14 Republicans Vote ‘Yes’ to Advance Gun Legislation
The Second Amendment is crystal clear and not hard to interpret: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Ladies and gentlemen, do not ever forget that these 14 senates voted yes during the initial vote for a gun deal led by TEXAS Senator John Cornyn.
It’s just a vote to advance the gun legislation bill but still. These 14 Senators betrayed their oath to uphold the Constitution.
The Second Amendment is clear as day. It’s time to buy more guns and ammo.
Cowards. They only had an hour to read the 80-page bill before voting.
Vote is still open but there are 14 GOP ayes on bipartisan gun safety bill:
Blunt
Burr
Capito
Cassidy
Collins
Cornyn
Ernst
Graham
McConnell
Murkowski
Portman
Romney
Tillis
Young— Igor Bobic (@igorbobic) June 22, 2022
Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt
North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr
West Virginia Sen. Shelley Moore Capito
Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy
Maine Sen. Susan Collins
Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst
South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham
Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell
Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski
Ohio Sen. Rob Portman
Utah Sen. Mitt Romney
North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis
Indiana Sen. Todd Young
Republican Sens. Pat Toomey (PA) and Kevin Cramer (ND) did not vote.
Will all these Republicans vote for the bill in the final vote? I want to say no. Boy oh boy do I want to say no.
But I bet the majority will vote.
This is a disgusting thread and more proof that politicians don’t give a damn about you and me and the Constitution.
Me, a ginger, has more of a soul than Cornyn. I am seething right now. If Cornyn asked me this question I would have unloaded my Yankee ways on him. No nice Southern lady for this man.
Cornyn overhead on Senate floor: “It’s only 80 pages long, how long do you need to read it”
— Igor Bobic (@igorbobic) June 21, 2022
Sen. Sinema, I like you, but for the love of everything in this world do not ever rush anyone to read a bill no matter how long it is.
Inside the room, there was a jovial mood. Cornyn and Sinema kept ribbing Rs who were lagging, asking why it took so long to read 80pg bill. Schumer thanked Rs who voted aye one by one, even Collins. Dem rank and file were shaking Cornyn’s hand. Tillis snapped pic of GOP yes list

“Our legislation will save lives and will not infringe on any law-abiding American’s Second Amendment rights. We look forward to earning broad, bipartisan support and passing our common-sense legislation into law,” Sens. Chris Murphy (D., Conn.), John Cornyn (R, Texas), Kyrsten Sinema (D., Ariz.), and Thom Tillis (R., N.C.) said in a statement Tuesday evening.
Um, the Second Amendment doesn’t have a “but” or “except for” in it. The bill will allow the removal of firearms if a person is determined a danger to him/herself or others. It would also “prohibit dating partners or recent dating partners convicted of domestic violence from purchasing a firearm.”
But you can have your rights back “if 5 years have elapsed from the later of the judgment of conviction or the completion of the person’s custodial or supervisory sentence” or if you haven’t been convicted again.
A requirement for purchases for people between 18-and 21-year old gun purchasers. They need to review your juvenile and mental health records.
So in order for a LEGAL ADULT to purchase a gun, they have to consent for the government to look at their mental health records. It can take up to 10 days if the government finds “areas of concern.”
So who gets to decide on the mental health aspect?
Do not ever use “mental health.” It’s a slippery slope! I have depression and anxiety. I’ve never ever had thoughts or even blips of thoughts of harming myself or anyone else. But we can see how a doctor could fudge someone’s record or lie about a patient to make sure they don’t get any guns.
The Second Amendment doesn’t say a person has the right bears arms except if they’re convicted of domestic violence or deemed a danger to themselves or others. I don’t care what the courts have said. The Second Amendment states, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Shall not be infringed. No “but” or “except for.”
Here is the 80-page bill.

Hurry up and say ‘aye’ to say you did. Then on the final vote say ‘nay’…or throw away 2022 mid terms.
All of those Republicans who signed on are either retiring or not up for re-election in 2022.
Coincidence? I think not. They were handpicked by Senate Republican leadership to aid this Democrat plan in going forward.
Portman’s been busy f*cking over Ohioans ever since he announced he wasn’t running again. May his retirement be as awful for him as his tenure has been for us.
Exactly. handpicked. Republicans are our real problem.
Fuck me but you single issue dumb fucks deserve Democrats in power for ever. Imagine using this as the basis to allow Democrats to continue destroy America.
Maybe the better option is to get rid of limp wristed fucks like these 14 (plus the others who only votes no because their vote wasn’t needed) and replace them with proper Constitution believing Americans.
Your ability to self fornicate must be an effort worthy of drawing a crowd?
“Fuck me”
I doubt anyone will do that as you’re too ugly.
All god given rights are enforced through the 2nd amendment rights declaration.
This “single issue” is in fact the whole ball of wax.
It’s OK to not be a walking/talking Guy Ritchie film.
The solution is obvious. Destroy the Democrats at the ballot box. Then, destroy the Rinos.
As a GOP precinct chair I can tell you that my people are absolutely against providing any kind of help or support for these 14. Numerous votes for Censure have alreay been proposed, already.
That’s what Trump has been trying and overall succeeding. Of course just like every election not all the candidates are going to be Trump types so he has to choose the lesser of two evils. But my guess is he’ll keep looking to replace those evils whenever he can.
But repubs keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory like the mangy curs they are.
It would be a solution if we had an electoral system that was legit. I will not be using this system ever again.
I don’t think you understand the gravity of the situation. These are the American Enabling Laws. They allow the government to ignore due process at its own discretion, under an administration that has already flagrantly disregarded it’s own laws to punish it’s opposition.
Now it is trying to go after people not for actions they have already taken, but rather for laws that the government asserted they might break in the future.
In that world, you are already guilty. That is the world they just voted to create.
People who are guilty of no crime will die by the government’s hand if this passes.
Mailman: I agree with you, 100%.
Mailman, I agree with you almost 100%. Rats like McConnell and Graham and the rest aren’t so much ‘wimps’ as they are rather sinister figures, compromised by their corruption.
I saw a list of 18 Democrats.
Cassidy was bought. I think he knows he lost pretty much every R vote already, so he is ensuring his place in the globalist cabal.
If he even needs to get our votes to stay in office.
After this, I believe it’s safe to say that Cassidy is done in my state. We’re pro-2A as we come, and any crap coming from DC to curtail it will not be looked upon kindly. Any person Trump backs to go against him in 2026 is going to get my vote.
And it gets so much worse:
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/06/21/john-cornyn-pledges-to-sell-out-america-on-amnesty-after-caving-on-gun-control/
Could we now stop pretending that the Republican Party is any different than the Democrats? There are ALWAYS enough Republican votes to deliver victory to the Democrats. Every freakin’ time. And how fitting is it that it was again another Texan who delivered at the end?
This would have happened much sooner had Trump not defeated Hillary in 2016. And we can’t even get many “conservatives” to say anything good about Trump. We have two superstars right now on the conservative side but we are only allowed to cheer for DeSantis. We deserve to lose. We are too stupid to win.
We need Trump NOW!!!
It’s so utterly dismaying at demoralizing, that every single time they need to, the Dumb-o-crats know they can peel off enough GOP votes to pass a bill, but, that reciprocity never flows in the other direction. The Dumb-o-crats never switch allegiance to help the GOP pass a bill, ever.
It’s so predictable.
Every time the GOP is positioned for an upcoming major win blowout (almost always, you will reflect, never because of something they did that was right, but because of the other side’s unforced errors), they run around frantically trying to find something — anything — major that they can do to avoid winning the election.
They don’t WANT to be in charge. Being in charge means taking the blame.
Better to sit back, collect the graft, and grouse about all the things they COULD be doing for us, but… well, they just don’t have the seats.
No, it’s not they don’t want to be in charge, it’s that they are on the other side. Their job is to deceive us into believing there is an opposition party.
Henry, yes it’s a matter of their not wanting to be responsible, but they are also highly compromised.

The RINOs are on the march. Trying to collaborate with their Dem allies and friends to pass bills that would have zero chance of passing after the red wave in November.
This is why so many consider consider the Dems and GOP to be two faces of the same Uniparty.
Proving once again why the GOP is the stupid party. Brandon needed a win, so, naturally, Bitch McConnell gives him one.
It isn’t stupid. The uniparty is real. I would be surprised if we even have 20 elected officials who aren’t part of it. The D will always have enough votes, no matter how many R we elect if we keep playing the “electability” game.
All of this nose-holding over the years has damaged Republican brains from oxygen deprivation. I’ll be going back to voting against ALL incumbents. Anyone else notice that once again, Joni Ernst sells us out? Are there any Tea Party Republicans who didn’t sell out?
I’m going to expand on that. We ( real conservatives) need to “red pill” ourselves.
This bill is the final proof positive any intelligent critical thinking human needs to see the plain truth in front of them.
This “lie” ( excuse really) about electing a “rino” as the lesser of evils or whatever excuse justifies it (electability, they are in a blue state, it gives us “numbers” or whatever crap one chooses to use as an excuse) is a NET LOSS.
THIS ( and Obamacare, and everything else) is what RINO’s deliver to us every time. They talk “good things” but deliver for the left then join J6 committees to further punish us.
They do nothing to protect US citizens held as political prisoners, they do nothing to hold criminals accountable for anything, they don’t fix anything.
We would be better off going ahead and electing a liberal- at least then it would be quick.
Read the bill. There is nothing “stupid” about this. It borders on genius actually.
It is deliberately a “stealth bill” designed to erode Constitutional protections regarding firearm ownership without directly challenging or mentioning the 2A, guns in general or even a direct confrontation on or against individual rights.
This bill was made over a period of MONTHS and very well thought out and crafted to achieve what’s in its papers.
Don’t buy the lie- this is all RINO kabuki.
Its a repeat of the beguiling in the garden- slick wording with very targeted and specific
meanings the casual reader will overlook.
This bill is akin to the “foundation” of a house- its not the house but its the framework the walls will be built on.
They are gutting the 2A by gutting whatever is left of the 4A. And they are paying the states to get it done. Dating in CA is going to get even more complicated now.
Yeah, I see that
It’s not stupidity. It is pre-meditated and deliberate. They know exactly what they are doing. And they are doing it with McConnell’s blessing.
They are deliberately betraying their voters and constituents because they are essentially Democrats at their core. They are in Congress only to lower taxes and enrich themselves, their families, their friends, and their business associates.
And they are doing it now because if the GOP takes the Senate there is no way any Democrats would get on board for exactly the same bill in 2023.
Until the GOP purges its ranks of its RINO fifth columnists collaboration with the authoritarian Dems will continue whenever the Dems have a majority.
If the GOP is going to support all this left-wing lunacy you might as well vote for the liberal n the first place.
If the GOP is going to support all this left-wing lunacy you might as well call them democrats and be done with it. There is no practical difference between a D and an R these days. They are all part of the uni-party that is more than willing to sell out their constituents at the drop of the hat.
No, but since they like gun control so much, we should apply the standard to Republicans. Don’t vote for the Socialist/Communists, but punish the Republicans by not voting for Republicans. Same idea as gun control, punish the innocent majority for the crimes of the very small minority.
In all fairness, both my Senators voted against it
This is beyond stupid. This is a self defeating surrender by the rino establishment. They rushed this in an attempt to get it done before the upcoming break. They don’t want to have people in their States raising hell and weakening support at town hall meetings back home.
There are a couple of things I like in the bill but no one has explained how a vindictive ex will be prevented from using this as a means of revenge. See Amber Heard.
It isn’t self defeating. Their team won.
The uni party establishment won this vote.
No, this isn’t self defeating. This is a deliberate erosion of the 2A that is very strategically written to “appear” innocuous and “common sense” and not directly “challenge” the 2A or ban guns. ( to hopefully keep the masses at bay with a false sense of confidence)
Its also a wealth distribution scam with all kinds of useless programs and funding attached.
Fair points.
Though it’s up to voters to impose defeats on the proponents in the next primary. Of course 4 of the 14 who voted to advance this bill are retiring. Of the remaining ten only Romney faces reelection before 2026.
We’ll find out how much people actually care when they decide to go all in on defeating these asshats or if they continue to hold their nose and reelect them. I suspect a large number of today’s impassioned and outraged will not demonstrate anything close to the level of action needed to defeat these asshats.
That sounds good ( the “voters” taking charge) but fails the reality test.
First, the GOPe crushes and removes many “true conservatives” leaving the only choice of a RINO through a variety of overt and covert means..
Then many RINO’s simply LIE about their stance ( or take a “high minded” “Romney stance” for the good of the many)
Then others just get bought off or miss the hidden language. ( they aint all geniuses’)
Then of course you need critically thinking “high information” voters who know the facts ( which the average voter is not and is heavily influenced by media saturation)
It won’t be easy. In fact it will be extremely difficult for the reasons you cite among others. Mostly it won’t happen because despite the keyboard warriors declarations of outrage they lack the courage of their declared convictions, the willingness to get personally involved and the stamina to remain involved.
As one example; the school boards across the USA were abandoned by most on the right. The left didn’t stop, they got their candidates elected. Today CRT/equity, Parents rights and trans issues have awakened interest in what these boards are doing. People seem to care.
Will that interest be temporary? Will the current discontent fade? Probably so and for the same reasons as previously. Our political system requires us to be active participants at every step year round or be defeated. Most people shrug off the burden and show up on election day if we’re lucky.
They are not surrendering. They are traitors who are collaborating with their Dem allies and friends. And they are doing it now because if the GOP takes the Senate in November no Dems will go along with exactly the same bill in 2023. So it’s now or never for the RINOs.
Same with the illegal alien amnesty bill Cornyn and McConnell and the rest if the GOP fifth column will attempt to ram thru before the mid-terms.
‘A rose by any other name….’
There’s still the possibility of stopping this but here’s another point; why didn’t Sen opposed hold the floor prior to the vote? 50-14 =36 r Senators to act in concert to conduct a speaking filibuster. Three dozen could have held the floor until January.
Let’s not be quick to overlook that fact. These yes votes were from a preselected group chosen because they either don’t face voters till 2026 or are retiring. Why shouldn’t we hold the no votes accountable for their failure to act as well?
Because of institutional protocols and “sanctity” of the office and all that. ( or call it what it is- intimidation, be it active or passive)
Lets don’t make a “negative excuse” against those who didn’t act (blaming them for not doing something they never should have had to in the first place)- lets focus on those who DID ACT ( actus rea) and deal with them.
The “people” and the 2A were deliberately and willfully SOLD OUT by a select few RINO’s who are fully aligned and in concert with the left and no amount of “explaining away” or diversion is going to change that.
I am unwilling to declare those voting no as ‘good’ and those voting yes as ‘bad’. That sort of surface level analysis masks the larger number of folks in the ‘no’ column who supported this. Just as the uni party desires.
These additional sellouts were able to hide their support behind the votes of their colleagues. A speaking filibuster would have stopped this. That didn’t occur because the 36 Senators who voted ‘no’ chose not to employ that tactic.
Are all 36 Sen who cast a ‘no’ vote weasels? Nope, but they ain’t automatically ‘good’ either.
Because they had to have this vote in order to begin debate? Now we’ll have to watch and see if sufficient numbers oppose cloture now that Schmeckel Schumer has filed the bill for a vote (IIRC Thursday) for cloture, Not likely, only 10 needed for cloture and there’s 14. Maybe Mitch the B itch is trying to be too smart by half and is expecting Pelousy to load up the House version with every wish list item she’s ever had. Then Mitch can have the Senate refuse to pass. Fat chance, not a single Socialist/Communist will depart from passage and Cameltoe will be the passing vote for whatever comes out of conference. Pelousy could be double cross her b itch Mitch and pass the same Senate bill through the House before next week. No further action by the Senate needed.
Once again the Republicans have screwed their voters.
No. Gain recognition before this vote occurred and refuse to yield. 36 Senators could hold a speaking filibuster for a very long time. Certainly long enough to highlight the issues and mobilize opposition back home.
The usual gang of suspects.
Who keeps on voting for these jackasses?
we do
Fittingly, there is a lightening and thunder storm breaking out in Pasadena right now. Market is heading for another sell-off and things don’t look very hopeful around the world. It really makes me wonder sometimes if this is the end of days. Each day gets creepier and creepier.
You can stop wondering Phil
We are in the period of the end of this age
Anybody here running for office? Let us know. If I do, I’ll let y’all know.
A Red Wave in November?
What difference, at this point, will it make?
This bill is clearly a trojan horse designed to inflict heavy damage to citizens and eventually strip the 2A
Speak up at a school board meeting? That’s a red flag.
Upset your five year old tucked bills in the g-string of a drag queen on a field trip? No guns for you.
You’re in a militia? That’s the biggest flag.
Question the narrative in any way? Plainly a domestic extremist.
Yes, I read the language that way myself. Anything they want is now a “terrorist” and will be charged accordingly.
Support Trump? Red flag.
Question the 2020 election? Red flag.
Refuse the jab? Red flag.
And so on and so forth.
They appear to be in violation of 18 US Code s 241:
“If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States.”
At this point I will go out of my way to not follow anything passed by these criminals
Be real careful. That kind of talk makes you a terrorist under this bill and will qualify you either as an insurrectionist or seditionist.
Unfortunately being a veteran already has me on the list. I will not comply.
Being pro-life has me on it, too.
This could be the day Roberts was waiting for to release the SCOTUS opinion reaffirming Roe v. Wade.
And now for the “grand slam” for GOP wing of the Uniparty:
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/06/21/sen-john-cornyn-attacks-criticism-of-civics-bill-as-russian-disinformation/
Another Cornyn Trojan Horse bill opening up the door for CRT curricula throughout American schools.
He refers to his own party electors at the Texas GOP Convention as a mob and now labels his critics of engaging in a Russian disinformation campaign.
So in one day, Cronyn sells out on 2A and amnesty and possibly CRT. Roberts could sell us out on Roe v. Wade. That’s would be a grand slam.
Cornyn called his voters, people that elected him, a ‘mob’. And he won’t cave to that ‘mob’.
In collaboration with their Dem allies the two-faced lying traitorous RINOs are desperate to pass all the legislation that would never pass after the red wave in November.
A bonus for the GOP fifth column Benedict Arnold wing is these actions may help suppress the GOP conservative voter base turnout. McConnell would prefer the Senate remain split 50-50. But he now thinks that is unlikely. So its time to ram through legislation the ignorant, mouth breathing, drooling, uneducated peasants who vote GOP would never support. While he can still get all the Dems on board.
There’s a lot of problematic language in the bill. First, in Section 12002, it expands the definition of who engages in the business of firearms. from“with the principal objection of livelihood and profit,” which applies largely to FFLs, and replaces with “to predominantly earn a profit,” which includes anyone who wants to sell their used guns. Second, Section 933, which pertains to trafficking of firearms, makes private gun owners liable even if they didn’t know the person they were selling to was a prohibited person. The language states, “has reasonable cause to believe that such receipt would constitute a felony.” That language is so vague and broad, it will ensnare innocent sellers. A good radical leftist prosecutor will find a way to charge individuals based on political leanings based on these sections.
Yes and as a dealer, this alarms me as well. It is so open to interpretation that it is literally designed to be abused. That’s not accidental.
Couple that with the language in 12003 regarding counsel NOT at govt expense. (if you are charged, you best be able to afford a high priced attorney)
I also noticed that politicians and people are touting the “due process” language, but that does nothing to control the standard for deprivations. In leftist circles, “misgendering” or “dead naming” a person is considered an act of violence. Thus, a state could write their red flag laws to include this, and the due process section of the bill would not be able to prevent this.
The enhanced background check provision has been deemed unconstitutional at least impliedly by the 4th circuit and 9th circuit. (18 year olds have the exact same 2A right as 21 year. olds).
True but what are you really up to here?
I suspect that someone has secretly put hormone-blocking additives in the Senate coffee machine.
Meanwhile… WE WILL NOT COMPLY.
I, for one, welcome the very just and well considered decisions of our benevolent overlords whose only motivation is the betterment of our society and to safeguard the prosperity of the people. /S
Passing the 80 page bill with barely a read … couldn’t this just be political gamesmanship / posturing? With a rash of mass shootings recently, seemingly front page news every day, how much hay would the dems have made IF reps resisted the bill – if it wasn’t “bi-partisan” – how would that have affected the run-up to November in which we hope for a red-wave?
How many times during a GOP house did they vote to repeal some or all of Obamacare, only to have their bill(s) round-binned by the dem Senate? And when finally there was a GOP house and senate, RINO McCain made sure Obamacare remained intact. So all those GOP house votes on Obamacare were for show and to pacify the base.
So a ‘yes’ vote on this gun bill in a dem house isn’t likely to pass a deadlocked senate or get 10 GOP crossover votes – but oh the drama and the posturing and speechifying – but I should think some of it has to do with taking the wind out of the dem’s sails leading up to November.
And the reps want us fired up to so we actually turn out to vote in November, in numbers to overcome dead dem votes.
Least ways I hope that’s all it is.
I think the opposite.
The Republicans don’t want to win the majority. And this is how they achieve that.
Remember last time they had a majority, in 2016? They shat their britches. They were now unexpectedly in control, and would be expected to deliver on all the blue sky promises they made to us. 50-state carry reciprocity. Deregistration of suppressors (silencers). Repeal of Obamacare. Yadda yadda yadda.
So what did they do? They froze and did fuck-all for two years, until they could safely arrange to lose the majority once more.
Well, I understand why they had to move quickly. This may the GOP’s only hope of not regaining a majority this fall.
The short game –
Legislation is always written with lots of wiggle room with respect to interpretation as it is designed to provide ever expanding job opportunity and security for the attorney/court system.
Recall how the contest over the word “is” went.
Those outside their “system” have a bit of a problem understanding that fact because the system all others have been trained to operate in is constrained and/or negatively impacted by the legal system.
The long game —
Destruction of the tenants of this experiment called United States of America.
This isn’t just a bill about the 2A, somebody got this expensive nugget inserted.
ary 1, 2026’’ and inserting ‘‘January 1, 2027’’.
Subtitle B—Medicare Improvement Fund
SEC. 13201. MEDICARE IMPROVEMENT FUND.
Section 1898(b)(1) of the Social Security
Act (42 U.S.C. 1395iii(b)(1)) is amended by
striking ‘‘fiscal year 2021, $5,000,000’’ and inserting ‘‘fiscal year 2022, $7,500,000,000’
of course all this new spending is considered an emergency and therefore not subject to the PAYGO rules
More proof that we need to repeal the 17th Amendment and go back to states choosing Senators.
The bill gifts the FBI with another $1.6 billion — as if this corrupt organization doesn’t currently possess sufficient staffing and money. Perhaps the FBI should focus on combating actual criminals, instead of being dutifully devoted to lawlessly sabotaging GOP presidential candidates and Presidents, on behalf of its Dumb-o-crat paymasters, and, stupidly chasing after the phantom contrivance of a mass movement of alleged “white supremacists.”
yep, just give one of the most corrupt agencies in all of government more power and money. Of course these programs aren’t funded long term so it is just another way to keep adding to the debt
Now apply the same standards to the right to vote.
Had a conversation at work yesterday with a group and there were many misunderstandings due to years of saturation of false propaganda and a lack of education on the specifics. Here is the short text should anyone need to have a quick talking point reference.
(Research at a minimum Federalist papers 29 & 46 and all militia acts and dictionaries from the periods and other writings for context and more details)
A well regulated- this means people with COMMON GEAR ( which would interchange such as same caliber weapons etc.) The word for “regulations as we use it today is “discipline” back then( rules and stuff) This is also the basis for the “equipment list” the militiaman was expected to purchase and maintain.
militia – basically the free man ready for service (not an official military member- active or reserve)
free state- contrary to popular belief this is NOT a reference to a geographical area, community or a people; this is a reference to the “state” of individual freedom ( which is the motivation for the civilian to fight)
The people- in this context, citizens inclusive and exclusive of expected militia age requirements
Keep and bear- doesn’t just mean “ownership” (private ownership was implied and understood for a “free” man) but the facilities to make and preserve ( the old world use of “keep” in context of the day)
Bear not only means to carry but to support ( as in bearing a burden)
arms ( goes well beyond rifles and muskets)
Just FYI
Maybe the Supreme Court can swat this thing away.
