Yale Professor Compares Trump’s Presidency to the Rise of Nazi Germany

Yawn. How many more times must we hear this ridiculous argument? Trump has been a more pro-peace president than Obama was.

You’ve likely heard the stereotype that academics “live in an ivory tower,” and in many cases it’s all too accurate.
One Yale University professor recently proved it in a big way.
Speaking to Amy Goodman of “Democracy Now!,” Professor of Philosophy Jason Stanley confirmed the host’s premise that President Trump’s “Law and Order” campaign slogan is “feeding racist violence and chaos.”
“Fascism is a cult of the leader who promises national restoration in the face of supposed threats by leftist radicals, minorities and immigrants,” Stanley told Goodman. “He promises only he can save us. In the RNC, what we saw is we saw a cult of the leader. The Republicans didn’t even bother to provide a platform. They just said, ‘Whatever Trump wants.’”
No doubt the residents of Portland, Seattle, New York, Washington DC, Minneapolis and Kenosha, Wisconsin consider those threats “supposed.”
Stanley, who once said “Fuck those assholes” to peers who differed from his views on homosexuality and claimed critics of leftist “crybullies” are the real threat to campus free speech, notes that when his book “How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them” came out two years ago, people “accused [him] of hysteria.” He asserts folks’ reasons for that claim “have fallen to the wayside.”
But have they? Consider:
— The Trump administration “tacitly endorses” right-wing militias. Where? When? How? Stanley doesn’t elucidate, but he does compare this supposed “endorsement” to Nazi Germany’s looking the other way while fascist thugs roughed up Jews in the 1930s.

This reveals a very tenuous grasp of the workings of the National Socialist state.
It wasn’t all that long ago that Yale was considered a serious institution of higher learning. But the tower this prof lives in isn’t made of ivory, but something cheaper and nastier.
At least metaphorically, the tower is made of the same materials as Obama’s Greek columns.

Well, I guess that Yale professors don’t really have much to think about and all the students have to do is show up and agree.
The more expensive the university, the dumber the faculty.
These pathetic attention whores in academia are always trying to up their game in their comedic yet sad effort to acquire relevance. I’d be more impressed if one of them proved they could fit a fourth billiard ball in their mouth and outdo the guy on the cover of Exile on Main Street.

The thing is, “Trump is fascist” is a self-refuting statement. Because if you really believed that then you’d realize you’d better keep your mouth shut.
The very fact that you feel free enough to say such things can only mean that you don’t really believe them.
My suggestion to the Learned Professor is to get back to us when Trump outlaws other political parties, rounds up his opponents and puts them in concentration camps, passes laws making certain groups second-class citizens, starts WW III and commits genocide. Until, this guy is an idiot.

Well in ’30s Germany the Left (both Socialist and Communist) took to the streets in efforts to gain ascendance over the other and overthrow the Weimar government. And in the 2020 US we have the Left (both again) taking to the streets in an attempt to topple the government, although this time they aren’t fighting each other, and the people haven’t established an equivalent to the Freikorps – yet.
Yeah, I can see a bit of similarity.
