IRS Agent Gets 8 Years in Prison After Conviction for Raping Drunk College Student at Gunpoint
“Today, the survivor in this case had the opportunity to see her attacker held accountable”
This story is every bit as insane as the headline suggests.
The Boston Herald reports:
IRS agent guilty of raping drunk college student at gunpoint gets 8 years
A Boston IRS agent convicted last month of sexually assaulting a drunk, handcuffed college student at gunpoint inside his government-owned car will spend the next seven to eight years in prison.
A Suffolk Superior Judge Mitchell Kaplan on Tuesday sentenced James Clarke — a 46-year-old investigator for the Internal Revenue Service — to seven to eight years in state prison to be followed by 10 years of probation.
“Today, the survivor in this case had the opportunity to see her attacker held accountable, handcuffed the way that he handcuffed her, and sent away to prison for his horrific actions,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins. “Sexual assault is about power and control. This defendant used every tool available to him — his position as the victim’s supervisor at the IRS, his status as a member of federal law enforcement, and the government-issued vehicle, firearm and handcuffs that he had at his disposal — to exert his power, will, and control over and rape this victim.”
In court on Tuesday, the victim delivered an impact statement ahead of Clarke’s sentencing, saying, “I’ll never truly know whether that gun he forced into my mouth was loaded but the thought that it might have been, the thought that at any moment had he accidentally hit the trigger while it was in my mouth, reminds me each day how thankful I am to be alive and to be here.”…
During the trial, Assistant District Attorney Ian Polumbaum proved Clarke invited the college student — an unpaid IRS intern — out for drinks on the night of July 26, 2017, then “insisted” he drive her to South Station to catch a train, according to Rollins’ office.
Once at the car, Clarke placed the victim in handcuffs, shoved his IRS-issued service weapon in her mouth and raped her — assaulting her again after driving her to South Station.

Hmmm… the victim must have been a Democrat. Had she been conservative they likely would have found he didn’t INTEND to rape her.
Wow, that’s not only incredible, but amazingly stupid on his part.
Sadly, it also demonstrates the power trip that some law enforcement really get into.
Oh, it was another IRS staffer. Good, because raping a mere taxpayer isn’t a crime.
Thanks for a good laugh this morning.
Were I the District Director, there would already be an investigation into that reprobates work to see just what else he has done to vulnerable tax payers.
I agree. The rapist agent probably didn’t squeeze others nearly hard enough.
Questions: Does he keep his federal pension? Does the time in state prison count towards his pension? When he is released, does he get his job back?
Accepting a ride to a train station should not have to be a life altering event.
No, no and no. Agree a ride to the station should never be a life altering event, but that wasn’t a question.
Only 8 years? Which likely means he will serve less.
What was described in this article should warrant life. Real life. Die in prison you maggot life.
There is no justice here.
the hillary clinton defense.
The legal system has lost its collective mind again. Rape is serious enough, but doesn’t a gun in the mouth mean a very serious threat of “I will KILL you if you do not comply”? The TWO of those are worth only 8 years?
When a government employee (intern or not) in involved? I’m surprised he didn’t walk.
