Parler is Back!
This will be one of the great — perhaps the first great — victories over the Big Tech oligopolies who control so much of our lives.
Despite the attempts of the cabal of Amazon Web Services, Google, Apple, and many other high tech monsters to take it down, Parler has been brought back to life.
It’s unclear if Parler is completely back, but I just logged in and the Legal Insurrection page is up and running and we still have almost 400,000 followers. Our prior “parleys” have not populated yet, but I assume that will take time.
The prior Parler App on my iPhone still doesn’t work.

Parler was falsely blamed as being the hub on which the Capitol Hill Riot was planned, but examination of DOJ indictments shows that Facebook and to a lesser extent Twitter were the central hubs — yet no one shut them down. Parler was shut down because it was viewed as a place for Trump supporters, the rest of the excuses were pretext.
It comes none-too-soon, as media and leftist types were relishing the thought of Parler being gone for good.

Parler moved to a new computer server farm, and the 20 million users on the platform when Amazon Web Services shut off the social media platform on Jan. 11 can begin using their old app and logins Monday, Interim CEO Mark Meckler told Just the News.
Some existing users were already live on Monday morning and the rest should have access by midday after the new servers propagated across the internet. New users should be able to sign up for the service within a week or so, Meckler said.
“We are off of the big tech platform, so that we can consider ourselves safe and secure for the future,” Meckler said in an interview.
Meckler said the platform is using artificial intelligence and human editors to police for illegal speech that violates its service agreement but otherwise is remaining true to its free speech, no censorship roots.
“Cancel culture came for us, and hit us with all they had. Yet we couldn’t be kept down. We’re back, and we’re ready to resume the struggle for freedom of expression, data sovereignty, and civil discourse. We thank our users for their loyalty during this incredibly challenging time,” said Dan Bongino, a prominent Parler user and shareholder.

I tried to sibn up on Parler before they were censored and ran into all sorts of problems, that has not changed. It is buggy.

GAB is the way to go: own servers, own embed program, own everything except DNS registrar….

Sorry Parler lost its credibility after they fired the last CEO for suggesting that it should take a stronger stance on Nazi and Neo Nazi groups using the platform.

IF you were concerned with censorship, you would consider the refusal to censor even National Socialists a good thing. Once upon a time a non-WOKE ACLU defended the right of the US National Socialists to parade through Skokie, IL – at the time IIRC the single US location with the most Holocaust survivors.
So we know you support censorship, but just censoring of people/groups of whom/which you disapprove. As the old story goes, speech which has general approval isn’t in need of protection, it is the speech which is disapproved which needs protection.

Indeed. This morning I checked the temperature where friends live, way up north – Watertown, NY. Watertown was 16 degrees and here in Texas I had 6 degrees. That’s just not right! If you are concerned about censorship, then I suggest you get not only accounts on Parler and Gab, but also Mastodon/Fediverse.
The Fediverse is so much harder to censor.
I plan on staying on GAB and Parler (and Telegram and Signal).
If we average citizens who remain fond of free speech have learned anything, it is: 1) support the alternative outlets (such as the above-named, and on the news-information front, OAN / Revolver / National Pulse / Gateway Pundit and America’s Voice); and 2) Maintain a “Plan A” and “Plan B.”
Finally, we should start divesting ourselves of supporting the evil side: in recent months I’ve dumped Hulu and Netflix (and am getting an OTR antenna, after which I’ll dump cable). I refused to patronize Facebook and Twitter and Instagram — but if I had, I would have dumped them too for Parler / GAB.
Still use Facebook for the family and some photography groups I can’t yet duplicate elsewhere. Been trying to move the family to Mewe but it isn’t easy.
But yes, to the extent people can do these things, it helps to stop feeding the beast. Cutting cable (or cutting back), cutting back on social media, etc. People who can’t cut all the way can cut some, and every bit helps.

I’m on Gab. They have a plan and constantly improve. The number of followers for big names on there is really getting high, plus reposts, likes, etc. Comments are like drinking from a firehose.
I have had no use for twitter (inveighing against the use of “twittercrap” as a substitute for writing an article), nor have I for facebook. I may well sign up for Parler, not because I will use it but just to add to their number of “users”.
Do true freedom a favor: get on Gab.

Other than adding a single (non)user to their number, there isn’t much to recommend my getting on either Parler or Gab. I simply don’t use or have any use for any “social media”. I guess commenting on sites like LI or Red State is something of a form of social media, but that is all I use. Otherwise if I wish to communicate with someone – I use the cell phone (which my wife of 54 years keeps trying to tell me is a computer when I know it is just a telephone without wires).
The lesson in the Parler episode is that we absolutely, positively must be independent of ANY swamp or fascist tech facility.
The good news is that it’s coming back online, hiccups and all.
While they chase the likes of Parler to sabotage it again, the likes of Parler have to ever-maintain tech vigilance. This is war, after all.

Apparently, in a recent case (Malwarebytes, Inc v Enigma Software Group LLC No 19-1284 October 13, 2020) that failed to get “cert” at the SCOTUS, Justice Thomas mapped out a way to file for a reinterpretation of section 230. Thomas says that the caselaw doesn’t match a clear reading of the law.
