Hispanic Texan Confronts Beto: “You Ain’t Taking My Guns”
“On behalf of the ranchers, oil and gas, the farmers . . . I’m in your grill telling you, don’t come back. We don’t want you here.”
Earlier this month, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke announced his candidacy for Texas governor, and on Sunday, he doubled-down on his infamous “Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47” vow.
Asked by [CNN’s Dana] Bash if he stands by the pledge he made during a Democratic presidential debate in September 2019, “I still hold this view,” he said.
“Look, we are a state that has a long, proud tradition of responsible gun ownership. And most of us here in Texas do not want to see our friends, our family members, our neighbors shot up with these weapons of war. So yes, I still hold this view,” O’Rourke said.
During his failed run for the Democratic presidential nomination, O’Rourke blamed Congress for not passing stricter gun-control measures and said he supported mandatory buybacks of assault-style rifles that have been used in mass shootings.
“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” he said at the Democratic debate in Houston, Texas. “We’re not going to allow it to be used against our fellow Americans anymore.”
Needless to say, this does not sit well with a great many Texans.
In fact, one angry Texan confronted Robert Francis at an appearance and told him “On behalf of the ranchers, oil and gas, the farmers . . . I’m in your grill telling you, don’t come back. We don’t want you here.” As he was being hustled away by security, he yelled, “You ain’t taking my guns, either!”

I’m not sure if my favorite part is when he unfurls his “Come and take it” flag or when he shouts out “Kyle Rittenhouse.”

Hispanic-Texan? Perhaps a Person of Brown, Blue, buckle my shoe. He sounds Texan with a Hispanic heritage. All American in principle.
So true. I just love this guy, and I think it’s funny that anti-American and unAmerican Democats are losing “the Latino vote” by droves. Maybe I shouldn’t rub it in like that, but . . . . 😛
think it’s funny that anti-American and unAmerican Democats are losing “the Latino vote” by droves.
Their mistake is in calling it the Latinx vote. There’s scarcely one of those in the whole state of Texas, and this Tejano – Texan – righteously fired back shot for shot about their insufferable anti-gun attempts.
Definitely! I’ve railed against this “Latinx” thing in posts here at LI. It’s ridiculous and insulting.
One not just identify him as a Texan? Shouldn’t the age of hyphenisation be over?
Why not…
But if you do that, there’s nothing to rub in the Democrats’ faces.
We’ll refer to them as Tejanos sometimes… maybe if you’re talking about somebody’s family history, or their cooking skills or some other topic where their heritage is relevant. But we’re all Texans.
Pretty much the point I was making.
You mean like these guys?

ha! that’s good, although there is one serious flaw in there… the Texan would have a big ol’ offset smoker, probably burning post oak or mesquite, and not some little toy with a propane tank. but funny nonetheless.
You’d think. Instead, there is a progression from a 3/5 compromise to 1/2 equity. One step forward, two steps backward.
The Tejanos were there long before us gringos started moving in. But they didn’t like the Mexican government, either, and they fought side by side for Texas independence.
Yep. And for the most part we get along great today. I know A LOT of mixed couples here. Texans love Mexico and Mexicans, we just don’t like law breakers much. Texan culture is a mix of German / Czech and Mexican influences (among others).
Tejanos are mostly from the upper desert region of Mexico where they were called Nortaneos.
A Texas redneck is a Texas redneck, white, brown or black. Gotta love ’em.
In the meantime, the man himself identified as of Hispanic heritage, and rightly and proudly so. Would you strip this man of his identity to score your own points? Apparently so.
There is nothing wrong with noting that a Texan is of Hispanic or Latino origin, an identity he clearly himself embraces.
Want to tell Hispanic Americans that they are no longer Hispanic and are merely Americans? Good luck with that. Oh, I know! Let’s silence and bully everyone who sees Hispanics as vital parts of our melting pot into insisting that there is no difference at all (and that any such cultural differences should be ignored and downplayed).
Gee, doesn’t that sound familiar?
Maybe Beto should try his run in a place like Massachusetts or California. It would likely meet with more success.
On the subject of Kyle rittenhouse, I’m sorry to see that this young man’s name is going to become a verb. That and I fear that he will never be left alone.
Well that’s good news for you. Now instead of having to hear the painful term “mauled by a bear” people will say “He was Rittenhoused.”
And in both cases, the people on the receiving end of the punishment richly deserve it. Bears, whether human or ursine, don’t go looking for trouble.
Well stated!
“Maybe Beto should try his run in a place like Massachusetts or California. It would likely meet with more success.”
Naw.
“Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”
“Our what?” “Too late…!”
If he did, he’d lose his shirt. They have no use for a dummy like him to replace coveted permanent democrat districts.
Let’s Go Beto !
What are these “Assault Rifle 15s” you speak of?
Soon to be labeled the Hispanic face of White supremacy
The man made more sense already the BATA SKATA
I read on another site that Beto will be running against Donald J Trump, that should be fun, he is not the brightest light bulb, all his opponent has to do is remind people about gas prices, food prices, and education.
His name is ROBERT FRANCIS and he’s literally one of the whitest dudes in the country.
He is trying hard to pretend he is not white.
Reality is a challenge for leftists.
I’m never surprised anymore. I remember reading a NYT article written by authors who were stunned that legal immigrants were not the “allies” of illegal aliens the NYT thought they should be.
Imagine the horror. legal immigrants who had taken the time and expense to actually jump through the hoops didn’t like illegals jumping to the head of the line.
Do these NYT creatures actually know any CBP officers. I’d say about 50% are Hispanic American. Keyword: American. And while the Biden/Harris admin attempts to vilify CBP officers as racists who whip Haitians, their most vocal defenders are their wives and girlfriends.
Guess what ethnicity these wives and girlfriends are most likely to be, in these south Texas border towns.
The thing about leftists is they assign you to your racial/ethnic box and then they are stunned when you refuse to remain there because your box is too small and otherwise doesn’t fit. The square peg doesn’t like its assigned round hole? The solution is a bigger sledge hammer.
When leftists talk about Hispanics they immediately default to illegal aliens. And then they act like any Hispanic will automatically support illegals in any situation. Do these leftists actually know any Latinos? It’s encouraging that Latinos are in fact leaning more and more conservative. Because they are conservative.
Hey, Dems, thanks for opening the borders so more Catholics who oppose abortion and peddling pedophilia in school all the stupid trans BS can join me. Learning Spanish is, for an Italian speaker, not hard. Slit your own f***ing throat, why don’t you. I won’t get in your way

“MSG Roy Benavidez speech 1991”
The Founding Fathers never envisioned High Speed Automatic Printing Presses shooting out hundreds of pages per minute. So, clearly its time to consider commons sense restrictions upon the 1st Amendment.
A lot of Texas Hispanics might say that they didn’t come to the USA, but that the USA came to them. Plenty of them were there to fight Santa Ana.
Nothing like a buck-toothed potato-faced mick with zero life experience telling everybody what to do. Where have we seen that before? This pussy should do his skateboarding on the freeway.
Kennedys?
Ding ding ding!
Hey. Teddy had life experience. He even kilt a man. Well, a girl.
It’s telling, isn’t it, that the left thinks I’m supposed to freak out over this.

My father was a Coastie. I’m now retired Navy. Every time I went aboard an installation it was guarded by sentries. Some of those sentries were black.
Seeing black people with guns was just so ordinary I never thought about it. Now I find out from SNL and the squad that I’m supposed to have been so racist all along that should have bothered me.
Are you f***ing kidding me?
Essentially liberal elitists who are obsessed with guns see black people with guns and freak out. In an attempt to console themselves over their blatant racism they tell themselves I, conservative that I am, must have a bigger problem with BIPOC people with guns than they do.
Yes, that must be it!
In reality, and I do live in reality, I don’t have a problem at all with it.
Winsome really personifies “adult”.
These are the same people who, when you mention Latinos, immediately think of illegal aliens, domestics, and landscapers. But I’m the racist according to them.
Why do you have to identify him as Hispanic? He’s a Texan, period.
It’s just in the title, not in the piece, because Dems think they own the Hispanic vote, and they so do not. This is not how they think Hispanics think, so it’s relevant to the title since gun-grabber Robert Francis O’Rourke is a Democrat. The title also refers to Robert Francis as Beto, a thing I also do not do (just like I don’t write ‘President’ before Biden’s name). Does this help clarify?
He would likely self identify as a Hispanic as well as a Texan. The old Hispanic communities in the southwest tend to trend conservative. In northern New Mexico? There are families that can trace their roots back 400+ years. They are patriotic, family oriented and don’t like people coming from other places and telling them what to do.
And kudos to the gentleman for unfurling the Gonzales flag. It’s one of my personal favorites.
I’d love to land a roundhouse kick right on the mug of the whistle person and have it take out their front teeth.
Interesting how the rent-a-jack-boot security clown kept saying he didn’t want to arrest the man. He was in a public place. Exactly what was he doing that would have warranted arrest? Being mean to Robert Francis “Beta-Male” O’Rourke?
Those weren’t rent-a-cops. I’m reasonably confident they were the real deal. But, I’m still curious why the police would be threatening to arrest a man that is speaking on public property. And, even if it’s not property owned by the city or state, then it’s clearly public access outdoor space. The Supreme Court has held that the First Amendment applies on this kind of property more or less the same as it applies on public property (think outdoor shopping malls or the area that Occupy Wall St occupied, for instance).
I have no doubt they were real, off-duty cops, being paid to provide private security services. They get to use their official vehicles, wear their uniforms, carry their weapons, and present themselves as if they were on-duty, but they’re being paid by event organizers and follow the organizers’ rules.
Very possible. This is one reason that the local cops in my city are required to wear a brightly colored (yellow) badge on the front of their uniform that says ‘off-duty’ on it when they’re working as (uniformed) private security, as these men have have been. Some localities don’t allow the practice at all. I can see arguments both for and against.
Either way – on or off duty – what they did here is violate this man’s 1A rights and it needs to be investigated by their internal affairs division.
