It’s Bernie’s Party Now: Majority of Registered Dems Now Favor Socialism Over Capitalism

The socialist takeover of the Democratic party is nearly complete. According to a new poll, a majority of registered Democratic voters now prefer socialism to capitalism.

The establishment wing of the party is already past retirement age, and the AOC wing is on the rise.

Ronn Blitzer reports at the FOX Business Network:

Majority of registered Democratic voters now prefer socialism to capitalism, Fox News poll finds

A new Fox News poll showed that more Democrats favor socialism over capitalism, in a sharp reversal from just a year and a half ago.

The poll, taken between Aug. 7-10, showed that 59% of registered Democratic voters who participated had a positive view of socialism, compared to just 49% who felt that way about capitalism.

In February 2020, when the question was last asked, 50% of Democrats who participated said they had a favorable view of capitalism, with just 40% saying the same about socialism.

The poll showed that 44% of Democrats had an unfavorable view of capitalism, and 31% had a negative view of socialism.

Of the Republicans polled, 67% viewed capitalism favorably, and 8% had a favorable view of socialism.

The trend toward socialism among Democrats comes at a time when members of Congress such as self-described democratic socialists Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., have had a growing influence on Democratic politics.

Zachary Halschak of the Washington Examiner notes that you can’t discuss this development without mentioning the rest of the squad:

The poll comes as the House has become imbued with a vocal contingent of socialists and those who support socialist priorities. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York was elected in 2018 after a shocking primary upset and has since championed policies such as “Medicare for All” and the Green New Deal.

Ocasio-Cortez and Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts made waves after entering office, with the self-proclaimed “Squad” having outsize influence within the party and attracting much media attention, at times to the chagrin of party leadership.

Reps. Jamaal Bowman of New York and Cori Bush of Missouri, both members of the Democratic Socialists of America, were sworn into Congress after last year’s election.

This means that Democratic candidates are now going to pander even harder to the far left.

Can you even imagine what the next Democratic presidential primary is going to look like?

They ‘think’ they favor socialism over capitalism because of what they are told about each. They just haven’t taken into account the possibility they have been lied to.

Or they really like the idea of universal health care, social welfare, employment rights, paid annual leave, a society that actually gives back to them compared to the current situation where you pay taxes and get practically fuck all

These are the Socialism = Sweden types. They don’t understand that they are likely to get the Cuban version.

Sort of like the LARP folks who go to renfair events; every girl envisions being a Princess, every guy envisions being a Knight of the realm. None of them imagine being a serf.

Why is ciba the likely version, why not most western countries who have universal free health care , 21 plus days of a year with full pay, a social welfare system that supports you if you find yourself unemployed, employment rights etc etc etc

Bernie is not a socialist, He is a commie.

Bernie is a democratic socialist. Do you even know what a communist is?

Yup. Any SOB who goes on his honeymoon to the Soviet Union is a dam commie.

No doubt he’s a card carrier.

He doesn’t know what he is. So long as he gets another couple of houses free of charge.

Our nation is past the tipping point. Seccession is our only way out.

He’s a an old hippie who never grew up has and always been dependent on others, especially the government, for support. He is not a Democrat but only switches temporarliy when it’s to his benefit. He has always been looking to advance himself without working too hard, or, more accurately, not at all.

Unfortunately separation isn’t likely until after complete collapse. The end of the empire is at hand and we can’t stop it. It be like trying to catch a crashing Boeing 747 with a Catchers Mitt.

“Can you even imagine what the next Democratic presidential primary is going to look like?”

Communist leaders are selected and the voters get to approve or face exile. It may look like a primary, but the fix will have already been in…as with Harris.

Socialism is communism in slower motion… the destination is the same.

We can only hope that “moderate” Democrats will start talking about forming a third party.
Poor Greens have been leapfrogged!

Democrats will go through a.series of wrenching transformation akin to the Labour Party’s. The difference is, Labour pretty much collapsed this time thanks to Jeremy Corbyn and the raging antisemitism he fostered, and the Democrats are starting on their Socialist journey having established antisemitism as a core tenet of the party.

What fools. Just look at the biographies of these socialists. Frauds. Especially the likes of Sanders. No real accomplishments other than using capitalism to get his 3 homes.

henrybowman in reply to oldschooltwentysix. | August 14, 2021 at 9:07 pm

But Sanders didn’t use capitalism to get his three homes, any more than Obama used capitalism to get his Martha’s Vineyard mansion. He used the political pull and graft available to the well-positioned in the parasite class, exactly as all Communists do.

henrybowman: But Sanders didn’t use capitalism to get his three homes, any more than Obama used capitalism to get his Martha’s Vineyard mansion.

Sanders wrote a book which made the New York Times bestseller list. Both Barack and Michelle wrote books that each sold over 3 million copies. Sanders has released 10 years of his tax returns. Obama has released 16 years of his tax returns. For comparison, note that Trump released 0 years of his tax returns.

“I wrote a best-selling book. If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too.” — Bernie Sanders

They’re doing the women’s vote or nothing. After years of successful soap opera news business models, they want to run government without structure, only feelings.

Women want to give everybody a fair share of dessert, men want to build a structure that provides dessert.

Either repeal women’s vote or arrange for some women’s self-awareness.

Er….have you looked at the woke corporatists, athletes, and journalists? How about Congressional Communists? The majority are males, usually white, and very rich.

Maybe we should ban Communists instead. That is certainly what they have in mind for the rest of us.

They’re run by HR departments, which are run by women and what women think. Journalists write for women. It’s where the only market for news is, in the form of soap opera.

Democrats have skipped over Socialism and moved to Marxism.

But the other half isn’t going to go for it.

The majority of voters should not be voting. The average voter/adult in the U.S. has a reading comprehension of less than the 7th grade level., according to the OECD/ PIAAC. Our voters lack cognitive skills, using emotions instead. Our new media reflects this: everything is over dramatized, logical arguments are replaced with ad-hominem attacks, ill-manners dominates, people believe their feeling are the way reality is or should be, rather than seeing reality as it is.

The nation assumes wrongly that when a person turns 18, they then have the competence to vote or even take care of themselves. The sad truth is that most adults remain psychological children, lacking these competences. They vote for socialism, because they need parental care. 78% live pay check to pay check, struggling to take care of themselves and their families. Millions of poorly-educated illegal immigrants are pouring through our borders, seeking the same care. They are unable to form their own functioning government. The richer and smarter Democrats project their own personal problems onto the world of politics, instead of maturely handling their personal issues by themselves. We are no longer a nation of pioneers, just a nation swamped with immature adult children seeking parental care.

Ask a stupid question – get a stupid answer.

To the uninformed majority:

socialism = social security

capitalism = crony capitalism

If they get socialism they will hate it, too. They will be shocked that there are no Starbucks coffee shops, no Nike shoes and Iphones…

I cain’t figure what they’re going to divide up.

#1: potatoes
#2: potatoe blight
#3: turnips
#4: leave my cornbread and my damn turnip greens alone, I’m a socialist.

I always find these polls interesting. When you actually pin down these knuckle dragger and ask what socialism is none have any answer even remotely factual.

gibbie: To the uninformed majority: socialism = social security. capitalism = crony capitalism.

That’s an important point. People have different ideas of the terms, so you can’t jump to the conclusion that people in the poll who have a positive view of “socialism” want the entire economy controlled by the government, nor that people in the poll who have a positive view of “capitalism” support an unrestrained market system.

It’s also important to note that those who have a favorable view of socialism and those who have a favorable view of capitalism constitute more than 100%. That means at least some of the people have a favorable view of both. As the most successful modern systems are mixed, that is consistent with the point about what people mean by socialism and capitalism.

Furthermore, the headline is not supported by the poll results. For those who have a positive view of both, they may prefer one or the other, or believe they do not constitute a clear binary choice.

To the uninformed and uninvolved, socialism is shorthand for “do what I meant.”
Opinions from such as they should be discounted and blackholed before reading.

henrybowman: To the uninformed and uninvolved, socialism is shorthand for “do what I meant.”

No. You could argue that pure socialism means, per Merriam-Webster, “any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.” Or you could read a bit further, and understand that socialism can also refer to social democracy.

The Dhimmi-crats are neo-communists. They can market their socioeconomic agenda and platform with whatever slogans, euphemisms and rhetoric that they choose. “Social justice.” “Equity.” “Reparations.” But, at the end of the day, the vile Dhimmi-crats are gleefully engaged in vilifying and denigrating business owners and wealthy Americans; in denigrating free market capitalism; in supporting a redistribution of wealth via onerous taxation and profligate entitlements; supporting ever-intrusive state interference with, and, de facto control over, industries; and, fomenting resentments and division between races and classes. Just like the Bolsheviks and communists of old.

In short, it’s the old tension between the independent and productive, and the dependent and parasitic.

Wherever there are men, there will be parties… Those of firm health and spirits are unwilling to cede more of their liberty than is necessary to preserve order; those of feeble constitutions will wish to see one strong arm able to protect them from the many. These are the Whigs and Tories of nature… The Tories are for strengthening the Executive and General Government; the Whigs cherish the representative branch and the rights reserved by the States as the bulwark against consolidation.
    –THOMAS JEFFERSON

Well there is a lot to denigrate when it comes to free market capitalism. For example, water quality, pollution, employment rights, health care, access to justice, disproportionate impacts on education, wealth gaps, the list goes on and on. At it’s most basic level democratic socialism is about society agreeing that certain things are good like health care for example and that universal health care would both be better for society and cheaper in the case of the US
