Woke Mob Hunts Down Student Who Invited Col. Allen West to Speak at U. Buffalo

The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at the University of Buffalo invited Colonel Allen West to speak about American values, his life, and how he overcame racism.
A student mob disrupted the event and was so threatening that West had to be escorted off campus by police.
The student who organized the event had to hide from the mob in a bathroom as they hunted her down.

A University of Buffalo student said she was ‘hunted down’ by a woke mob screaming ‘no justice, no peace,’ after she invited prominent black Republican Lt. Col. Allen West to speak on how he overcame racism.
Therese Purcell, president of the Young Americans for Freedom, a campus club that organized the event, said she and her fellow members only wanted to bring these open dialogues of racism to campus.
But protests erupted after the filled-to-capacity event, leading to an angry mob that chased Purcell, leaving her afraid of what would have happened if she wasn’t able to hide from them.
She shared terrifying footage of the incident online, and says it left her fearing for her life, Fox & Friends First reported.
‘I realized I was the target for these protesters, and about 200 of my fellow students started hunting me down on campus, started chasing me,’ she said.
Purcell said she heard the angry crown screaming, ‘go get her, go get her, go capture her, the girl in the red dress.’
Purcell barely escaped the mob as she was pulled into the bathroom by a friend, where they called 911.
But Purcell added that even inside the bathroom, she heard the mob yelling that the need to ‘find her.’

The University of Buffalo released this statement:
The University at Buffalo is deeply committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all people, and a place where freedom of expression occurs without threats and in a respectful and civil manner.
The university is conducting a thorough review of events and activities leading up to, during and after an appearance by former congressman and retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West, including the posting of anonymous social media messages threatening students protesting West’s speech and harassment of students after the speech.
“These events do not define who we as a university are, nor do they define who we aspire to be,” said Barbara Ricotta, UB’s dean of students. “As a university community, we will continue to strive to be a place where all students can express themselves, be heard and live their lives in a welcoming and safe environment that values diversity and inclusion.”
As a public university, all members of the UB community and invited guests have a right to peacefully express their views and opinions, regardless of whether others may disagree.
This includes the right of individuals to oppose the views or opinions of others – including peaceful protests – but not in such a way as to limit or prevent the speaker’s freedom of expression or interfere with university operations.
It’s good that the university is investigating this incident but it will mean nothing without consequences. Students who participate in threatening mob actions should be expelled.

That is exactly what it sounds like. Phony academics and incompetent, uneducated administrators will stop at nothing to advance their political hate and violence.
The mob did that….by posting their own anonymous hoax threats and promptly reporting them.
These people are rabid lunatics and anything they can get away with that furthers their opinion (which they mistakenly call “their truth”), no matter how vile, is justified in their minds.

Sounds like the administration is signaling that the goal is to at least find or distort and then publicize threats against those protesting against West. Lacking that, I’d expect “no findings”. If they can’t produce the distracting squirrel, they won’t highlight any wrongdoing by the protesters.

Look closely, there are plenty of examples in the videos of college kids somehow being miraculously inspired to do just the right things to blow these events up. Like the chick who prevents West from speaking by asking a 10 minute question that wasn’t a question. That stuff is scripted, trained, and rehearsed. The North Texas fiasco last month even had a leaked copy of the tactical instructions to the useful idiot rioters. That didn’t write and distribute itself.
There is no doubt in my mind that the FBI has a big folder full of info on them and could bust them in a heartbeat. But won’t.
The ‘overly long question’ only brings up the importance of controlling the QandA at the end with two lines of questioners and the ability (and will) to cut off a microphone when obvious troll becomes obvious.

Why not make it clear that questions submitted in advance will have priority and audience questions will be welcome only if time allows with the question length being limited to 2 minutes?

How much longer are school administrators going to be allowed to get away with being “surprised” by these riots? As in surprised enough to not take appropriate actions to protect the speakers and the students not involved in the disruption.
It is an undeniable fact that bringing in a conservative guest speaker has a high probability of the left sending in its goon squads of organizers and trainers to incite trouble and disrupt the event. Any Administrator who doesn’t take aggressive steps to prevent such disruption is frankly either incompetent or a co-conspirator.
It’s time they be held personally accountable for their actions or lack thereof. Don’t go after the school, go after them.

The job descriptions for school ‘administrators’ make clear that they’re on the side of the rioters for social ‘justice’, and that all those silly descriptions of open debates for all points of view are in the catalogs only to bamboozle the parents who pay the extortionate tuition.

Yes. Yes it does. There is no way she could not have known this would happen. Therefore lack of a large scale “Come to Jesus”moment beforehand shows the anticipated actions were approved, and the weasel word denial scripted well in advance.
Fortunately, the NYS Legislature has acted in response to campus unrest in 1969 by enacting the “Henderson Law” which requires each college, whether public or private to engaged “Rules for the Maintenance of Public Order.” These rules must be filed periodically with the NYS Dept of Education and they apply to equally to students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Money talks. She should sue every one of the students for assault and sue SUNY for assault for not stopping the mob.
Until now, it sounds as if the Administration did all of the right things. 1) It ignored the protests that afternoon the goal of which was to cancel the event. 2) It did not fall for the bait that an anonymous Tick Tock threat was reason to cancel the event. 3) It met with the protest leaders on the day of the event, setting expectations and standards. 4) It supplied a strong police presence that discouraged “mob action.” The only failing was that Purcell was separated from the police escort.
There were so many videos and photos taken of the event that it should be easy to identify members of the mob. If I were the UB administrator, I would call up the protest leaders and say, “Look, we have a positive ID on about a dozen students. If you want them to face consequences alone, fine. But if you want to accept group responsibility, have your other members step up and identify themselves to the conduct office.”
A major problem is that most far-left activists assume full amnesty will be granted for any misconduct. Amnesty is not in the best interest of UB’s educational mission, and only invites further misconduct. At the very least, convict them and put them on probation.
Finally, there were the threats made that afternoon against the demonstrators. The UB IT Department should be able to track which devices at the time of the threat were connected to Tic Tock and track down if the threats originated from a campus IP address.
