The New York Times Now Agrees with Virus Response Plan I Proposed…Nearly Two Years Ago

“Do away with Covid theater.”

I suspect The New York Times Editorial Board might secretly read Legal Insurrection.

It recently published a piece entitled, “We Can Live Better Lives While Being Smart About Covid.” It started this way:

Nearly two years into the pandemic, it is clear that the coronavirus is not going to disappear anytime soon. Surges will happen, variants of concern will pop up and mitigation strategies will need to evolve.

This is similar to an analysis I did on the coronavirus pandemic of 1889 termed “the Russian Flu” that published this summer, which concluded:

If we scramble to stop every variant, it appears we will be in lockdown for at least the next 130 years. In fact, there were several cycles of infection worldwide (beginning in late 1889, with recurrences in March to June 1891, November 1891 to June 1892, winter of 1893–1894, and early 1895). Do we want to really go through this drama for the next 6 years?

It is time to rethink the COVID-response strategy.

I find it interesting that one of the most progressive publications is now beginning to question the “experts”, and perhaps are delving into other options that heretofore had been branded as “misinformation”. There are many possible explanations for this hot new take from The New York Times, but whatever the reason, I am grateful that there is movement in a truly scientific direction.

Additionally, the opinion piece highlighted an aspect of the virus response I myself offered….on March 1, 2021: Ventilation. Here is what The New York Times suggested:

Do away with Covid theater. The coronavirus is airborne, and any money spent on deep cleaning would be better put toward improved building ventilation. But instead of upgrading their HVAC systems, too many schools and businesses are still relying on things that won’t work nearly as well.

Nearly two years ago, I prepared this response plan:

Third Point: Protect your respiratory system now.It is clear that the virus targets the respiratory system, and those with medical conditions impacting the lungs are hit hardest. …

Other risk factors also include pre-existing heart conditions, diabetes, and obesity. Therefore, if you wish to enhance your preparation for the…Coronavirus, protect your immune and respiratory systems:

  • Stop smoking.
  • Take vitamins, drink plenty of water, and start a sensible exercise regimen.
  • Consider your home and office environment: Are there ways to improve the air quality that are easy to implement that makes it easier for you to breathe (e.g., air filter, humidifiers).
  • If you suffer from a respiratory ailment (e.g., asthma), confer with your doctor for additional guidance.

The New York Times Editorial Board places too much emphasis on vaccines. This is especially true when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 80% of the coronavirus cases are found in the fully vaccinated...many of them also boosted.

Most of the 43 COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant identified in the United States so far were in people who were fully vaccinated, and a third of them had received a booster dose, according to a U.S. report published on Friday.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that of the 43 cases attributed to Omicron variant, 34 people had been fully vaccinated. Fourteen of them had also received a booster, although five of those cases occurred less than 14 days after the additional shot before full protection kicks in.

The piece would have been substantially enhanced with a more robust emphasis on self-care and treatment options. However, it is heartening to see some of the tenets promoted by “experts” questioned and an official call to end “Covid Theater” from a leading liberal publication.

With so many drugs and treatments available, why are none discussed if this is so deadly? The R0 nought is the same and other COVIDs and far below things like Ebola, Measles, and other diseases.

The mortality rate for vaccinated people is less than the mortality rate for a typical flu season.

    >> So why are some areas returning to lockdowns and mask mandates ?

When did this morph to a goal of zero infection ?

I mean, zero infection has never been the goal with flu. And zero flu mortality was never a goal. Such a goal is elusive. If that becomes the goal – we will be fighting Covid forever.

State of NY is going nuts because infections are up. But mortality among the vaccinated is super low (about 90% are now vaccinated).

This is now little more than equivalent to flu – yet people are nearly in a panic because the Mayor of NY and Gov of NY are raising alarm.

Have no fear Bwian-steltzer-water & don le-mon are all over this! They, along with dementia jill, recommended this long before corn pop & people like you made these “false recommendations”…

Conditional exposure, early treatments, and natural immunity. Planned parent/hood, and collateral damage, was neither an exclusive nor a good Choice.

There is usually an ulterior, nefarious motive behind everything the New York Slimes publishes.
I’d wait a few weeks to find out.

Lost me at ‘NYTimes’.

That polished turd rag matters to Liz Cheney, but not me.

The problem with the Old Grey Lady (I’m told) is that it leaves a solid black smear on your bum, impossible to remove with repeated cleanings, which is why, when you purchase a suit, you should always purchase one with two sets of trousers..

Anyone remember the old days – when your hands would get blacked by ink from the newsprint everytime you read the NY Times. Those were the good days. Before they moved on to the smudgeless ink and feckless editors..

The problem with all of these suggestions is that none of them could be used to increase the Democrats power or help Democrats win elections. The Democrats needed COVID panic or they were doomed to four more years of a President Trump and quite probably a Republican Congress, a Republican Congress that with no Russian collusion myth might actually support President Trump’s policies.

As we see today, the states will ultimately take one of two positions: covid is an Armageddon they MUST valiantly fight, or Covid is here to stay and we will survive.

We had one division of this country over slavery. I always thought the next would be over taxes, but it would appear our next division has been caused by a virus.

As long as the WH is in the first camp, the division will remain. Even if the WH changed back to R, the Blue states would continue to defy any rational course of action for getting back to normal. So, winning back the WH isn’t going to change things.

As more days roll on, more and
More Americans are getting fed up with mandates. But here’s the thing: by continuing to move
Forward the way Red states are moving, more People in Blue states are going to get more frustrated with their state governments….

…. And that is something the Blue states won’t tolerate.

Eventually, we Should expect the Blue States start taking even more direct action against the Red states.

And if the wrong party is in power when we reach that boiling point – expect the Federal government to start treating Red states as being in open rebellion.
