Only Bernie and Biden, No Tulsi, at Next Dem Debate Under DNC’s New Qualification Rules
DNC qualification rules don’t say “only Bernie and Biden,” but the threshold of delegates used eliminates Tulsi Gabbard and any other candidate other than Bernie and Biden.
After Super Tuesday, Tulsi Gabbard appeared to qualify for the next Democratic debate in Phoenix, Arizona. Unsurprisingly, the DNC changed the rules to keep her out of it. Now the event will feature only Sanders and Biden.
For all the Democrats’ talk about diversity, it has come down to two old white guys.

After months of crowded Democratic presidential debates featuring up to 12 people on stage at once, this month’s showdown in Phoenix will almost certainly include just two candidates: Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders.
In order to qualify for the March 15 debate on CNN and Univision, candidates need to have earned at least 20 percent of the pledged delegates awarded as of that date, the Democratic National Committee announced Friday.
That’s a mark that both Biden and Sanders easily clear, according to the latest delegate tally after Super Tuesday. As of Friday afternoon, Biden had earned 48 percent of delegates awarded thus far, while Sanders had 41 percent.
The question now is whether or not Bernie Sanders will bring the fight to Joe Biden. For his part, I think Biden will go after Sanders relentlessly. He now believes he has the entire Democrat establishment behind him, and he’s right. If Bernie really wants this, he’s got to show it by going after Biden.

The Biden-Sanders dilemma the Democratic Party now faces
Now, the race is down to Biden and Sanders, with the Democratic National Committee preparing to change its debate eligibility rules to keep Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, off the debate stage. Standing with two old white guys, she could maybe make an appealing contrast and represent a last stand for diversity – but not with the Democratic establishment that hates her firmly in control.
Biden and Sanders find themselves with real dilemmas, but the dilemmas are different for each candidate.
In Biden’s case, he is already looking ahead to the general election against President Trump. A major selling point in the flood of endorsements is the belief among establishment Democrats that Sanders is simply too far to the left. So, one challenge for Biden will be to communicate that he is more reasonable…
Meanwhile, Sanders has his own dilemma.
If he wants to become the Democratic nominee, he has to take Biden down. This means speeches, advertising, and debate performances that are harshly critical of Biden and expose his many weaknesses. Biden is potentially susceptible to attacks on his family making money overseas, or his past positions to a whole series of issues which now run afoul of left-wing canon.

Reality is setting in for the Democrats although it’s still limited.
They now realize that by trying to appear fair and evenhanded, they almost let Bernie take over and steer the ship straight towards the iceberg.
Now their only job is to finish off the the old geezer and Tulsi doesn’t have the vocal following to cause much of a problem.
Their problem will reestablish itself once Biden gets the crown and undergoes a little more scrutiny. They will realize he isn’t that much better of a candidate and they have run out of options.
Will Hillary or someone else then get the call from the bullpen?
The only scrutiny of Biden will come from the Republicans and bloggers. No matter how senile Biden acts or whatever gaffes he makes, the MSM will bury it.

If Biden or Bernie — whichever one is the eventual nominee — picks a woman as his running mate and then gets elected, that woman will probably become President before he finishes his first term.
So the Dems would get their “first woman President” without the bother of having to get her elected to the office. The old white man is just a reassuring figurehead to help ease us into the revolution.
Same goes, mutatis mutandis, for VP’s of any other stripe. Voters need to scrutinize the VP candidate carefully, including a close look at the organizations he or she represents and from which he or she is getting funded. Because that’s who we’ll really be electing if we vote for the figurehead at the head of the ticket.

Tulsi cannot be in that debate because anyone watching who hasn’t been paying close attention will be like, “Where did she come from and why haven’t I seen her before?” They can’t have that.

But getting and remembering are two very different things.

What the Central Committee wants, the Central Committee gets. Plus the Super Delegates outrank the regular delegates at the convention. The facade of the Democrat Party drips with irony. The mainstream of the Party may dislike Bernie but the veneer is coming unglued and the mainstream is just as “soviet” as Bernie if not more so. It is all a matter of “transparency”.

In a way, this is enormously beneficial to Tulsi. Think about it for a bit. She’s a young female minority Dem who is moderately popular. The Dems will be running an old geezer with health issues, so the VP pick had better not be an old geezer with health issues.
*IF* she got up on stage with the two geezers, it’s fairly certain that she would say things that would end any possibility of her being picked as VP. Even one good soundbite would get run over and over during the election.
So it may be premature, but I’m starting to think it will be Biden/Gabbard 2020, with a few select peeps from the DNC running over to her campaign to say “Shh!! Don’t criticize anybody for a month or two, and look surprised when the announcement is made.”
Gabbard will not be the VP nominee for either Biden or Sanders. She’s a little too willing to go off the reservation. Plus the Dems can correctly point to her < 1% showing in the votes so far and say that she just isn't that popular.

No, Tulsi's best bet is to figure out how to become senator or governor of Hawaii, and then figure out how to run for president in 2024 or 2028 with the benefit of that experience. After all, being the VP nominee on a losing ticket doesn't help anyone — ask Kaine, Ryan, etc.

In 2012, Romney just needed to attack Obama and he would still be president now. He was not willing to do what he needed to do. Trump did what he needed to do in order to fend of Clinton. Even with all her faults, there was not another person in America that could have beaten her.

Back then, Bernie wasn’t willing to do what he needed to do in order to beat the Hilldabeast. Let’s see if he’s ready this time around. Biden is an easy target. Bernie just has to pick up his weapon. The difference now? This is Bernie’s last chance. He has nothing to lose.
This year and in 2016, it is my belief the DEMS where “using” Bernie as a Piped Piper – thinking that after Bernie was/is shuttled out of the way, that his supporters would still vote for the DNC Erected One.

In this day and age, Tulsi could still participate in the debate by livestream commentary and rebuttal on her Youtube channel. In terms of mic time, she could answer every question and rebut every answer.
To the casual observer, the Democratic race for the party nomination seemed to get a “rewrite” the weekend before “Super Tuesday”.
It’s as if George Soros, Barack Obama or God read the entire field “the riot act” over the weekend, the Red Sea parted, and they all went to their new marks.
The Democrat Party is not a public entity.
It’s their party. They do as they see fit.
To have a voice, you must be a party member, not just a Democrat.
