NYC CEOs Demand De Blasio Do Something About Skyrocketing Crime
“We need to send a strong, consistent message that our employees, customers, clients and visitors will be coming back to a safe and healthy work environment.”
New York City has seen crime numbers go up since the death of George Floyd and the backlash against the police. Videos show people destroying and looting nationwide brands to small businesses.
Now CEOs of 160 corporations demanded New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio take action against the skyrocketing crime in the city and quality of life.
From The New York Post:
“There is widespread anxiety over public safety, cleanliness and other quality of life issues that are contributing to deteriorating conditions in commercial districts and neighborhoods across the five boroughs,” the powerful business leaders wrote to de Blasio on Thursday.
“We need to send a strong, consistent message that our employees, customers, clients and visitors will be coming back to a safe and healthy work environment. People will be slow to return unless their concerns about security and the livability of our communities are addressed quickly and with respect and fairness for our city’s diverse populations,” they wrote.
“We urge you to take immediate action to restore essential services as a necessary precursor for solving the city’s longer term, complex, economic challenges,” the letter added.
Republican candidate for mayor and Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa told de Blasio “to wake up and get this city back on track” because it’s foolish to push people to go back to work among the mess in the streets.
Even the Democratic candidate for mayor Maya Wiley applauded the corporations for providing support for the “basic services” needed across the city. Wiley noted that everyone in the city needs to step in and push de Blasio to fix the problems.
In July, de Blasio and the city council ripped millions from the budgets of the NYPD and sanitation.
Crime has gone up, but so has the rat population. Trash is picked up three times a week, leaving garbage piled on the streets.
De Blasio’s press secretary said that the office wants “to restore these services and save jobs,” which means they need help from everyone.
It sounds like if the city restored the money to the police and sanitation the problem should get fixed easily.

(Real name) Werner is too busy pumping city funds into his wife’s bank account to deal with “crime”. If there is ever an honest DA in that $hithole, I imagine they will find he stole billions of dollars. Maybe he can hire a few social workers as cannon fodder as he “defunds” the cops. I can’t imagine why the “stock exchange” stays there and pays tribute to the corrupt government on every trade they make. They could save billions by moving to Florida or Texas.

There’s a sort of cultural tribalism, too. Xerox moved their HQ to Conn. Boeing to Chicago. You could argue for adjacency to finance houses n so on. In fact it’s for the team signaling: “We really are a real company, see?” (How’d that work out, BTW?)

LOL, he’ll “do something” alright. It will probably involve increasing your taxes and demonizing you as greedy capitalists.
People deserve the government they vote for, and NYC deserves to get fucked because they were idiots enough to elect a Socialist.

He may not like them, but he likes their money and he’s smart enough to realize that w/o business investment in his city there’s no wealth for him to tax. De Blasio was a booster of the Amazon HQ in Long Island City, it was AOC who scuttled the deal.
It was a combination of AOC, The Hereditary Proconsul, De Bo Bo, and El Heffe of Amazonia that scuttled that.
I was grumping that there was no way for them all loose on that, yet they found a way. Creative and flexible. Working together. One wonders what they could accomplish were they that creative n flexible about doing actual stuff vs wrangling rake-off “deals?”
NYC has received a strong, consistent message that de Blasio and the city council are more concerned about the BLM, defunding cops, and the “woke” policies of the liberal left.

He’s done – timed out on term limits. Now he’s just slurping up all the gravy he can while there’s still a little bit left, and causing all the mischief possible, I guess out of some kind of Democrat spite and an instinct for making the machine grow bigger and harder to control.

If NY’s Finest doesn’t have the stones to rid their city of this criminal F them. It’s their job, not ours. Just because he was elected means nothing compared to his blatant criminal activity. The letter should have been sent to Cuomo, who legally could remove DeBlasio. They should have said that they are considering their long term presence in NY City and, if they decide to leave the city, they will leave the state.
The CEOs would be better off by firing every leftist executive they have. It’s plainly obvious not that the leftist executive actions and support for leftist causes is not consistent with their businesses objective of staying in existence.
de Blasio couldn’t lead a one car funeral.
DiBlasio is doing something; in fact TWO things.
1) He is caving to the BLM and other leftists by slashing the police budget.
2) He is blaming Trump.
So you can say he is doing SOMETHING. Don’t expect it to work to solve his ballooning crime rate, but he can try.
