Democrats are deeply invested in the January 6th Committee. They hired a seasoned, professional television producer to help supervise their prime-time hearings this week.
They clearly want this to be the television event of the season, like the finale of a popular series.

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol has enlisted the help of a veteran network news executive as it aims to make its case to the American people during prime-time hearings this week that former President Trump incited an insurrection against the U.S. government.
James Goldston, who worked for nearly two decades at ABC News as a senior producer and eventually president of the news division, has joined the committee as an adviser specializing in media production and presentation, according to multiple reports.
Goldston will reportedly work behind the scenes with the committee and its staff to craft messaging and production during the hearings, which begin Thursday night during prime time.
Axios reported on Monday that Goldston aims to help with presentations during the hearings that are “raw enough so that skeptical journalists will find the material fresh,” using a mixture of live witness testimony and pre-taped interviews.
This has been confirmed by multiple people.

So we have to abolish the Electoral College to prevent another so-called insurrection?

The cost for this propaganda production likely far exceeds the damages done by the Jan 6th protests: $1.5 million.
By contrast, these woke scolds burned down whole sections of Minneapolis and St. Paul, during the George Floyd insurrection, damaging or destroying 1,500 businesses/stores. The same people chairing this committee cheered on this destruction that caused over $2 billion in damages nationwide. If you account for the lost of civility in this nation and the defunding of police, the damages are far higher. Every one of the left-wing jokes should be put on trial for treason, when the Republicans gain control of Congress, serve serious prison terms for this insurrection, and deport for good once their sentences are served.

That’s unlikely (for the following reasons)- this is assuming it will be done fairly ( which I doubt but obvious attempts to railroad will be seen by all and have an adverse effect)
First, it wont “intimidate” conservatives- if anything it will incite them to get more serious about November.
This event is basically a 1 shot “flash in the pan” so its doubtful it will carry any significant weight in things like changing voting laws, abolishing the EC and all that.
If I were to analyze this in terms of a psyop as far as goals and objectives, I would guess:
The immediate goal of this “event” is a Hail Mary to drum up numerical support for the left based on the falsely held belief that the “people” actually support them but they don’t get the message out. It cannot be to take the “peoples” attention away from inflation, gas, immigration because those are well embedded issues the people see and feel every day and no prime time special is going to have any effect on that any more than a mini-series would.
The end goal would be (hopefully) to spawn something to help them in the mid terms.
Personally, I am glad they are doing this because it shows the fear they have and the uncertainty they share- this will most likely hurt them even more.

No, the HUAC barred Jerry Rubin, who was dressed as Santa Claus for one of their hearings. He also dressed once as a Revolutionary War soldier. He was a commie but an entertaining one.
HUAC also used a publication called Red Channels and some others as “authority” of who was communist or a communist influence. Santa Claus was listed as one such.
A real shame is: many conflate the BUAV circus with Joe McCarthy’s tel hearings and write him off. I was guilty if that for many years.

Joseph McCarthy’s HUAC star chamber committee hearings were televised in 1954. But in that case, there were committee members (such as Flanders and Symington) who were willing to stand up to McCarthy. Those televised hearings led to McCarthy’s downfall.
In the current witch hunt, Pelosi nixed all the duly appointed Republicans, and appointed two “useful idiots.” So no one on the committee is likely to stand up to Rev. Samuel Parris, who will be played by Pelosi, and Rev. John Hale, played by Schiff.
These hearings will be held under the Beria procedures, summarized by Beria’s code of justice, “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.” Even in cases where they can find no crime, the person will be charged with Contempt of Congress, which doesn’t require any crime.
But the biggest difference is that MCCARTHY WAS RIGHT.
