#BoycottStarbucks Trends after Corporation Dumps Vaccine Mandate for Employees
Today’s special blend features a slight hint of karma.
A few days ago, I reported that General Electric suspended its vaccine mandate for its employees.
Now another corporation has also dumped its vaccine mandate, like a carafe of bitter, rancid coffee.
The tastiest part of this news: The corporation is one of the deepest blue, progressive, virtue-signaling entities in the country.
Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) suspended COVID-19 vaccine-or-test requirement for U.S. employees that had been mandated by the government, according to a memo sent to workers on Tuesday, following an adverse U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

“We respect the court’s ruling and will comply,” Starbucks Chief Operating Officer John Culver wrote in a memo to workers.
Starbucks has 9,000 U.S. coffee shops and 200,000 workers. With this act, it has become one of the first major retailers to rescind its vaccine policies.
Starbucks’s move to drop its vaccine-or-test deadline highlights how the court’s ruling has put the responsibility for determining vaccination rules squarely on employers. And companies face a patchwork of federal, state and local laws, which range from vaccine mandates that are stricter than the federal government’s to laws blocking companies from requiring workers to wear masks.
“For most employers, it has proved to be a day-to-day crisis because when they think they know the answer, the rules change,” said Domenique Camacho Moran, a labor and employment lawyer with the firm Farrell Fritz.
Retailers and their advocates had been among the most vocal critics of the federal government’s vaccine rule, saying it would have exacerbated their struggles to hire or hold on to workers when millions of unemployed Americans remain on the sidelines of the job market.
Karma has come for Starbucks, as it is now the target of the very social justice activism it has long supported. #BoycottStarbucks is being promoted by its progressive patrons.
Soon after the announcement was made, many took to social media to express their opinion to the company’s decision, and the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks quickly made the rounds. It was among the top trending topics on Wednesday afternoon.

Too bad Starbucks decided to force liberal ideology with every cup of coffee purchased. I generally avoid using the chain, choosing a local barista whenever or wherever possible. I will own having one pumpkin spice latte each year in October.
If the corporation remained focused on good coffee and great service for all, conservatives would be organizing a counter #Buycott at this point.
But instead, many just troll on social media.

I will conclude that as part of its mission statement, Starbucks says it promotes: Courage to challenge the status quo and in finding new paths.

I stopped buying Starbucks a few years ago when they said something like ‘if you don’t share our beliefs, we don’t want your business’, so I went someplace else
Yep, same here, that was around the time they wanted their “baristas” to chat with customers about race. That was totally ridiculous (and they quickly dropped that nuttery).
At that time, I was going to Starbucks a lot, and this included ones close to college campuseseses. NOT ONCE did ANY barista try that with me, and as near as I can tell, not anyone else.
Their baristas would have fun chatting with me about race. “I like my coffee like you like your men, large, black and deep inside.”
Works particularly well on skinny male ones.

Bought their hot chocolate at the grocery store last month, had not had it before. Not a coffee man. Not really a hot chocolate man but I was craving it. Maybe I am a hot chocolate man. Anyway, that stuff was not good.

It had hipster cache a while back. It is in the “South Park” phase of dissolution today.
I first heard about it 30 years ago. But they have never had as many stores as they do now (32,000+) and they want almost twice that number by the end of this decade. The demand has never been this high. I have never understood why. I’ve never heard anyone say OMG THIS COFFEE IS INCREDIBLE.
Clearly, though, they are appealing to a lot of people.
It was the first coffee franchise that used really good-quality coffee beans, that is good beans roasted at well-controlled temperatures. Really, it is that simple. And people were willing to pay for coffee that tastes good.
My local roaster found out that he wasn’t charging enough for his coffee. It’s an independent shop in a strip center. During the COVID nonsense, he finally raised the price per cup and by the pound, and offered free shipping.

Used to drop by their first store at Pike Place Market in Seattle. I find their coffee has a bitter steel flavor…definitely acquired . I don’t drink the stuff….and especially after telling me where to go.

Strange, I find that their roast seems to mainly consist of burning the beans. Their coffee always has a horrible, burnt flavor.
Generally, they are clean, well maintained, and contrary to all of the stories floating around conservative sites, the staff is friendly and intelligent. When I lived in Henderson NV, my local was staffed with people who liked “our bear”, and some even chatted with me on their break. Intelligence and the ability to think was common.

I had ONE SJW type at my local, and I mentioned something to the manager. Others had as well. The SJW was gone within a week.
Quite simply, because people got significantly lazier and stopped making coffee at home. Starbucks is not GOOD coffee, but it’s better than any other drive in coffee or instant coffee. (I don’t buy drive-in coffee myself)
For years, Consumer Reports or someone like that would run blind trials with McDonald’s, Dunkin, and Starbucks. Starbucks routinely lost.

Only reason to boycott Starbucks is for their awful coffee and ridiculous pricing.
and yet… Carhart announced they will mandate the vax – and their customer base said “look there are other products.” Funny how this whole thing is shaking out.
People can do what they want and I encourage that. My experience, though, is that neither the coffee nor the service at Starbucks is that good. I don’t drink overpriced, foo-foo coffee or coffee-flavored milk drinks. The food they serve is okay but nothing special.
The problem I’ve always had is with their arrogant, colored-hair, clown show waitstaff. They may have masters degrees in some grievance study or another, but they’re still drawing pictures in coffee with milk. I’m sure there are some that are great and your mileage may vary, but it’s like picking up a sandwich and when you get it home it’s on stale bread. Just not willing to go back.
Look at their statement – they’re trying to blame it on the Supreme Court: “We respect the court’s ruling and will comply,”
They will comply with the court’s ruling? The ruling prevents OSHA from enforcing vaccine compliance, right? I don’t see anywhere the SC says that businesses must or must not do anything, just that OSHA cannot force the businesses to do it. So now they want to punt the responsibility for their decision to the court.
They are leftists. Anything not forbidden is mandatory. Same way leftists “fixed” Jim Crow.
I never did business what that damn evil outfit and I have no intention of ever changing that.
A temporary buycott for Starbucks could make a really good marketplace point. I envision a statement such as “thank you for not being stupid, now take those wholly ineffective masks off your employees, and just sell your product”
Some 20 odd years ago I wanted a large coffee. When the barista corrected me with Vinti I asked what does 20 in Italian have to do with it. I got their sizing spiel. Their full bodied coffee tasted like they used burned beans. I haven’t been back.
I understand that the company still encourages packs of African Americans to use its restrooms to shoot up street-mRNA vaccines including the popular Spike Protein Roast.
The existence of a contingent of trolls who would boycott a company for NOT mandating the vaccine is eye opening.

It’s been a long while since I went to Starbucks on a regular basis–and I switched from using Starbucks Italian Roast coffee to make coffee at home. But dang me, I think I’ll go down and get a Venti Latte at a nearby Starbucks today. For once those bozos in the C Suite at Starbucks got something right.

I stopped going when they opened up their bathrooms to the nearby homeless, err, feral humans camp. That location is now out of business having been on the corner for 30+ years and they literally shot themselves vs having to deal with some local bad press.
It seems that people like me won’t spend money with Starbucks because they’re run by communist. However, the communists won’t spend money with Starbucks because they’re not fascists.
Up until now, the Left has always eaten their own. Now they are refusing to drink it.

I have hated Starbucks since they kicked out small coffee shops from neighborhoods, but this seems like a worthy statement to make.
A semi-serious question: do any of these hashtag boycotts ever work? We see and hear about them all the time, but I’m not aware that they actually do anything. Perhaps I’m just not tuned into the retail scene.

The employees are hit hardest. Most of them are, of course, already vaxxed. But now they all have to wear N95 masks all day, no more “fashion statement” masks. I assume some will start keeling over eventually. And to the customers, the experience transforms from buying coffee at a carnival midway to buying coffee in a hospital emergency room. But we already knew Marxism sucks the joy out of everything, and eventually, life itself.

The thumbnail of that Forbes video is interesting, inasmuch as it purports to show an injectable “live attenuated virus” covid vaccine vial, when no such vaccine is available in the US. I’m not sure if a whole-virus vaccine is available for covid-19 anywhere in the world.
Been to Starbucks 2 times in my life. Once just before flying out of San Fran, and once in London.
Neither time was I impressed and will go for gas station coffee before stopping at starbucks.
I have never bought a starbucks coffee in the USA, but a couple of the small foreign airports I fly into/out of have a starbucks and it’s the only cup you can get.
But I’ll break down and give them a bit of business for having a very small amount of good sense.

Who needs Starbucks? Try this mixture in your morning mud:
4 cups powdered creamer
1 rounded cup brown sugar
1 rounded cup powdered stevia
1/2 cup powdered cocoa
1 rounded tablespoon salt
I experimented thirty years ago to get the proportions right and I’ve used it ever since. Two rounded teaspoons in a cup works well, and a half-teaspoon of honey will further sweeten it quite nicely while adding its own pleasant flavor. The stevia adds sweetness while keeping the calorie count out of the stratosphere.

Looks like Starbucks has now managed to piss off every sector of American society. I haven’t set foot in a Starbucks or purchased their products since Howard Schultz promised to hire illegals over veterans several years ago. The vaccine stance is a step in the right direction, but this company still has a long way to go before they earn my business. Dunkin makes a great cup of coffee without all the politics.
