Twitter Permanently Bans Trump’s Personal Twitter Account so Trump joins Parler (Update – Google Suspends Parler App)

Twitter Permanently Bans Trump’s Personal Twitter Account so Trump joins Parler (Update – Google Suspends Parler App)

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Twitter banned President Donald Trump’s personal Twitter account.

Twitter put the account on a 12-hour lockdown Wednesday after the riots at Capitol Hill. The platform restored it after he deleted the offending three tweets.

But the suspension put Trump in a pickle. If he messed up again then Twitter would permanently suspend it. I have no idea how these two tweets measure up to Twitter’s standards, but okay:

On January 8, 2021, President Donald J. Trump tweeted:

“The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future. They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

Shortly thereafter, the President tweeted:

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.”

Due to the ongoing tensions in the United States, and an uptick in the global conversation in regards to the people who violently stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, these two Tweets must be read in the context of broader events in the country and the ways in which the President’s statements can be mobilized by different audiences, including to incite violence, as well as in the context of the pattern of behavior from this account in recent weeks. After assessing the language in these Tweets against our Glorification of Violence policy, we have determined that these Tweets are in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy and the user @realDonaldTrump should be immediately permanently suspended from the service.

Can we get more Orwellian?

  • The second Tweet may also serve as encouragement to those potentially considering violent acts that the Inauguration would be a “safe” target, as he will not be attending.
  • The use of the words “American Patriots” to describe some of his supporters is also being interpreted as support for those committing violent acts at the US Capitol.

UPDATE by WAJ:

Let’s see how long our account at Twitter stays up, we’ll either be banned or we’ll leave. We’ve been expecting this for a long time.

Trump has joined Parler, via Newsweek:

Fox News host Sean Hannity said on Thursday that President Donald Trump has an account on Parler, a social media platform pitched as an alternative to Twitter that has become a popular destination for conservatives.

Hannity said the president had signed up to the platform during a segment that featured former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders alongside right-wing commentator and radio host Dan Bongino—an investor in the app.

“I saw that the president had joined it. At least there is a place, it’s like Twitter, it’s called Parler, I have an account there… good for you because the president joined, because they are censoring him and Dan Scavino and everybody else,” Hannity said.

That must be why Parler is crashing tonight, the traffic from people signing up must be immense.

Add youtube. Youtube has more to lose financially by alienating Trump supporters so they tend to lag a little behind the Left wing Big Tech torch and pitchfork frontline.

But they’ve made some move in the Big Tech’s Friday social media Night of the Long Knives. For example, Bannon’s site was ghosted by their Ministry of Truth commissars.

Oh for heaven’s sake, most of us are on FB and Instagram to watch what’s going on with our kids and grandkids or friends from different stages of our lives. Anyone who relies on it to affect their political views is just a fool.

And everything you do and say is being actively monitored. Everything that is personal in your life is being captured and analyzed by strangers. They know all your friends and family, and how close you are to each. Everything they like and dislike. To what purpose they end up analyzing that data is up to them. You think you have nothing to hide? Any “microaggression” will do. A microaggression is something they make up to be offended about from a comment you did not intend to offend with, but they need something to go after you with, and one way of going after you is to target your family, and your friends. Why do you want your personal life left open to strangers who may show no mercy or temperance or indulgence in diversity of thought, viewpoint of opinion.

They have silenced a sitting president of the United States. What will the restrain from doing to you? Get on their bad side and they will cancel you, or your family and friends. You can be fired, or people could show up at your door and kick it in and break windows. Luckily, this will be mostly peaceful in their eyes, because you will have deserved it.

You give them such power because it’s convenient, I suppose.

Now how will he spend all his time?

My account at twitter long gone – facebook is closing monday.

I wonder if they know what kind of bear they are poking with these actions or if they truly think that millions of conservatives are just going to be fine with being shut out and shut down.

The crackdown on ‘Trump supporters’ is just getting started.

You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

Comrade Beijing Biden isn’t even in office yet. But the new Senate and House are. And they plan to try to ram through a second impeachment.

FWIW, some have reported anonymous sources say they may have the votes in the Senate for conviction.

Comrade China Joe and his Vanguard Party are using the ‘Assault on the Capital’ to crack down on political opponents as Hitler and the Nazis used the Reichstag Fire. The Left will demand they either bend the knee or suffer the consequences. Many Republican Senators are already bending the knee.

BTW, all of this would have happened even if nothing had happened on Jan 6. They would have contrived some other pretense.

BEdwards in reply to JHogan. | January 8, 2021 at 8:29 pm

No one can “crack down” on Trump supporters if they leave these social media sites. Come on, NO ONE needs Facebook, Twitter or Instagram to survive. I got rid of Twitter and FB two months ago and Instagram is next.

I wonder who all of the leftists and celebs will dump on now that Donald Trump is banned from Twitter? Stephen King and so many “celebs” do nothing on their accounts but bash Trump and use him to get the attention they so desperately crave. How will they keep anyone looking at their accounts and feeding their fragile egos if Trump is gone?

No one needs social media, true, but the remark was wider in scope. To say there has been no crackdown flies in the face of facts.

Not to mention that the chill on free speech overall, a societal crackdown.

Until social media is gone, however, the Democrats have a willing partner, or perhaps overlord. At least with the government, you have a semblance of civil rights.

Hope enough people will finally see, but it’s the dupes who remain on social media, like Pavlov’s dogs, that will gladly follow along, in worship of a truth that takes precedence over facts. And instills hate for other ideas.

JHogan in reply to BEdwards. | January 8, 2021 at 10:40 pm

The social media crackdown is only the tip of the approaching iceberg.

Voyager in reply to BEdwards. | January 9, 2021 at 12:33 am

Social media is the mist visible. Several major CEOs sent out bulk emails to their corporations asserting that there are no doubts about the credibility of the election.

Given that nearly half the country believes the election was fraudulent, saying that there are no doubts is false on its face, but the unspoken threat is your job goes away if you don’t agree.

Further, the email providers operate with the same TOS as the social media groups, and can delete email accounts the same way.

randian in reply to JHogan. | January 9, 2021 at 4:09 pm

The reason they’re trying to ram through impeachment now is successful impeachment allows them to make Trump ineligible for a future Presidential term, but once he’s out of office I think it’s too late to impeach him. The question is whether they’ve cowed the Republicans enough to get the 2/3 vote required in the Senate.

I’ll be deleting my Twitter and Facebook accounts this week.

Hit that button and look for something that covers cookies, or security or privacy.

Usually it asks you if you want to delete all cookies, or some different types of cookies.

Be aware, when you delete all cookies, sites that you usually skip logging into because their cookies are on your computer, when the cookies are gone, you’ll need to log in to those sites. Meaning, make sure you know where your user names and passwords are, before you delete the cookies.

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to jolanthe. | January 10, 2021 at 6:25 pm

There will be a history of everything you entered and the changes made, and when.

If people were really devious, they would close their current accounts and open ones under fake names and enter fake data and stream fake activity across it. Bad data would make the value of that data to decrease.

Do not go to Twitter for any reason, drop it like a hot rock.

I have deleted my seldom used Twitter account (zero tweets, zero followed/followers). Opened a Parlor account a few weeks ago.

I’ve got three Twitter accounts. Two I pretty much don’t use which will be closing.

The main one will be left open for at least a month to implore people to quit Twitter.

I don’t use Facebook already so that’s taken care of.

    mark311 in reply to Anchovy. | January 9, 2021 at 4:32 am

I think you need to put it into context. If you are president you wield a massive platform and your words have power. If you are joe blogs saying stuff then the standard is likely to be lower. Just don’t directly incite as opposed to whip up supporters.

“That must be why Parler is crashing tonight, the traffic from people signing up must be immense.”

Also, the Lefties will be launching DoS attacks of one sort or another on a regular basis. The cyber attacks on Parler have probably just begun.

Will this put thousands of journalists out of work considering they just monitored Donald Trump’s twitter account and yelled at him?

The Parler app is down, but not the website. Apple came through with their threat to shut it down.

You don’t need the App to use Parler.
Your phone has an internet browser. Use it to go to the website. Avoid using Chrome or Safari.

Deplorable Janos in reply to Exiliado. | January 9, 2021 at 1:46 pm

You can use Duck Duck Go to “search” for Parler too. They do not use/allow trackers, so it may be safer than other internet choices.

Who didn’t see this coming? I mean, who honestly and with an above room temperature IQ did not? Especially now.

And let’s be blunt. There’s plenty of blame to go around, chief among them those who were supposedly on our side and Trump’s but who were quick to jerk the knee, regurgitate the left’s narrative about the Capital Hill “Riot”, and blame Trump. Professor Jacobson and Mary Chastain are our honored hosts and their commentary has usually been a source of pride and quality. But their track record between the 6th and 8th was not one of those high points.

Mark Steyn years ago made a valuable point about the need to “Share the Danger” and Spread the Harm, especially after the Danish Cartoon murders. If I had an enduring complaint with that it’s that it doesn’t go far enough. Jumping ship will PROBABLY not protect you, but it will give them justification.

If you give these scumbags an inch, they WILL take several miles. That doesn’t mean self-censor, but it does mean wait until you have all the information and do not believe without evidence.

    mark311 in reply to Turtler. | January 9, 2021 at 4:29 am

You regurgitating facts, the Trump rioters videoed themselves being stupid. What would you expect? If you commit a crime perhaps it would be best to do it discretely. There is a genuine discussion on incitement to violence in the discourse. If you are to blind to accept that Trump and some of his followers have had role in that then you should take those blinders of.

      Turtler in reply to mark311. | January 9, 2021 at 6:11 am

      “You regurgitating facts,”

Yes I am. That is one of the things that separates me from you, sleazebag.

” the Trump rioters videoed themselves being stupid.”

      Irrelevant in this particular case.

Also, are you going to ignore the confirmed AntifA tard who “somehow’ managed to get inside the building near the very start of the “rioters”?

      https://www.deseret.com/utah/2021/1/7/22219733/utah-activist-inside-u-s-capitol-says-woman-killed-was-first-to-try-and-enter-house-chamber-sullivan

      “What would you expect?”

      Equivalent enforcement of the law.

Which is absolutely not what has happened.

” If you commit a crime perhaps it would be best to do it discretely.”

This would be more convincing if we hadn’t seen months upon months underlining that even semi-forceful entry into these buildings was not a crime the powers that be were willing th persecute on a large sclae….at least when done by Left Wing mobs in Left Wing Jurisdictions.

“There is a genuine discussion on incitement to violence in the discourse. ”

What overheated gobbledegook trying to make yourself look special.

No, there really isn’t “a genuine discussion” on it.

And if you want to prove otherwise, *point to the specific words that would be construed as incitement to violence.*

THAT would kind of be your first step to even making that case.

And yet how many of the scumsuckers such as yourself have even done so?

“If you are to blind to accept that Trump and some of his followers have had role in that then you should take those blinders of.”

Right, I’M the blind one, but you and your fellows are the ones who cannot actually form a coherent case or summary describing which of Trump’s words were “incitement.”

Ironically your opponents here have done a much better job detailing statements that COULD be interpreted as incitement by the likes of Harris, AOC, Biden, etc. than you have to Trump.

What does that say about you?

It says that you are a fundamentally dishonest and unserious person who apparently cannot or will not bring the receipts. In spite of that being the very first thing you should expect to do.

      caseoftheblues in reply to mark311. | January 9, 2021 at 9:16 am

And yet for 9 months it was made perfectly clear that proresting… no matter what form it took including burning down city blocks and Federal buildings was to be admired and had NO consequences

Brave Sir Robbin in reply to caseoftheblues. | January 10, 2021 at 6:38 pm

Exactly – which is why this heavy handed reaction will be seen as hypocritical and likely to only inflame the divide.

If Biden wanted to de-escalate, he would not call the people who want fair elections “near-seditious,” and stop calling them rioters when over the summer rioters and looters were called “mostly peaceful protesters.” But could perhaps say he, too, wants every vote counted in free, open, and fair elections, and to that end, appoint a special Senate Committee with subpoena power to investigate the election, and allow a Republican to chair that committee. After all, if it were such a free and fair election, why not allow people to investigate?

Unfortunately, Republican leadership on all this has been less than stellar, and I am not sure the Republican rank and file would trust their leadership to investigate.

Faced with similar oligarchic tyranny the Russian citizens developed the Samizdat. We may have to do the same.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Comanche Voter. | January 8, 2021 at 8:54 pm

    Is this it?

    Samizdat

Samizdat was a form of dissident activity across the Eastern Bloc in which individuals reproduced censored and underground makeshift publications, often by hand, and passed the documents from reader to reader.Wikipedia

Yes. Books and other reading materials prohibited by the communist party were reproduced underground; sometimes by copier and sometimes written by hand. George Orwell gives an example of Samizdat in his novel 1984. In the novel it is “The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism”; often referred to simply as “Goldstein’s book”. In 1984’s world, Goldstein’s book could be considered very seditious to the ruling party. In the real world Soviet Union; most of the banned works were pretty mundane.

    Hmmmmmm……

    Samizdat.is

Samizdat is a browser-based Web censorship circumvention library, easily deployable on any website.

Thinking about Samizdat reminded me I have an old emergency radio. It’s dinky, but turns out it can receive shortwave signals— badly. Gives an appropriate midcentury vibe to the situation,

The next person that mentions “Twitter” is going to be insulted by me.

I’m extremely disappointed Trump went to Parler. Software matters, hardware matters, being hardened against deplatforming matters.

http://www.Gab.com was deplatformed years ago by the apple and google app stores, by the credit card companies, by hosting companies, by embed companies, etc. And Gab has a superb interface.

Parler is not ready for all the deplatforming that is coming its way.

Trump chose wrong. Parler will now attract the $$ to improve, but Gab is already there, except for such a large influx, like Parler, they will need additiional servers. But that’s it.

Parler works worse than an unfolding lawn chair. Very seriously, much worse. It’s horrible. appreciate their effort, but not good enough when Gab does great. Truly a good program/site.

50 million in Washington DC would slow things down quite a bit.

You Trumpbillies sure to seem to be upset at your permanent powerlessness. ?

To be honest – the Communists are not being very efficient about this. It would have been much smarter (from their point of view) to have used the Justice Department to freeze any bank accounts connected to Parler or its CEO (any #Resistance Federal judge would gladly have done it). Then make some threatening noises at the ISP and credit card companies, and they would pee in their pants and drop Parler.

Instead, what happened today looks like a couple of Antifa soibois got stoned out of their gourds and decided to firebomb an outhouse. The whole thing looks clumsy and poorly though out, since it loudly signaled to anyone else the Left want to kill (the NRA, Gab, MeWe, etc.) to get ready for an assault. Stupid.

Trump keeps doing things they don’t expect. He keeps them off balance. He makes them react before they’ve thought it through. They haven’t learned a thing in five years. Other than to fear Trump.

Since GHWB, Reagan’s Brutus, they’ve grown accustomed to predictable milquetoast GOPe responses.

Now they are, IMO, once again grossly overreacting and underestimating Trump and his support. They assume they can get away with it. After all, they have the media, Big Tech, the GOPe, and the ChiComs on their side.

I have a website and with it comes email. So I pay for email.

This means my email isn’t read, for the most part, by 3rd parties with no business reading my email and they aren’t sending me ads based upon my email.

Unfortunately, when I exchange emails from folks with a gmail account, after that I start seeing ads for things we discussed.

You can sell your data to google for free email, or you can pay for the service and be respected. I choose being respected.

Maybe it is time to poke some fun at Twitter – using their own platform..

If you still have a Twitter account why not try this? Post something like “The 2020 election was stolen by the Communists using massive voting fraud.” and screen-shot it. Then screen-shot the inevitable Twitter suspension/ban and post it on Gab, Parler, MeWe, here at LI – anywhere people will see it.

Let’s wear Twitter’s ignorance, hate, bigotry, and intolerance as a badge of honor.

I have a Gmail account that I find very useful: it’s the address I give when requsted by any site or person that I don’t want to hear back from. It’s sort of a huge trash bin that I don’t bother to check, I let annoyers rot in.

F*ck G00gle. I have a copy of the Parler apk, so I can install and re-install it on my Android devices any time it becomes necessary. Happy to share that apk file with anyone who can’t get it on G00gle any longer.

As a Homebrewer I subscribe($ like this site) to one of the biggest homebrewer forums on the internet, and even there they censor your right to free speech. Once I mentioned a few years ago when Barak Hussein Obama was a homebrewer and they he had a few recipes to share, I chimed in. My response was only that I didn’t think he could boil water (the first step in the process). I was immediately banned from the site for days. The internet doesn’t provide any rights what so ever and Apple, YouTube, Google, etc. aren’t going to give you any either if you don’t agree with their agenda.
