Why aren’t we running as hard on Dems support for Occupy as they are on Akin?

Why aren’t we running as hard on Dems support for Occupy as they are on Akin?

Why aren’t we running hard on the Democrats support for the Occupy movement?  At least as hard as they are running on Todd Akin?

One person is, Karen Harrington running against Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (via The Shark Tank):

Why, you ask?

Because the mob has yet to be satisifed with thrusting the spike into Akin’s head!

That’s why.

Kick butt ad, Karen. Now sir it over and over, especially in the towns where old people live.

I’m so proud that conservatives are hitting the Dems hard this time around. They deserve a taste of their own medicine.

In the past you had to buy expensive air time to get the message out and even then some media venues rejected ads they saw as “too controversial”. Since that is no longer the case we need to go all out this Fall. There certainly is an abundance of material out there. One reason for this is because while Republicans tend to clean house of their own idiots and reprobates the Democrats always seem to want to celebrate theirs.

It’s one of the main Alinsky Rules for Radicals

    Just an excerpt:

    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

    (emphasis in original link, above)

That, along with ridicule (Rule 5), plus good old demonization (Rule 13) are the left’s fundamental tools. Honorable mention goes to controlling the narrative, the dialog, the terms (Rule 10, in essence).

They know these in their sleep – it’s what community organizing and social justice are all about.

It’s too early. Yeah, these are fun… but nobody’s paying attention yet. Heck, even Akin might survive his awful interview if he shows well over the next few months, and he’ll certainly get the interviews now even if it’s just to try to get him to slip up.

Wait until October, and THEN let ’em rip. With the exposure of Obama, Biden, et al, these things really do write themselves, all they need is a meme to tie them together and some good timing. And it’s too early to release the meme… 😉

Oh, they will. Romney has the most professional media campaign team I’ve seen in years.
    Completely fearless. Unapologetic.
Didn’t like it when it was used against Gingrich, but I will love it when used against Obama.

The problem with Occupy is that they presume guilt, acted to dole out justice through extra-judicial means, while effectively indemnifying authoritarian interests of responsibility for their role in the crisis. It does not help to treat symptoms, real and perceived, while permitting causes to fester.

Oh, one more thing, The Tea Party was right. The nonsense would not have be possible without either authoritarian consent, inducement, or coercion. Unless we desire a revolution, it would be best to restore the rule of law and its equal application.

1. Those are good ads.

2. One concern is that the public may be inclined to shoot the messenger of bad news. Yes, the very Democrats who applaud OWS in those videos are capable, with the MSM’s full connivance, of turning around and castigating those ads for “incivility” and “divisiveness”.

3. A way to forestall that, and worthwhile on its own terms, is to tie the OWS support to economic policy: It’s bad enough that Democrat leaders make excuses for OWS violence. But what those rioters are doing to property is what those Democrats are doing to America’s economy.

4. I suspect that most of the voters who will decide the election have not been personally affected by the urbanized Occupiers. The GOP should be forceful but know where to stop. That they often underplay their hand does not mean they should overplay it.

NC Mountain Girl in reply to gs. | August 23, 2012 at 5:15 pm

OWS plays into a story that is on many people’s minds but getting very little media play- growing urban violence. Because much of this crime is black on black or black on white it is under reported. Not only are their more direct victims to this crime but there are an astounding number of indirect victims in terms of people who now feel constrained from going into areas they used to visit or going out of their homes after dark. I lived in the shadow of Chicago’s John Hancock for 20 years and never felt afraid to walk alone in that neighborhood at any hour. Recently there have been reports of gangs of youth mugging people in the area, including one incident outside the very building I used to live in.

Yes, the Left is eager to deploy the force of government everywhere except where it is needed.

Even during my casual Web surfing in semi-rural MA, I’ve noticed more “isolated incidents” of urban violence than I recall seeing in the past.

Nevertheless, I wonder if the problem has reached critical mass politically. (For example, I don’t yet see major law-and-order mayoral candidates like Giuliani.) By critical mass, I mean I’m not sure the problem is big enough to be a standalone issue. I’m not sure the issue is big enough to offset counterplay via the race card.

People aren’t waiting for the lagging indicator of ambitious politicians needing a career boost. Gun ownership has gone mainsteam ever since Katrina because fewer people trust the government’s ability to keep order. Indeed, one of the few growth sectors in the domestic economy has been the booming sales of guns and ammunition. The conjunction of new lines of small, lightweight handguns in response to concealed carry laws interplays nicely with a growing interest of women in gun ownership.

Worth knowing, thanks. The question remains of how to turn this to advantage in November.

Ah: you’re implying that there might be fertile ground for an overt campaign against OWS and its enablers; that what Instapundit calls a preference cascade could be ripe to begin; and that the reward/risk ratio is more favorable than one infers from the MSM.

Sounds reasonable. At minimum it warrants checking out with focus groups and the like.

I have been calling the OWS a terrorist organization funded by the unions and the Democrat party. Therefore the Democrat party is a terrorist organization themselves. They used threats and intimidation in Wisconsin. I am glad someone else has started to show this as well.

Because it’s what the Republican party has always done. The let the democrats and liberal media control the narrative and they pile on. For instance, while this non-story was breaking, a democrat was charged with a sexual offense involving a 17 year old boy. Where’s the media on that? Where’s the GOP on that? That’s a much bigger story. What’s more insane is some conservative blogs (not this one) are still running multiple stories on Aking, ensuring it stays on the news cycle. Let it go. People being as they are, there’s a lot of time between now and November and memories are very short-lived these days. We have an economy in the ditch, an socialist president willing to do anything to win and we’re obsessing over what the guy clumsily said. Please. Let.it.go.

I don’t know how the Occupiers were acting in Massachusetts, but if it was anything like here in California, the only ads Scott Brown would need would be photo montages with Warren proclaiming herself the “intellectual foundation” of OWS.

[…] William Jacobson knows what I’m talking about. […]

The reason we’re not hitting them as hard as they are hitting us is because it’s what we DO.

Our leadership sux. Remember McCain in ’08? Total pollyanna wimp – embarrassing, mamby pamby wussie wimp. Some things never change. The GOP leadership are a bunch of candyasses afraid of the media and afraid of being targeted and alinskied.

They sicken me.

Henry Hawkins | August 23, 2012 at 8:38 pm

With the rather milquetoast GOP leadership of Boehner, McConnell, etc., the gentlemanly approach is understood, but ineffectual. I think/hope the rise of people like Reince Priebus is a sign of a more pugnacious, in-yer-face GOP for the near future. Paul Ryan’s secret is being pugnacious with facts while gentlemanly with presentation, a natural gift he shares with, among others… Ronald Reagan.

Meanwhile, CNN says that the GOP is ‘rallying’ around Akin because 2 obscure evangelists support him, and despite the fact that the party leaders are calling for him to drop out of the race.

Prof Jacobson,

On Abortion, Democrats are running on their identity issues and not their interests.

Their interest is to _not activate_ Pro-life as an election year identity issue for otherwise Democratic voters…especially those in the mid-West & North East.

Yet they are going there.

Going there after they went after the vital interests of the Catholic Church on religious expression of believers in terms of government mandated, upon threat of fine feloney conviction, contraception services.

And threatening the funding of Catholic social services across the board via Obamacare…thus motivating the Catholic bishops to enter the political fray this election cycle as a matter of survival.

Giving those Bishops the Abortion as an identity issue to motivate their otherwise Democratic voting faithful against Obama & Democrats in general is just plain stupid.

But expressing identity is more important to Democrats this election cycle than winning.

This is what happens when paradigms shift. Elites and their supporters that hold the old paradigms hold them until they die, and the new paradigm emerges with new elites and their supporters to displace them.

Current Republican elites don’t want to risk screwing that up, going after the Occupy Movement, because you never interupt your opponent when he is committing suicide.

No ads that the Republicans could conjure up would be as effective as showing a screeching Debbie or a wide eyed, insane looking Nancy.
Of course, the dems would claim that this is part and parcel of the Republican “war on women”.

Henry Hawkins | August 24, 2012 at 10:40 am

American women know how ridiculous it is that a political party would ‘wage war’ on 50% of the voting public.

I too am wondering, and frustrated, that we are not asking if the left considers Occupy rape as legitimate?

But I also wonder if the timing might be better after we see what the democrat Brownshirts try to do this week in Tampa. Occupy/Annonymous/Anarchists’ behavior this week might be the nail in the progressive coffin. I believe America wants stability instead of uncertainty more than anything else and I don’t think they are interested in violent revolutionary displays by the left.
