded. Key Bank at NE39th/Sandy was fully boarded and two guys were ripping sheets of 1/2″ ply to cover the adjacent BoA. All lanes of I5 were full and appeared to be stop and go over the River.

I just voted in Scottsdale AZ in the last hour (at the mortuary :>)

what a beauty pageant, there were enough young women 20-35 looking to impress most of the nightclubs. That could be because it was the last hour and the older folks vote days or hour before.
