Columbia University Descends Into Chaos as Anti-Israel Mobs Return

“As long as Columbia continues to invest and to benefit from Israeli apartheid, the students will continue to resist”

The radical, anti-Israel mob has returned to the campus of Columbia University, after taking the summer off. Despite having months to prepare for this, the school looked like it was caught flat-footed, as protesters picked up right where they left off last spring.

What are these people going to have to do before authorities take them seriously?

The Associated Press reports:

As Columbia resumes classes, student activists vow to carry on with protests against Israel

Columbia University resumed classes Tuesday with students sunbathing and eating ice cream on the lawn that was home to a pro-Palestinian encampment last spring. But there were also fresh demonstrations just off campus, and students and faculty say they’re planning for more as the new school year unfolds.

In recent weeks, the university’s new leadership has embarked on listening sessions aimed at cooling tensions, released a report on campus antisemitism and circulated new protest guidelines meant to limit disruption. But student organizers are undeterred, promising to ramp up their actions — including possible encampments — until the university agrees to cut ties with companies linked to Israel.

Someone splattered red paint Tuesday on a statue in front of the Low Memorial Library. Outside the gates of the university, a small group of protesters marched on a picket line and urged arriving students and faculty to join them rather than go to class.

“As long as Columbia continues to invest and to benefit from Israeli apartheid, the students will continue to resist,” Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student who represented campus protesters in negotiations with the university, told The Associated Press last week ahead of the start of classes. “Not only protests and encampments, the limit is the sky.”

That wasn’t just ‘a statue’ as the AP casually mentions above, it was the school’s Alma Mater statue.

FOX News has more:

Masked anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University demonstrate as students check in for first day of classes

Masked anti-Israel protesters are demonstrating on Tuesday outside of one of the entrances to Columbia University, chanting, “Free Palestine!” and holding signs urging the Ivy League school to “divest from death” as students are trying to get to their first day of classes.

The demonstrations come after a series of protests rocked the New York City-based university this past spring, which generated worldwide media attention and more than 100 arrests. The anti-Israel activity also comes just days after Hamas killed six hostages, including 23-year-old Israeli American Hersh Goldberg-Polin. Hamas had been holding them captive – and continues to hold nearly 100 others – since they carried out terror attacks in southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

At least one protester was captured on video being arrested on Tuesday while other demonstrators were observed pushing barricades and getting into a scuffle. A second male individual was then taken into custody outside Barnard College, which is across the street from Columbia.

Pro-Hamas propaganda is being shared on campus.

Is the school just going to allow this to continue all year? Why would anyone even pay to attend?

It’s strange how pro-Hamas and anti-Israel mobs get the whole summer off while most of the rest of us have to work for a living. They aren’t winning any supporters here, the bums.

“What are these people going to have to do before authorities take them seriously?”

Who thinks that the administration and authorities AREN’T taking them seriously?
While certainly most of Columbia’s administration and faculty are made up of craven and feckless cowards, the fact still remains that the administration tacitly supports the aims of the “protesters.” Thus, they do little to nothing to stop it.
If the administration was actually against the aims of the “protesters,” I think they would have already been given a whiff or two of grapeshot.

The authorities will take it seriously when someone attacked fights back. The authorities will jail the ones defending themselves.

Just a variation on when the wimpy kid finally fights the school yard bully, HE is the one suspended for fighting back.

Yup…it would be pretty easy to end these things: “If you’re a student and you’re involved, you’ll be expelled, if you’re not a student and you’re involved, you’ll be arrested and charged with criminal trespass. Period. No exceptions.”

…Anti-Israeli Mob Allowed to Return to Campus.

FIFY

Good! These images are as good as a paid advertisement for Trump. A million votes here and a million votes there and pretty soon you have Trump beating the ballot-stuffing margin for Harris not included in the polls.

Listening sessions! Listening is the last thing that should be done. Academia has destroyed our culture. Those who inhabit it might as well be an alien species. The only hope for normal people is to stop complaining and congregate in a few states that can still be saved.

Why did the Anti-Israel mob return to Columbia?

From past experience they learned that Columbia won’t do anything. It’s a safe place for hate and haters.

Curiously I was just studying a Columbia seminar on Derrida on Nietzsche where his first translator Gayatri Spivak was mad at him for essentializing women, apparently from seven years ago. I’d like to hear them on the current protests as they seem to favor activism resulting from postmodern theories, but perhaps haven’t encountered it yet.

The solution is to enforce the Code of Student Conduct to the letter. I don’t see why they cannot create and enforce a “visitors” policy that prohibits non-students from protesting on campus outside of specifically designated areas – like in an empty field well away from buildings.

They know the goal is appeasement from the right

WITH THAT THEY ARE IN FACT WINNING

this country slides a little further left each day

until it no longer will be a *surprise*

“Free Fakestine” is the new “Sieg Heil.”

Throw them out

Arrest,

Or lose 90% of student body

Lose 90% or more of the Jewish students. The non-Jewish students are not being attacked. It escapes why anyone who is Jewish would at this point choose to go to Columbia.

At minimum, make them clean up the mess they made, and do so with their own scrubbing materials.

Expel them if it isn’t done perfectly, and put them on double secret probation.

Columbia degrees are now certificates for LARPing as a terrorist.

below. The same principles apply, and are not being applied by Columbia or any other Leftist supporting school. I will note that the students there [Jewish or otherwise] have another option. Their tuition dollars are voluntary choices to go to school there. The students can hit back at the collaborationist University by withdrawing both themselves and their tuition. Incidentally, this might have a greater effect than just the tuition going due to the concept of matching funds.

In any case, non-Leftist students at the very least need to be ready to beat feet out of there immediately to a safe place if things become pogrom-like, and definitely should do so at the first sign of destructive Leftist attacks on persons or property. Know what you need to grab in a hurry. Y’all can decide later on what terms you might be willing to return under, if at all.

Hmmm.
Columbia President Minouche Shafik resigned last month.
I guess she knew things on campus were going to get worse this year so she got the heck out of Dodge!

Speaking as a long retired Naval Officer. I believe there is nothing wrong with these people that a little napalm wouldn’t cure.

Columbia clearly does not value its Jewish students. We can assume the cash coming in from the Muslim donors is far greater than that from American Jewish donors. And those nice leftist, non-Jewish students at Columbia have no trouble victimizing a whole class of fellow students in a very, very bigotted way. Really highlights whether you’d want your kids anywhere around the pro-Palestine faction. Columbia is turning into a cesspool of hate.
