Oprah: There’s No American Dream Without Abortion, Birth Control, IVF

The left and Democrats have been trying to avoid the word abortion. But we know their language.
At the DNC, Oprah said you can only achieve the American dream if you have abortion, birth control, and fertilization methods to get pregnant. You know, everything the right is supposedly trying to ban (emphasis mine):

But we all know that abortion is the top priority for people like Oprah and the Democrats.
Planned Parenthood literally has an abortion van outside the DNC.
STOP LYING TO WOMEN. Stop encouraging them to murder their unborn child. Stop telling them abortion is their only option.
Believe it or not, you can achieve the American dream with a surprise pregnancy.
Stop telling women children are an obstacle to achieving anything.
You know, Vance wasn’t wrong with his childless cat lady remark. They have no idea what life is like with children.
As I’ve said before, I am traditional. I believe women should have kids and stay at home to take care of the kids and house. I also don’t like birth control, surrogacy, or fertilization processes to get pregnant.
But that doesn’t mean I’m going to demean women who do not choose that path or use birth control or other ways to have children. I only demean women who shout their abortions. Most women who have one are scared, alone, and manipulated into having one, leading to more trauma. It’s awful.
Nor will I tell them that not having children will leave you empty and unfulfilled. I’m not going to fill their heads with fear and horror.
Also, the American dream is different for everyone. It’s hard for these people to believe that women choose to be wives and mothers.
Stop acting like children are an unnecessary burden who will ruin your life and keep you from success.
These people make me sick.

What’s with the IVF and birth control nonsense — is there any reason at all to think Trump is opposed to either?
Some pro-lifers are opposed to IVF (not IUI*) because it creates embryos that get “disposed of” when they’re no longer wanted. They consider it functionally to be abortion.
A very few pro-life folks (primarily Roman Catholics) are opposed to contraceptives outside of marriage because it encourages sex outside of marriage.
“Pro-choice” folks oppose both those positions because they desire hedonism without all that judgmentalism and caring about the embryos (IOW, someone other than themselves). Some people argue for a more middle ground.
But this Catholic doesn’t want to ban birth control or processes like IVF. As I said in my post, you do you.
Abortion is another story since it’s murder.

* IUI happens in utero, so you’re only dealing with whatever eggs are “naturally” present when you try the insemination. If the body doesn’t implant that embryo and such, it’s a natural process tried for one embryo. Whereas IVF entails getting a whole bunch of eggs and fertilizing them all, then trying them one after another until one “works.” Then (assuming the ‘owners’ of the embryos don’t want another child, later) you dump the rest as if they weren’t life.
It was once Roman Catholic doctrine that birth control substances and devices were not allowed even to married couples. That may have changed in the past few decades but I suspect I would have heard about it.
It’s not that complicated.
Before sexual intercourse, it is a DECISION.

Well, biology sort of determines the limits on that. You can’t take it out and put it on a shelf for later*. And, of course, you consider killing your already conceived child to be a valid choice of “how to bring your child into this world.”
(* The IVF issue is exactly about “putting them on a shelf for later.” When you create a bunch of embryos and simply dispose of them when you no longer “need” them, you’re functionally aborting them.)
It is wrong to lump these issues together simplistically -there is a huge difference between abortion at any stage of a pregnancy for no valid medical reason, abortions which are medically indicated or where the pregnancy was caused by rape or worse, , IVF which enables couples to overcome infertility , and spacing of children in your family.. A little more nuance is despearately needed on this issue by both the supporters of “reproductive freedom” and right to life advocates .
It’s not the prominent right-to-life proponents who lack the nuance.
It’s almost entirely the “pro-choice” crowd that obliterates the differences.
For example, almost no pro-lifer argues against “medically necessary abortions” when the ongoing pregnancy will actually kill the mother. The pro-choicers argue from that, but actually consider it to include “if it gives the mother a hangnail or makes her cry.”
Another example is IVF, where the pro-choicers claim “You just don’t care about infertile couples trying to have a kid.” When, in reality, almost all pro-lifers consider IVF to be fine, except for how it handles the ‘extra’ embryos created as if they weren’t a life and were just disposable bits of bio matter. But, the pro-choicers just scream about “Those evil conservatives want to take away your chance at happiness!” while the leaders know da** good and well there’s much more to it.
The “lumping together” is because the left is anti-life in general, having hedonism as one of their prime doctrines.

FWIW, both of my twentysomething daughters are surprised at the total absence of viral social media posts about this convention. They both thought that there would be clips from Obama’s speech and from Oprah’s speech last night in wide circulation, minimally. Nope. Not a single video, photo or screen-shot of the convention, not even from the big social media ‘influencers’ who tend to post political stuff from time to time. I personally don’t have any social media other than an X account. So, I really have no frame of reference to gauge this. But, they’re both very surprised.

The truth is, there is no American dream with abortion. Abortion kills. It eliminates life. It ruins. It destroys everything good including the baby’s future.
But evil people take the truth and turn it into a lie: “There is no American dream without abortion.”

So “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” has become “abortion, lockdowns and shut up you racist”.
Their was one upside to Roe v Wade, with its disproportionate result in one minority category – Hillary did not win the election and Trump did.
I think Trump needs a September Surprise, a nationwide address focusing on unity, the failure of Biden-Harris to deliver on promises of same and the failure of the country to discuss important policy issues critical to the survival of our economy and country. In that context, he will sacrifice his own personal view and take the most divisive issue off the table by, if he is elected, introducing a proposed constitutional amendment to permit abortion up to something like 13 weeks, etc. IMO without the abortion issue the Democrats will be like the emperor with no clothes. Saving the country matters more to me than this one very divisive issue.

I thought the American Dream was to buy a house. I guess I’m just not thinking big enough!!! Then again, I’ve lived in Europe where housing is expensive and most “houses” are actually condominiums. Land is at a premium.
