Latinos: No, Spanish Language ‘Disinformation’ Didn’t Cause Hispanics to Support DeSantis, GOP
Jen Psaki: “And there is a massive disinformation problem in Spanish language media.”
The left just cannot accept the fact that not all Latinos are Democrats. they cannot fathom why a Latino would ever support a Republican, especially Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Former Press Secretary Jen Psaki:
The Latino vote is not the same everywhere! There are huge generational differences and in Florida population of older voters (more likely Rs) much larger than younger. Socialism does not play there. And there is a massive disinformation problem in Spanish language media.

María Elena Salinas, former Univision anchor and Latino Media Network board member, described Miami as “one of the ‘centers of disinformation'” and people shouldn’t interpret as how Latinos feel at the national level:
“We have to be careful not to read too much into this,” she said. “This is just Florida.”
DeSantis won Miami-Dade County. He is the first Republican since 2002 to win the county.
DeSantis crushed Democrat Charlie Crist, 59.4% to 40.0%.
MRC Latina Director Jorge Bonilla spoke to Fox News Digital:
“The remarks,” Bonilla told Fox News Digital, “show that what the left cannot have or control, they disparage. So, having lost significant chunks of the Hispanic vote over the past few years, they’ve gone to this old trope of Spanish language disinformation. It is a trusty trope, it is a reliable trope. It is a malleable trope.”
Bonilla gave full credit to DeSantis for the win, saying he “engaged Hispanics in a respectful manner” on issues ranging from immigration to the economy.
“He didn’t pander to the Hispanic community on immigration,” Bonilla said. “But treated Hispanics as parents, as people with aspirations, with jobs. He didn’t look at the Hispanic community as a monolith to be pandered to.”
Giancarlo Sopo, the founder of PR firm Visto Media, cited a poll conducted by his company that destroyed Psaki and Salinas:
Sopo said recent data questioned the notion that “Spanish disinformation” is driving Hispanics to the GOP. In a WPA Intelligence/Visto Media national poll of 1,086 likely Hispanic voters taken October 4-7, respondents were asked if they have become more liberal or conservative in the past five years. Among Spanish news consumers, there was a net gain of 10 points to the left, Sopo said. Among English news consumers, there was a net gain of 5 points to the right. Overall, among all Hispanics, there was a 3-point rightward shift.
“The Democrats convey tremendous ignorance when they blame ‘Spanish disinformation’ for their losses among Hispanics,” explained Sopo. “This excuse might help them avoid confronting difficult truths in front of donors, but it is entirely inconsistent with the research data.”
I blogged about a Telemundo/LX News poll last month that showed DeSantis’s popularity with the Latinos:
- #1: Would you choose DeSantis, Crist, or someone else? 51% DeSantis, 44% Crist
- #2: Do you approve of DeSantis’s job approval? 56% Yes, 41% No
- #3: Do you approve of DeSantis’s handling of COVID? 64% Yes, 34% No
- #4: Do you approve of DeSantis’s handling of FL’s housing and insurance challenges? 52% Yes, 35% No
- #5: Do you approve of DeSantis sending illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard? 50% Yes, 43% No
- #6: Do you approve of how DeSantis handled Hurricane Ian recovery? 73% Yes, 17% No
CNN exit polls show support for Republicans among Latino voters was way up from where it was in 2018 — and "it's not just Cuban Americans in South Florida…it's with Puerto Ricans, it's with Colombians, it's with Central Americans." pic.twitter.com/kz33zGPCRw

¡En el Mundo Latina, hay muchas mentirosa bonita!
Hmmm, I see it when logged in, but the comment vanishes when I am not. It isn’t browser related, as it occurs on all my devices.
I call that a shadow ban.
Boo! Not cool.
Thank you for correcting that.
Getting busted isn’t fun, huh? It creates trust issues
No one was busted. And there is no shadow banning. When comments go to our moderation filter, there is a period of time before they are reviewed. During that time, a commenter logged in sees the comment because they are logged in as themself, but it is not yet live on the website. Once the comment is put through, and not trashed for things like threats of violence, it appears on the website.
Thanks for finally explaining that. It happened to me too, about a month ago.
Thank you, your response is noted and appreciated.
Comment moderation, huh? I gues I md out on that fact over the past ten years of reading.
I guess I missed that over the past ten years
There is a very serious Spanish language problem that needs to be addressed.
No matter how hard you look, you will not be able to find any products or signs with writing in Spanish. When you use your phone, it will prompt you to push one for French, but nothing for Spanish. There are no Spanish interpreters or Spanish language tv and radio stations. And unfortunately, there are no teachers in schools prepared to help Spanish speaking students.
In America, you have to learn English right away—or you can’t survive.
What are you talking about? None of that is accurate.
IMO he left off the “/s”.
Ironically, this was very true when I lived in New England, which had a much more significant Canadian presence than Hispanic presence.
In one year in the 1980s Miami wasted over 1 million dollars on signage. That was multilingual signage. Seem you might want to take a step in tot he 21st century.
You’re not only 2smartforlibs—you’re 2smartforsarcasm.
Did you write that in Omaha in 1953?
Fur shure.
I don’t know about where you are, but where I live there are several Spanish language TV stations, multiple radio stations, and quite a bit of billboard advertising in Spanish. There are many businesses that cater to Spanish speaking people. Every automated phone line I call in to asks me to “Press numero dos for Espanol”.
Sarc//sarc//sarc//sarc///////
I guess it is subjective. I figured it out about 2 or 3 lines in. Of course, I also had the benefit of double-checking your username for verification that is was sarcasm.
Ha ha.
Go to the voters and present the issues and common sense policy to address the problems. No need to pander just lay out the case in a respectful manner and ask for the votes. Then keep doing it, not just at election time.
The vile Dumb-o-crats’ paternalistic and imperially arrogant belief that black and Hispanic Americans must demonstrate exclusive ideological fealty to the Dumb-o-crats and their destructive agenda, solely because of their skin pigmentation and/or ethnic background, represents the height of unabashed and brazen wickedness and racism.
The vile Dumb-o-crats also cannot comprehend/fathom the fact that there are many black and Hispanic Americans who don’t view themselves as alleged “victims,” who don’t want any government supports and who are too busy succeeding in life and striving for professional and financial achievement to wallow in perpetual, corrosive and contrived notions of alleged victimhood and grievance.
The not so soft bigotry and racism of low expectations.
Democrats: Blacks can’t figure out how to get to the polls. Blacks don’t know how to get positive ID. Blacks aren’t smart enough to get through school or into college without a boost. Blacks are too lazy to get a job.
You get the idea. Everything they do is soaked in racism. If in doubt, apply the test: substitute white for black and watch the fireworks.
If I were a black or some other “protected minority,” I would be highly offended.
I can’t comprehend why anybody believes a word that Psaki says.
The day I let Jen Psaki lecture me about disinformation is the day I’ve misplaced my icepick.
What got them to support DeSantis? Results did. He was right about everything and he actively worked to protect their children from the groomers.
Bilingual. Only the illegal aliens, Hispanic-Americans (i.e. 1/2 compromise), People of Brown (i.e. diversity in color blocs), are limited through linguistic capture.
