NY Times aids Senator McCaskill in ducking whistleblower story

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill (D) has had a rough few weeks. First, a lawsuit from an employee came to light revealing that her husband’s business is being sued for sexual harassment. Then, whistleblower audio revealed that it appears her husband was cutting deals in the U.S. Senate dining room involving selling tax credits for stimulus funds.

Now she has a messy coverup on her hands. It appears, according to the Daily Caller, that the New York Times not only has been covering the whistleblower story up by neglecting to publish the story, which they’ve had for months, but the paper also has been found to have provided information to McCaskill about the whistleblower’s criminal background. The Daily Caller reports:

A spokeswoman for Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill’s re-election campaign told The Daily Caller that the senator and her husband first learned the criminal background of the man speaking out McCaskill’s husband’s business dealings from The New York Times.

McCaskill spokeswoman Caitlin Legacki told TheDC on Friday that she thinks McCaskill and her husband Joseph Shepard discovered Craig Woods’ criminal background “[w]hen the New York Times told me in June that he’s a felon.”

…If Legacki’s statement is accurate, that would mean the New York Times had some information about McCaskill’s husband’s allegedly nefarious business dealings – specifically relating to Woods’ allegations –  in June, and for some reason decided not to run it. It would also mean the Times provided the McCaskill campaign with the key information it’s using to attack the allegations: Woods’ criminal record.

A New York Times spokesman refused to provide information on the allegations, saying only “We don’t comment on lines of reporting that we might or might not have pursued.”

But does the New York Times comment on allegations of providing names of whistleblowers to democratic Senate candidates?

Meet your Praetorian Guard. The sooner this rag goes out of business, the better for journalism.

This should be a nation scandal.

Drag them out in the daylight. Breitbart them!

The national scandal is that there are so many people in our country who believe that they are free from punishment, so they can do whatever they want. Unfortunately, they’re mostly right.

I agree. But it is important to frame this in history. It was ever thus, really. There has never been a time when bad people didn’t get away with their crimes, and when power didn’t both corrupt and attract the corrupt to it.

It may, in fact, be like Dickens said about “…the best of times…”. Certainly, we now have the tools to make it so.

We will disclose national security secrets and never bat an eye. However, if you’re a nice libtard Senator, we will let you know who’s coming after you. And they wonder why no one reads their fishwrapper. Oy vey!

It’s fine with me if the NYT is so open with their bias. Andy I’m glad this is getting so much publicity. The more open they are, like in this instance, the fewer people there will be who are so stupid as to buy the fishrag.

How insensitive to bring this up when her mother is in the hospital. She has cancelled campaign events. How could you? /sarc

NYT: All the collusion fit to cover up.

What if there was truth in advertising:

Subscribe to the New York Times today — We cover more bird cage bottoms through out the USA than any other newspaper in print today because our reporters want to keep the best and freshest poop from landing on your Democratic re-election bid. Just ask Rep. Anthony Weiner or Charlie Rangel. And now Claire McCaskill!

By the way, isn’t just perfect that the new CEO of the NYT is a guy accused of covering up a child abuse scandal at the BBC for over a decade? These scumballs are made for each other.

Akin is a seriously flawed candidate – a potentially ticking time bomb. But finally, McCaskill may have trumped his flaws and given the electorate of MO something they needed to finally come out in greater numbers for Akin. But, it hasn’t happened yet, even though McCaskill has been so unpopular for over a year.

The old gray lady is such a whore ….

Webster’s:
Whore: 1. same as prostitute. 2. The New York Times, ca. 2000 —
/satire off/

Normally, I would say it seems to be odd that all of the stench, rancor, whining seems to be coming from the left.

The NYT, once the stalworth of journalism has been reduced to the role of a rag mop and even then it fails on a regular basis.

Yes folks, journalism IS the world’s dumbest profession…

If I ever find myself in a potential whistleblower position, and the morals of the situation dictate that I must, uh, whistle, you can bet your sweet arse I won’t be whistling to the media. I’ll pick myself out a reliable conservative blogger. There are more honest, reliable conservative bloggers in America than there are honest, reliable newspapers or TV news programs.
