Not Even 24 Hours Pass Before WHO “Clarifies” Its Statements About Coronavirus Asymptomatic Carriers

Meanwhile, Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning that the “nightmare” pandemic isn’t close to over.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RcJ2yyNkUk

I firmly believe that even if a second wave of coronavirus outbreaks in the fall, Americans will not tolerate a second national lockdown.

Mainly, it is because most of us have lost our trust in the information presented by epidemiological “experts.” These experienced professionals provide guidance that is more fickle than that offered in an astrological horoscope.

For example, yesterday World Health Organization’s Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, an expert in emerging diseases, stated that it was rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a second individual. Not 24 hours later, Kerkhove hand-waved, cited models, and indicated that the possible transmission rate “this is a major unknown.”

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO’s technical lead, said in a video posted on the organization’s Twitter feed that she was referring to a small subset of studies and unpublished information from member states when making the comments.

“I wasn’t stating a policy of WHO or anything like that, I was just trying to articulate what we know,” she said. “And in that I used the phrase ‘very rare,’ and I think that’s a misunderstanding to state that asymptomatic transmission globally is very rare.”

In contact tracing efforts from other countries, secondary transmission from asymptomatic individuals was rarely found, Kerkhove said, but the subject is still “a major unknown.”

She said models that attempt to estimate asymptomatic transmission vary greatly – some predict spread by people without symptoms may make up to 40% of transmissions.

It is quite clear that the bureaucrats who have led the charge in setting the agenda have little intention of quickly allowing life to return to normal. For example, Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning that the “nightmare” pandemic isn’t close to over.

The bleak outlook from Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, comes as the US continues to slowly reopen from lockdown while grappling with massive protests in cities over the police killing of George Floyd.

“In a period of four months, it has devastated the whole world,” Fauci said during a virtual appearance at a conference held by Biotechnology Innovation Organization. “And it isn’t over yet.”

Fauci added that there is still a world of uncertainty around the virus and how it spreads and impacts the body. He said COVID-19 is much more complex that HIV, a virus he spent his career studying, because of the varying levels of seriousness in infections — from asymptomatic carriers to patients who develop fatal conditions.

“Oh my goodness,” Fauci added. “Where is it going to end? We’re still at the beginning of really understanding.”

Yet, not even a week ago, Fauci indicated schools could likely reopen in the fall.

How many people who get infected with the coronavirus remain asymptomatic? Perhaps instead of relying on WHO, we can turn to the US Navy for reliable information:

A new Navy study of hundreds of sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt found that one in five who tested positive for antibodies were asymptomatic, while the majority of the sailors only had mild COVID-19 symptoms.

The study conducted jointly with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) also indicated the possibility that a small number of the tested sailors may have some form of immunity to the novel coronavirus.

The carrier left Guam last week, after a 10-week interruption of its deployment to the western Pacific Ocean as the ship’s crew of 4,865 sailors was quarantined on the island following an outbreak aboard the ship. Ultimately 1,273 sailors, or about 26% of the ship’s crew was infected with the virus, including one who died.

If the virus doesn’t impact 20% of young and healthy people, and most of the others have only mild symptoms, then it is time to direct public health policies towards the vulnerable and freeing the rest to practice good hygiene and personal risk assessment.

It is quite clear to those Americans who aren’t seeking power and chaos that the curve has flattened, hospitals have not been overwhelmed, and that there is a much more robust understanding of the virus and how to treat the infections. Americans will not tolerate further drama driven by the chaos-embracing media and promoted by presumed professionals who want notoriety.

Horton Hears a WHO.

So now that case for the “Safer at Home” and social distancing has been exposes as a fraud, and since the push back against the state-sponsored riots is building, Fauci & Co (WHO, CDC NIH etc..) create yet another phony reason to continue the lockdown heading into the campaign season and elections.

Ditch the masks and abandon the confines of our 6’x6’x6′ personal bubbles. Time to be human beings again. We have an enormous challenge ahead and need to mobile and hostile.

Check your phone. Google has down loaded a “Covid 19” tracer without your consent. This is a tracer that not only traces your movement…but everyone you talked to.

    Kabuki theater.
Facts apparently don’t matter to “our betters”.
Self isolation (which longer than the food in your house lasts was impossible), based on the actual numbers, didn’t significantly protect.
Face masks (the ones the general public has access to), based on the actual numbers, don’t significantly protect. (But by all means, let’s require them anyway, right?)

The “experts” and, by extension, the politicians citing them lied to us.
And not just WHO and their naive transmission of Chinese cover-their-ass lies.
The “shutdown” wasn’t a temporary two-week or so thing.
Politicians based their decisions on who to shut down on which businesses they liked rather than epidemiology (maryjane outlets “essential”, gun sales not, fe).
Or based that decision on uninformed and wth guesses, like outlawing seed sales at otherwise open-for-business outlets.
So it’s no wonder the public has lost faith in what we are told is a must-do.

And the transparency of political bias in shutdown theater has become more and more apparent. Take the whole “when will it end” brouhaha.
Trump wants it to end, because it can’t continue indefinitely, AND it hurts his reelection.
Anti-Trumpers want it to continue, because – see AND above.
When T called for it to end, anti-Ts openly claimed every (EVERY) subsequent CV death would be blood on Ts hands. Conveniently glossing over the fact that even if the shutdown continues for another two years, there WILL be CV deaths, regardless.

There’s an old axiom, you don’t give orders you know won’t be obeyed. It undermines your authority to have other orders obeyed, to little benefit. This would double if the order in question isn’t even required.

The short-term shutdown to “flatten the curve” either worked or was unnecessary (hard to tell failing comparison cases), but the apocalyptic case Did Not Happen. And best guesstimates tell us it won’t happen, even sans future shutdown.

Whatever we do, there WILL be some CV deaths.
Just as unless we ban automobiles, there WILL be some traffic accidents deaths.
Keep reasonable required measures in place, like not sending known CV carriers to be in close proximity with high risk persons (talking to you NY State).
Make questionable but currently required measures (like requiring face masks that don’t actually block virus particles) voluntary to individual persons and businesses.
Stop micromanaging business practices to the point business transactions that people voluntarily wish to risk even knowing there is a risk can not take place.

For context, the Summer Of Love (and Woodstock) happened in the midst of a simularly dangerous pandemic. Which most folks don’t know, given that people will die from disease in Real World.

Viruses are known to be diversitists, keying off color and behavior. Meanwhile, the virus formerly from Wuhan, formally SARS-CoV-2, seem to be evolving – progressing (monotonically) — in Europe with reduced viability.

Halcyon Daze | June 10, 2020 at 3:45 pm

I know! Let’s trade competence for diversity! What could go wrong?

Are these experts familiar with the quaint phrase “go to hell”?

And we can thank the protests for a lot of the losing of the American public. From my perusal elsewhere on the internet, the people who just a few weeks ago were crying out about trusting the scientists, do what they say, stay home as much and as long as you can, wear masks even when outdoors, etc have quietened down quite a bit. I can’t walk outside by myself without wearing a mask but groups of people can gather to protest? Sure, even if they’re wearing masks it’s well-known that the vast majority of them are being worn for show.

I’m personally planning to protest the injustice and inequality in epidemiological outcomes.

2smartforlibs | June 10, 2020 at 3:52 pm

My CHICOM handler reeducated me

Yet I went to a grocery store in purple, use to be red, Round Rock amd STILL 60% were wearing the rags

Rags, Cause that is what they are. I promise you these people are not washing with bleach each day their homemade rags, and the little cute surgical masks are good for 30 minit’s only, epidemiologists determined that 40 years ago! The moisture from your breathing makes them useless after 30 minutes

Peope are nuts nuts nuts

It seems the northern part of Hays County is the only reliably conservative bastion in the Austin area any more.

I’m glad it’s a respiratory virus and not intestinal – imagine an army of Karens scolding you for not wearing your diaper!

Plenty of morons up here on the Llano Estacado too. I try to tell them that they are one crisis behind and to trade their TP stash for ammo. I am having a good time. Please don’t make them stop. Told my doctor if he wanted to do my annual he had to take off his face panties. This is such a good time to be alive.

The shepherd cried ‘Wolf’! when there was no wolf and all the villagers came running to help …

The shepherd cried ‘Wolf’! again when there was no wolf and only a few villagers came …

Then, a wolf appeared and the shepherd cried ‘Wolf’! …

and noone came…

‘WHO’, Fauci, Gates and all the global controlists have failed… I wouldn’t believe them ever again!

Milhouse in reply to LisaGinNZ. | June 10, 2020 at 4:40 pm

Yes, but what is the moral of that story? People seem to miss that. The moral is that even a liar sometimes tells the truth, and if you dismiss what he says just because he’s a liar, you will suffer the consequences. The boy did his duty for once and sounded the alarm, the owners ignored him, and the wolf killed their sheep.

tphillip in reply to Milhouse. | June 10, 2020 at 5:56 pm

You can’t even get the “moral of the story” right can you.

It isn’t “Even liars tell the truth”. It’s “If people think you’re a liar even when you tell the truth they won’t believe you”.

      Can you get *anything* right?

Milhouse in reply to tphillip. | June 11, 2020 at 12:18 am

No, you idiot. That is not the moral. Think about it, if you’re even capable of such a thing. What happened in the end? Who suffered? The sheep owners ignored the shepherd because he was a known liar, and the wolf killed their sheep. The owners learned the price of their folly. But you apparently haven’t. You’re still stuck in their folly. What sheer utter stupidity.

Colonel Travis in reply to Milhouse. | June 10, 2020 at 7:46 pm

Truth-telling liars, ladies and gentlemen. Pay attention or else!
The lack of common sense here is stunning….

Milhouse in reply to Colonel Travis. | June 11, 2020 at 12:23 am

What is your problem? Are you really so stupid as to think that liars always lie?! Or so as not to see that this is the moral of the story? Fine, you be like the foolish sheep owners in the story, and ignore the shepherd’s warning just because it was wrong several times before. When all your sheep are dead, don’t blame anyone but yourself.

The Pennsylvania legislature has ended Governor Wolf’s COVID emergency after overriding the Governor’s veto.

…it is because most of us have lost our trust in the information presented by epidemiological “experts.”

And hopefully it’s not just the epidemiological “experts” we’ve lost our trust in. ALL “experts” need to be viewed with a healthy of skepticism. Especially those whose trade relies upon predictive models.

Thomas Sowell’s book “Intellectuals and Society” does a great job of explaining why the experts should not be directly making public policy decisions for us. There are very real and very discrete limits to what these “experts” know (no matter how loudly the progs howl about “SCIENCE!”), and often they don’t even know what they don’t know (predictive models are notoriously susceptible to “black swans”). Their areas of expertise are very limited and focused, and in the real world data from many different domains needs to be synthesized in order to make rational policy decisions (ok yes, CO2 causes warming, but what are the economic trade-offs of potential courses of action?). And of course, the “experts” are people too, and they are subject to the same biases as the rest of us (social distancing is required if you’re conservative, but can be forgotten if you’re an Anarchist or Marxist rioter sez the healthcare “professionals”).

For a little perspective, I don’t personally know anybody who has had the virus. I only know people who know or heard of someone who had the virus.
.
Our company though, has an investor who lives in a house with his girlfriend. They maintain no social distancing within their home (Hello! Girlfriend, right).
.
She was called back to work with a national consulting firm but had to have a test first showing negative for the virus. Even though neither of them were showing any symptoms, her test came back positive.
.
She tested positive twice more before she finally got a negative result and could go back to work about a week later.
.
His tests came back negative and neither of them ever had any signs, nor did they make any attempt to isolate from each other at any point.
.
I think the WHO’s first report was correct and the people in the dark rooms got them forcing the reversal.

For a little perspective, I don’t personally know anybody who has had the virus. I only know people who know or heard of someone who had the virus.

Then you’re not in NYC. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t lost multiple friends and relatives to this horrible disease.

randian in reply to Milhouse. | June 10, 2020 at 7:55 pm

The situation in NYC shouldn’t drive policy elsewhere.

      And your point is?

New York is the anomaly, not the norm. The vast majority of the nation is not New York and has not been severely impacted by the virus.

I personally know two people who’ve gotten it…one died from it*, but the fact remains that outside of a few relatively small areas of concentration, the perspective provided by the OP holds true…most people are unaffected by the virus and the only impact to them has been the (in my opinion) overblown reaction to it.

*My wife’s uncle, who, incidentally, was the first documented COVID related death in our state. Personally devastating, but not reflective of the status of the entire state, country or world.

rscalzo in reply to Milhouse. | June 11, 2020 at 10:09 am

How many in nursing homes because tg he politicians are idiots? A large segment of already frail people who would be at risk from the flu.

Yesterday the news made a big deal over a 102 women dying from it?????

Nah, this hoax is over. Rioters cured the Chinese Communist coronavirus. We know this, because the Dhimmi-crat apparatchiks and their media prostitute-lackeys have given the green light for rioters, looters, race agitators and other miscreants to attack people, destroy buildings and businesses and turn cities into ash, all for a “good” cause.

Neo in reply to guyjones. | June 11, 2020 at 1:52 pm

It just seems that the CCP doesn’t want anybody to “have a nice day” as they go about poisoning the world.

This virus is too deeply embedded in the general population to be able to attempt to contain the virus with any form of isolation or lockdown.

There will be a second wave, most likely in the fall/winter. the only question is whether it will be mild or a nasty second wave.

continued attempts to isolate and contain the virus only delays the development of immunity in the general population which in turn increases the risk of a nasty second wave.

Better to develop immunity in the summer when the virus[es] tend to be weaker/ have lower viral loads

I had to visit a hospital a while back and one of the nurses told me straight out that she was living under the assumption she had gotten the virus already but had been asymptomatic.

practicalconservative | June 10, 2020 at 5:12 pm

Scientists have determined that the virus cannot be spread through anti-police protests.

Imagine a virus so intelligent that it runs and hides from looting and rioting mobs, only to wait for the moment it is safe to reappear and terrorize humanity.

JusticeDelivered in reply to CDR D. | June 10, 2020 at 6:11 pm

I heard that people who do not like police are far more likely to be infected. Maybe that explains high black infection and death rates? #BlueRevenge

Soon, blacks will be rioting over #BlueRevenge.

WHO is still vacillating on whether to stick to the Chinese government’s propaganda or to listen to other scientists. If they put out the propaganda like “the coronavirus is not spread by person-to-person contact,” they eventually have to backtrack when the lie becomes obvious.

She said models that attempt to estimate asymptomatic transmission vary greatly – some predict spread by people without symptoms may make up to 40% of transmissions.

More models. We should be well into the data regime, and data renders the models superfluous. Fewer guesses and more facts, please.

And believe nothing—nothing—from the WHO. Trust is something which must be earned, and competence must be demonstrated.

It isn’t just the lockdowns. It’s the damn “wear a mask everywhere” crap when it’s long been known that open public areas, inside or out, are the least likely places to get infected. It’s the idiots demanding I wear a mask even though they’re wearing a mask. If their mask won’t protect them from me (not that there’s anything to protect) why would my mask do it? It’s the restaurant dining room capacity limits (if you fear your fellow humans, get takeout rather than make everybody else suffer) which mean they’re still going bankrupt since most restaurants can’t survive at such low capacity.

My doctor is a dumb assed face panty wearing moron. Think he has lost any of my respect?

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Firewatch. | June 10, 2020 at 10:09 pm

Force him to wear some bikini underwear as a mask.

Cuz they’re the only ones that are really effective!

My assumption is the reversal was done to give ammunition to the US left, so they could complain about Trump’s rallies.

Well it looks like fauci is missing his face time on television.
However, if he is right we should find out soon as antifa idiots should start dropping dead real quick.

Every riot, every insane left wing destruction of cities, every police officer killed in the last 7 days, as well as the thousands of businesses destroyed since Floyd’s death, including Floyd’s death were caused by Fauci.
We have committed Faucicide. This malicious midget may have destroyed America.

Fauci gets his power by making these ridiculous statements. He said millions would die from the virus. The reality was, if the old and sick people were kept isolated and not put in with Covid positive people, the death rate would be a few thousand out of 340 million. Not country closing numbers. The democrats love the power and don’t want to let go. It’s time to open up totally and help out the small businesses crushed by this stupidity.

“In a period of four months, it has devastated the whole world,”

Devastated? Really? The whole world has been devastated?

Where I live the only problems have been from the reaction to the virus, not the virus itself, and it’s been far from devastating. Damaging to small businesses and their employees, certainly…

That’s the kind of ridiculous hyperbole that makes people start questioning everything that comes out of the so-called “experts”.

Don’t you know? The leftist establishment version of anything is settled science. Who are mere scientists, with mere facts, to challenge it?

“In a period of four months, it has devastated the whole world,” Fauci said

No, it did not. Governments did that, and they did it based upon Dr. Fauci’s advice. He found an arena of weak government, and exploited it to his own glory. Dr. Fauci may not have personally devastated the whole world, but he directed its execution.

Researcher makes a public statement.

WHO Director gets a call from Bill Gates.

WHO “clarifies” the previous statement, in fact reversing it to the benefit of Bill’s vaccine dreams.
