Nancy Pelosi Re-elected as Democratic House Leader
Democrats lost so many seats that Pelosi will have only a small majority if she becomes Speaker when the new Congress is sworn in.
80-year-old Nancy Pelosi has been re-elected as leader of the Democratic house caucus meaning she’ll run for Speaker of the House again if Democrats hold a house majority when all of the election mess has been settled.
Pelosi signaled this would be her last term but said she didn’t want to give up any leverage by officially saying this would be her last term.
More from Fox News:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who’s just been tapped by Democrats to run for speaker for a seventh and eighth year, signaled in a series of vague comments Wednesday that this term could be her last as leader of the House.
“At the start of this Congress, there was a discussion about putting in place some kind of term limits for the leadership team. I’m curious if you anticipate this coming Congress would be your last as Speaker,” a reporter asked Pelosi in a news conference.
“When that conversation took place, there was a move to put limits on the leadership and chairs of committees,” the California Democrat said. “They said they were going to do it. They didn’t do it. Whether it passes or not, I will abide by those limits that are there.”
“So is that a kind of Shermanesque statement?” the reporter asked.
“No, it’s not. It’s a statement that I made,” Pelosi said. “Listen, if my husband is listening, don’t let me have to be more specific than that. because we never expected to have another term now.”
“I consider this a gift and I can’t wait to work with Joe Biden,” she continued. “I don’t want to undermine any leverage I have but I made that statement.”
Democrats met virtually Wednesday morning to select their top leaders for the 117th Congress. Pelosi ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination for Speaker. The GOP will run House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.
The full House of Representatives elects the speaker when it convenes on Jan, 3. The winning candidate for speaker requires an outright majority of the entire House. In other words, 218 votes out of 435.
Despite Pelosi’s projection of a blue wave, Democrats have barely held onto a House majority.
Hard to blog about Pelosi’s prospects without revisiting her most recent glitch where she literally malfunctions and resets on live TV.

This is the way gerontocracy works. Performance or popularity are irrelevant. All that matters is keeping power for as long as possible.
She will be dethroned.
Shocker… the Dhimmi-crats are nothing if not utterly narcissistic and tone-deaf, vis-a-vis the non-coastal electorate.
If they’re dumb enough to keep the corrupt scumbag, we here are happy to have her.
May she drop dead on live tv.
If she wants to do the Ginsburg Mistake, I’ll dance to it.
Pelosi is like an antibiotic resistant STD.
So the outgoing House members kept her in place, even though the vote for Speaker doesn’t actually happen till January.
I have a feeling the voter fraud included other races, but they didn’t have the time to phony the voting enough in those races to make the gains they were looking to steal. They were too busy filling out phony ballots against President Trump. Though I am sure that MI stole that seat from John James given the massive fraud they pushed there. Doing House seats is tougher till they get to count the bogus mail in ballots.
There are more ways for the Democratic Party to commit suicide than are dreamt of in your philosophy, Horatio.
“I consider this a gift and I can’t wait to work with Joe Biden,” she continued.”
If Joe Biden is smart–and he ain’t–he’d soon realize he really doesn’t want to work with Nancy.
As Rush pointed out again this morning, Biden is only the stalking horse and will be pushed aside. They really were installing Harris the only way they could, with the expectation that the real power will once again rest with Obama.
A number of conservatives suggested that Pelosi would not be re-elected as Speaker by her Communist Party. They forget that Communism allows no dissent – ever.
Remember that she got the entire Party (except one) to walk the plank on impeachment even though it almost cost the Communists the majority. Independent thinking is racist, sexist, transphobic homophobic, Islamophobic, etc. You will always have the right to agree with our Communist overlords – and no other rights at all.
Never underestimate the power of totalitarianism and its utter destruction of even the tiniest spark of humanity.
Is “gerontocracy” Greek for “crime family”?
In 1972 the Democrats were the party of youth. 48 years later the same generation is still in charge.
I second that. All my classmates were strident about “never trusting The Man.”
30 years later, I realized that only applied to the Republi-Can.
“Never trust anyone over thirty.”
She makes me nauseous.
Who does her makeup?
Being queen has significant benefits and she ain’t giving those up
The top three dems in the House are all over the age of 80, Pelodi, Hoyer and Clyburn.
Being First Lady comes with significant benefits too. Jill Biden is frantically adjusting Joe’s meds and counting the days.
To keep him going or not to keep him going?
.
Oh, it’s going to be great fun hearing about the cat fights between fake Dr. Jill and Kamala Harris as to who is actually running the country – Joe or the Hoe. Because you just know that after Joe is installed as President Harris is going to do everything in her power to take over.
Just imagine Pelosi and Biden having a conversation on nuclear proliferation.
Electing a party caucus leader a month and a half before swearing in the recently elected new Congress is flagrantly undemocratic.
Another log to fuel the fire of the revolt raging already among House Dems. Those incoming Dems have been deprived of their most important first vote.
Even among themselves, they practice the same anti-democratic tactics to deny self-rule. Why should any House Democrat be happy right now? Let the bloodbath begin!
It really doesn’t matter if Democrats hold the house by 3 seats or 300…when was the last time Democrats voted anything down proposed by Democrats?
A few have said it’s best they have a stammering old fool as their leader. Her statements lately are no better than Sundowners.
I was brought up to believe you never strike a woman.
But then I was also brought up to believe in “one man, one vote”
Talk about giving snow to Eskimos (can you even say “Eskimo any more?)! It strikes me that the chances of the Democrats maintaining a majority in the House in 2022 are pretty low. Item #1 on the agenda in 2023: Impeach Corrupt Joe–the Democrats’ impeachment of Trump shows that there is no political price to be paid for politically motivated impeachments. It’ll become kind of a right of passage for any president when the opposing party controls the House.
If Trump isn’t successful in contesting this election, the Dems will have two more years to refine their software to make sure that they hold the House and gain the Senate.
Well… I wouldn’t call the election over as yet.
