Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) returned to the Capitol today almost one year after he suffered a stroke. In a series of interviews with selected press, the Senator said that he would have voted against the fiscal cliff legislation, saying it was “overweighted with spending,” but went on to express a few less than promising thoughts.
After praising the citizens of Illinois for their patience, he went on to say “The stamina comes from my colleagues, Dick Durbin who has been an absolute prince to me.” When asked about Obama’s win, Kirk replied that, “he has a better multicultural view of the country as it is.”
Kirk listed his priority issues as including funding more rehab visits, to which he credits his recovery, and partnering with Senator Dick Durbin to expand O’Hare Airport, both question marks to say the least in these tough economic times.
Tomorrow, he plans to climb the steps of the U.S. Capitol, no small feat for someone who will use a wheelchair for most of his Senate activities and cannot run or swim, requiring a cane to walk even small distances.

We need and should make everyone aware of these types of local news stories about men and woman and children and their bravery and effective use of our second amendment right to self-protect by keeping and bearing arms.

I have no clue what the hell he’s talking about “multicultural view of Barry”, I’m not white, and I have never heard such nonsense about nonwhites, what a stupid, and ignorant statement to make!
That being said, I wish him a continued recovery and as good of a lifestyle as possible going forward. And bravo to him for attempting to climb the steps tomorrow, it is no small feat and one that should be applauded. I hope he continues to recover.

That aside, I began to think he should not consider running on the R ticket again. Then I remembered what the Rs stand for anymore, as contrasted to conservatives. Silly me.
I am happy that Sen Kirk is doing better. He is about as Tea Party as we can expect from IL. Godspeed Sen Kirk.

Roskam was on the radio (WLS) this morning and said unequivocally when asked twice that he would vote for Boehner as speaker.
In 2000, the local electoral strategy was to make calls for Kirk as his first run for congress; it was believed that a phone call for W would turn the limousine liberal RINOs off. The Republican Party in Illinois is absolutely moribund on the state level. I wish Kirk nothing but the best as far as his health, but when I hear that he thinks Durbin is a prince of sorts, we’re doomed.
we need a law that requires injured (Gabby Gifford) or ill (Mark Kirk and others) congress people to QUIT!! we are supposed to be REPRESENTED and if our person is out, he is not representing. Is all they are trying to accomplish is keeping their pension?
Wish Senator Kirk the best. He is a RINO. Dick Durbin is a “sack of Durbin” (thanks Don Wade WLS). O’Hare Airport is a scam on not only the taxpayers in Illinois, but all of the states. O’Hare Airport epitomizes pay-to-play, backroom deals, and outright fraud.
I have seen a few filmed pieces of Sen Kirk doing Rehab. He has done very well.
I can understand never running again but he should be able to swim ESP if he was proficient prior.
May this remind all of us to keep up our exercise habits because if we were also to suffer a misfortune it is easier to rehab if we have muscles & muscle memory.
I think this is good news . As for his comments he is probably a bit seratonined . Maybe he still thinks it is Christmas .
