Hoax: Fired TN Vaccine Chief Reportedly Sent “Threatening” Muzzle To Herself

Tennessee’s now-former vaccine chief Michelle Fiscus claims she ran afoul of Republican state officials by urging teens as young as 14 to get vaccinated without parental consent.
In the brouhaha leading up to her eventual firing for “poor interpersonal communication skills, ineffective management and attempting to steer state money to a nonprofit she founded,” Fiscus claimed to have received a dog muzzle from Amazon.
She claims to have taken it as a message that she shut up about vaccinations. It has now been revealed by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security who investigated the incident that Fiscus sent the muzzle to herself via a secondary Amazon account using her personal American Express card.
Axios broke the story, so be sure to review their work. I’m not a fan of their choppy, disjointed layout, so I am going to use a local news outlet.

The report states that the muzzle sent to Fiscus was purchased with a credit card in the name of Dr. Michelle D. Fiscus.
“Based on the information provided to us by Amazon via subpoena, and on information derived from interviews, there is no evidence to indicate the dog muzzle was intended to threaten Dr. Fiscus,” Department of Safety and Homeland Security Special Agent Mario Vigil wrote in a memorandum closing the investigation. “The results of this investigation indicates that purchases from both Amazon accounts were charged to the same American Express credit card in the name of Dr. Michelle D. Fiscus. At this time, there appears to be no threat toward Dr. Fiscus associated with receipt of the dog muzzle. This case is closed.”
Fiscus was Medical Director of the Tennessee Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization Program at the Tennessee Department of Health before she was fired on July 12.
For her part, Fiscus denies sending the muzzle to herself, but she does not address the use of her American Express card for the purchase.

It’s not clear what she hoped the muzzle hoax would do in terms of saving her job, but she did admit that she was using the national attention as a “platform.”
She spoke with some coworkers at the Tennessee Department of Health. They told her to get the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security involved.
“What they were told from Amazon was that they would need a subpoena in order to determine who had sent it,” Dr. Fiscus said.
She still doesn’t know who sent the dog muzzle.
It was delivered before she was fired. It’s a story that’s gained national attention.
“I don’t know why it’s caught fire, but I’m going to use this platform to continue to support the work of public health, the people who do that work for all of the right reasons, and to continue to promote the importance of being vaccinated,” Dr. Fiscus said.
It’s not clear at this stage what, if anything, Fiscus will be charged with, but from her tweet, she intends to waste taxpayer resources dragging out the apparent hoax.

Let’s see if I can communicate my point more clearly today. I would simply ask that you reach out for further information or additional context prior to making any assumptions or taking offense.
That said the woman in the article, DR Fiscus, didn’t become a toxic, self important, egomaniac overnight. She developed those habits over time, throughout her life. People observed this process. When people in a position to influence the toxic person refuse to do so the problem grows. That’s who we should expect to police us and alert us when we’re off track.
I would suggest that the people with the closest vantage point to see this toxicity develop in DR Fiscus life were not men but women. Her HS friends, her college roommate, her sorority sisters, her lifelong friends who know her best. They were also, due to proximity and personal influence, in the best position to speak up to her regarding her behavior. They failed.
So my broader point is step up and speak out to intervene with those you have personal influence with. We should use that influence to police the behavior of those in our own orbit; family, friends and colleagues before they become a toxic accuser.
I do not know and would never associate with this woman or her female AND MALE indoctrinists and enablers. That you–whom I really have enjoyed in LI’s comment section–lump all women together like this, that you get so many up-votes for equating woke lefties with all women, is discouraging. So the pendulum swings and hits conservative women square on the jaw . . . and our ‘men’ cheer. /smh

In today’s post I specifically explained that I was referring to policing the individuals in our own orbit. If you don’t know DR Fiscus, which I don’t image that you do, how could you be expected to intervene and stop her becoming a toxic accuser?
Let me state this plainly; I have not and do not lump all women together. In this instance you are incorrectly ascribing what isn’t there. I hate that you believe that but I don’t seem able to clarify.

You, like Fuzzy, are unfortunately making an incorrect inference and assumption. My call to ‘police your own’ is based upon using the influence one has with those in their own orbit.
Yes women should be policing the women in their orbit just as men should do with the men in their orbit.
Why? Because those are the family, friends, colleagues that we know best and who might be willing to listen to unsolicited advice where they would likely reject the same advice from a stranger.
I honestly don’t understand why people leap to conclusions and ascribe motives before seeking clarification. It’s an unfortunate part of modern life that we sometimes are searching for things to be offended by.
When we believe we see something we leap headfirst towards this confirmation bias instead of pausing and asking for clarification before jumping off the cliff.

Some notable things about this
1. Fake crimes continue because they continue to be effective. We need more strict measures to punish people for doing them. Unlike many things we actually could use state legislatures for that. Take away fake hate crimes and their narratives come crashing down.

This is a person who is willing to risk going to jail in order to avoid living in a world where the people she hates are human beings who just have disagreements with her and she has to make them subhuman. What’s funny is that the state report says this didn’t even rise to the level of a hate crime: “there is no evidence to indicate that the dog muzzle was intended to threaten Dr. Fiscus.”
But she ought to be charged with whatever the federal equivalent of “filing a false police report” is. For heaven’s sake, this entitled brat demanded an investigation by DHS.
That is a hilarious detail to it that not only did she fail to cover her tracks she also failed to make her hoax an actual hate crime level, but if she doesn’t end up convicted she will be more careful in her next hoax .., even the dumbest people learn from their mistakes.
Ok, I’ve read 18 USC sec. 1038. The section only covers hoaxes “that would constitute a violation of chapter 2, 10, 11B, 39, 40, 44, 111, or 113B of this title, section 236 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 (42 U.S.C. 2284), or section 46502, the second sentence of section 46504, section 46505(b)(3) or (c), section 46506 if homicide or attempted homicide is involved, or section 60123(b) of title 49.” None of those chapters and sections seem to be implicated here: they deal with specific crimes ranging from international terrorism and chemical weapons to tampering with pipelines. What am I missing?
