McCaskill up 10 pts in non-troll poll

McCaskill up 10 pts in non-troll poll

PPP’s flash poll the night before Todd Akin’s initial deadline to withdraw showed Akin still ahead by a point.  I called it a troll poll which would encourage Akin not to withdraw.

And so it did, Akin cited the poll in interviews justifying his decision not to withdraw, even as others pointed out an absurd over sampling of Republicans in the poll.

Via Ace, Rasmussen is about to release a poll showing Akin down by 10 points.

More details to follow.

Update:  The headline is up at Rasmussen

What a difference one TV interview can make. Embattled Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill has now jumped to a 10-point lead over her Republican challenger, Congressman Todd Akin, in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race. Most Missouri Republicans want Akin to quit the race while most Missouri Democrats want him to stay.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Show Me State finds McCaskill earning 48% support to Akin’s 38%. Nine percent (9%) like some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

The questions and break down are here, and show that McCaskill remains unpopular and that people paid very close attention to Akin’s comments.

High on the list of jerks who unilaterally put our country at risk: Akin, Obama, John Roberts.

Time to find a write-in candidate.

A write in candidate gives the election to McCaskill.

    It is what it is.

The falling over one another by the GOP with public shunning and denunciations was pathetic (the Democrats did not do that with Weiner). If privately things were said to Akin like: “Hey, this is bigger than you, tough break, but you have to take one for the team…” it would have been better.

I still think Akin should have walked away for the good of the country and for the good of pro life positions–but now it’s: Lose to McCaskillk, try to walk away after the dead line, or try to win. The latter strategy will be tough given the circumstances. What is heartening is the other GOP candidates still win against McCaskill. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_senate_elections/missouri/election_2012_missouri_senate So the damage to Republicans must be less than damage just to Akin.

But wailing about it will not work. It is really up to Akin now.

Time for Akin to have a come to Jesus moment. Some things are more important than personal ambition – whether he legitimately feels a calling or not, he is now a flawed messenger for the party and the cause.

Forget coming to Jesus. He’s either being paid or bribed by Democrats to stay in the race… or he thinks he’s a modern-day John Brown.

The MO GOP must take him to curt if he doesn’t want to hear reason. He has damaged things irreparably, but he doesn’t want to hear any reason. He’s still incommunicado and – get this! – his family runs the campaign. It’s as if we were actually dealing with, of all people, the “Reverend” Phelps and Westboro “Baptist” Church.

Already HillBuzz is asking for people to invade his Facebook page.

1. Yessir, Akin is the only righteous man in this sinful land. Ask him; he’ll tell you.

2. When does his status change from “stupid” to “traitor” (to conservatism and his supposed party)?

3. Even if he withdraws and even if Democrats don’t undercut the withdrawal via the courts, it’s not obvious to me from afar that MO swing voters would switch back from McCaskill.

4. As our host has pointed out, this is one of many races. While it may not necessarily be as pivotal as feared, efforts to secure Akin’s withdrawal (or a plausible write-in candidate) should continue.

And it ain’t like they lack a deep bench in Missouri, any of whom could pull this thing out.

Speaking of shiny objects for distractions:

ARE THE DEMOCRATS DELUSIONAL ON ABORTION?

…Just as the Akin crisis was reaching a crescendo, the Democrats on Wednesday announced that three starlets of the pro-choice movement will be featured at the convention, an event that will now drive the liberal charge that the Republicans are anti-women.

Democrats said that they will feature Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parent Action Fund, Nancy Keenan, president of the NARAL Pro-Choice America and Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University student whose plea for federal birth control funding drew the ire–and a subsequent apology–from Rush Limbaugh.

We can only pray that this report is true, and that the Democrats devote all three days in Charlotte to discussions of abortion rights, rape and contraception. If there is one thing we can say with certainty this year, it is that the overwhelming majority of voters don’t want to hear about the social issues. They want to know how we are going to climb out of the four-year economic funk that has been the Obama administration. If undecided viewers tune into the Democratic convention and hear all about abortion, and tune into the Republican convention and hear all about the economy, Romney will win in a landslide.

And, by the way, Republicans should help drive this contrast by saying nothing–and I mean, absolutely nothing–about any social issue. They should talk the economy non-stop, with occasional digressions into foreign policy. If they are asked about abortion, they should chide the reporter for asking about a topic that is of little interest to voters and that, by the way, the president, vice president, senators and congressmen have no ability to do anything about, and give an answer about the economy. If the Democrats want to define themselves to voters as the party of abortion and gay marriage, please, God, let them do so!

http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/08/are-the-democrats-delusional-on-abortion.php As always, read the rest of the article, you just might learn something!

God bless their little hearts. And that also goes for the rubes bashing Akin who are not astute enough to recognize the gift that will keep on giving… Muhuhaha

The best thing LI and the rest of the blogs can do at this point is drop the Akin references and focus on the issue…ITS THE ECONOMY STUPID!

You mean everyone in Missouri isn’t eager to vote for someone who would spend the next two months engaged in a discussion of just how much force must be used during a non-consensual sexual encounter before it triggers some mythical ‘natural anti-conception-via-rape mechanism?’ I’m shocked.

Maybe this will be a wake up call not just for Akin but for the fools deluding themselves into thinking that this was no big deal.

First off if you read the poll correctly McCaskill has hardly gained any support from the statements, Akin has simply softened. Thus there is certainly room for her to fall back again and him to rise. Obama’s Policies are simply too unpopular for her advance any further. She will need a sizable win to walk away the winner, making an Akin win more likely.

on a much more upbeat note, the democrats have decided in perhaps the greatest act of stupidity I have seen in recent years, turn their Convention into a Abortion on demand fest. Nothing will drive the Economically liberal / Social conservative voters away from the Dems than that. Its a direct play at their base, when the the thing they need the most is to pull away from the base to appeal to more groups.

If the Dems wanted to solidify their gains on this and extend their lead, they needed to keep mum on this, and pull something from Bill Clinton’s playbook and say “Abortion should be Safe, Legal and Rare”. This perhaps the best news to se the Dems take a fumble, forget which direction they are running and run the ball to THEIR OWN ENDZONE! Wow.

I think Akin is going to win this race if he stays in given how dumb and unpopular the Dems are this cycle. If this happens, I think the Dems will call the whole state of Missouri as racsit, anti-women, homophobes. I know there is no gay person up for election, but because they were rejected, they will throw it in for good measure, just like the way they treated NC for voting against Gay Marriage. Instead of retreating and retrenching they they insulted the whole the state pushing it more republican. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Oh well, the Dems of today are brainwashed idiots.

Rape is not about “stress”, you dummy!

Rape is MAJOR LEAGUE TRAUMA. And you know which one is worse than rape? Incest.

Stress due to nerves of not being able to conceive? Understandable? Stress due to bereavement or other factors? It happens.

But rape is total INVASION: unasked, un-consensual, body invasion. Whether it is with a gun pointed to the victim’s head, after adding a “jimmy” in the victim’s drink and making her/him unconscious, or even as part of domestic violence.

Rape is Major League Trauma. Ask Tina Turner. And Lorena Bobbit.

And why not ask that poor victim of incest due to that monster of a father in Austria? Well, I guess that “defense” against rape didn’t help her – or did it? She had six kids because of that monster.

I think the issue people have with calling wrong but consensual sex rape, is that people view rape as an act of violence. Incest does not need to be called rape to make it seem horrible, it only dilutes the idea of rape being forced and violent. Same with child molestation, calling that rape regardless of whether it was consensual or not takes away and confuses the unique meaning of rape as a conveyer of violence. If you don’t feel incest or child molestation is adequately descriptive of how horrible those acts are (????) it also takes away the ability to combine child molestation with rape to multiply the wrongness of say “forced child molestation”, or “child rape”.

I think these kinds of desires to control emotion by diluting meaning is self defeating and counter productive.

        n.n in reply to imfine. | August 23, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Exactly. Rape is a form of involuntary exploitation. While incest may be rape, it is more likely to be a form of superior exploitation. It it is in the same class of exploitation as a boss using his position to force a relationship with an employee, or an older man exploiting his knowledge of the world to have a relationship with an immature girl. Sometimes, consent cannot be reasonably given, but the outcome is not rape, it is a lesser form of exploitation. This is, presumably, from where our laws governing consent and harassment are derived.

Splitting hairs much? I am dumbfounded at some of the contortions in “logic” (I’m being generous) I have read in past days! RAPE IS RAPE IS RAPE IS A CRIME IS A VIOLATION OF THE WORST SORT!!! It is not about stress it is about VIOLATION of a person!!!

          theduchessofkitty in reply to n.n. | August 23, 2012 at 3:03 pm

Did you learn that from the William Jefferson Clinton School of Hairsplitting Language Arts?

Now I wonder how you define the word “is”…

theduchessofkitty in reply to imfine. | August 23, 2012 at 1:27 pm

        What planet are you from?

It IS an act of violence. From the DOJ:

Rape – Forced sexual intercourse including both psychological coercion as well as physical force. Forced sexual intercourse means penetration by the offender(s). Includes attempted rapes, male as well as female victims, and both heterosexual and homosexual rape. Attempted rape includes verbal threats of rape.”

Who are the victims of rape?

        – 1 in 6 American women, 1 in 33 American men
        – 22% were under the age of twelve
        – 54% were under the age of eighteen
        – 83% were under the age of twenty-five
        – 80% of girls and women rape victims were assaulted by someone they know

        Effects:

        – 3 times more likely to suffer from depression.
        – 6 times more likely to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
        – 13 times more likely to abuse alcohol.
        – 26 times more likely to abuse drugs.
        – 4 times more likely to contemplate suicide.

And the “crowning achievement” of this list:

        – a few pregnancies as a result of rape.

There. You’ve been Akin-ized. You have ZERO credibility.

theduchessofkitty in reply to imfine. | August 23, 2012 at 1:39 pm

        Don’t believe the DOJ? Here’s Merriam-Webster’s:

rape: “unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent — compare sexual assault, statutory rape”

These three things ascertain a rape:

        1. it’s unlawful and carried out forcibly (by force) or under threat of injury.
        2. it’s carried against the will of the victim
        3. the victim is any person unwilling or incapable of giving valid consent to the act (that includes female or male, underage, old age, and even people with physical/mental/emotional handicaps.)

I’m not an attorney, and I can’t believe I have to define a word to someone who should know better!

theduchessofkitty in reply to imfine. | August 24, 2012 at 1:43 am

And here’s another one, from the Book of Deuteronomy, dealing with a man’s treatment of a female captive during war.

The Torah gives a commandment here against raping a war captive. In the “heat of the moment”, a man can commit an atrocity. But give it a month to “cool off” the sexual drive and look at the captive as an human being who didn’t want to be in that situation in the first place. But during that entire month, don’t touch her. If there’s no “connection” between the two, let her go, and don’t even think of selling her as a slave. The humiliation of being a war captive was
        enough.

In other words, the Bible specifically says that forced sexual intercourse is rape. If you claim to believe the Bible, you’d better believe this!

Today’s Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) still follow that commandment to a T, even after 3,500 years, and not just because the platoon commanders tell them to. Some “human rights” group of some sort accused these soldiers of “racism” a while ago, not because they were rounding up Palestinians or terrorists, but because they would not even touch the women who were captured. In other words, the women were never raped by IDF soldiers. And that “human rights” group thought it was “offensive” and “racist” (“Hey, are our women that ugly?”) that they would not do that. Go figure.

Henry Hawkins in reply to dmacleo. | August 23, 2012 at 1:02 pm

MaggotAtBroadAndWall | August 23, 2012 at 12:21 pm

My theory, and it’s pure speculation, is that Karl Rove and John Cornyn committed professional malpractice as this whole thing started breaking on Sunday.

They did not want Akin to be the candidate. Ben Smith at Buzzfeed detailed Monday how little support Akin has ever had with Republican insiders. They hate him in part because he consistently votes against Big Government Republican schemes like TARP and Medicare Part D.

Back to my conspiracy theory. When Think Progress and TPM blew the dog whistle on Sunday about Akin’s “dumb” remark, I think Rove and Cornyn saw the outrage building on the Left and thought they could leverage it to muscle Akin out by announcing early Monday their intention to withhold financial support for his candidacy. They wanted to override the will of Republican primary voters and place someone on the ballot who they believed not only stood a better chance of beating McCaskill but who would be less of a thorn in the side for the Big Government establishment agenda. To add even more pressure on Akin, I think they brought Scott Brown into the conspiracy and urged him to be the first sitting senator to denounce Akin. From the perspective of Rove and Cornyn, if the plan came together it was a win-win. Brown would look like a thought leader and strengthen his position in Massachusetts, the “weak” candidate Akin that Republican insiders don’t like would be removed and literally replaced by the choice of the establishment who make up the committee. As long as Akin complied with their coercion and stepped down, the strategists would have engineered a situation that they believed would have improved Republican chances of winning both Missouri and Massachusetts. Talk about turning a negative into a positive.

So first thing Monday morning you’ve got Rove and Cornyn denounce Akin and announcing they were pulling financial support for his candidacy and you’ve got Scott Brown who is in a very tight toss up race in a very liberal state conveniently be the first senator to throw Akin under the bus, which conveniently coincided with the presidential nominee, Romney, also denounce Akin. That gave the green light to every other Republican to do the same. Which they dutifully did. As Akin remained defiant and the plan looked to be unraveling, they got every living former Republican Missouri senator and governor to denounce Akin.

Not because Akin did anything illegal, immoral, unethical or breech the public trust in any way. He uttered one “stupid” sentence in an interview. One sentence is enough to get the presumptive Republican presidential candidate, the vice presidential candidate, several sitting senators, every former Republican senator and governor, and the entire rightsphere to coerce the man duly elected by primary voters to step down? Really? Show me where it’s ever happened before that the leadership of the party wants to overrule the will of the people and replace a candidate that has engaged in no wrong doing of any kind, whether legal, moral or ethical. I can’t decide if its outright tyranny or the electoral equivalent of prosecuting someone for a thought crime. I wonder what Nat Hentoff thinks?

Do a thought experiment. What if when Rove and Corynyn when they were plotting their strategy decided to stay silent about the “outrage” created by Think Progress, TPM, and the other lefty blogs and urged Scott Brown to say something boilerplate like, “I represent the people of Massachusetts. I do not agree with Akin’s comments and neither do most of the people of Massachusetts. This comment requires Akin to clarify it further so the people of Missouri can better understand his position.” I doubt it would have satisfied the press, but if everybody would have given a similarly pat answer, Akin’s viability may not have been nearly as compromised as it now appears to be.

I understand how a stupid sentence dropped in an interview in eastern Missouri could cause the Left generate a passionate response. That’s what Soros pays the stooges at Think Progress and Media Matters to do. I do not understand the unreal, hysterical response from Republicans for a stupid statement by an obscure Congressman who has no ethical, moral, legal lapses. I have been furious and disgusted by this mob-like Republican over-reaction.

I believe Rove and Cornyn were too clever by half and now it looks like we’re stuck with a mortally wounded candidate who is unlikely to win what was otherwise a very winnable seat.

BTW, I do not believe aliens landed in Roswell or that 9/11 was an inside job. I do believe Oswald acted alone and the Apollo astronauts walked on the moon.

Carl Rove does not have some mysterious mind control ray that makes everybody but you obey his every whim. Really.

      retire05 in reply to Pasturized. | August 23, 2012 at 1:35 pm

Karl Rove (learn to spell his name right) DOES have the ear of every establishment RINO in D.C.

      And that’s a fact.

      hrh40 in reply to Pasturized. | August 23, 2012 at 2:58 pm

Karl Rove is The Demolition Man, responsible for the squeaker elections of 2000 and 2004 and the shellackings of 2006 and 2008.

Rove is a Big Government operative of the Bush Familia operation and is absolutely a nefarious influence on the Republican party.

If Rove continues to have power in this party, it will go the way of the Whigs.

Rove is a cancer to the Republican party eating away every last vestige of constitutional conservatism that the party still tenuously clings to.

And he does it at the behest of the Bush Familia. Here’s some food for thought:

Are you aware that Prescott Bush, H.W.’s daddy, helped fund the Nazi Party all the way until 1942?

“I have been furious and disgusted by this mob-like Republican over-reaction.”

I totally agree with your all of your comments.

I believe a good man was seriously wounded by the political ruling class.

    MaggotatBroadAndWall,

I think you have just hit it on the head. What is Cornyn doing injecting himself in what is otherwise a simple state race? Doesn’t Cornyn, my Senator, have bigger fish to fry? Maybe he could take on all the times Eric Holder’s Department of Injustice has sued his state?

Larry Elder has a great article out on how, although Akin’s statement was stupid, the Democrats are going to have a man accused of rape as a key note speaker at their convention. How many times was Clinton accused? Ummmmm, let me see: THREE and he paid one woman a out of court settlement of $850K to shut up and go away.

Why are Ashcroft and Bond getting into the fray? Are they waiting in the wings to dump Akin and put themselves on the ballot? And why are bloggers going along with the lamestream media on this story? Nothing like pouring gas on a Democrat fire.

The whole thing makes me disgusted with the GOP, disgusted with bloggers who claim to be conservatives (since they never mention Akin’s voting record in all their vitriol) and disgusted with Republicans who dance to the Dem led media drummer.

      MaggotAtBroadAndWall in reply to retire05. | August 23, 2012 at 2:18 pm

Thanks, retire05. Since Cornyn is your senator, I’m sure you know Cornyn heads the NRSC and decides how the money is doled out to senate races. Tt was reported early Monday morning that he advised Akin the NRSC was withholding financial support for Akin’s winnable race. That’s why I singled Cornyn out.

Akin chose his words poorly. I’ve never tried to defend his statement, although late last night I provided a link in the Tip Line to a long, coherent, very reasonable and rational article defending Akin’s sentence. It deconstructs the notorious sentence and cites scientific studies to explain why the sentence is not nearly as stupid as currently assumed.

But that’s really a sideshow to me. There were lots of ways the Republicans could have responded to this controvery. They chose to attempt to use coercion to overturn the outcome of a primary election. That was a radical and irresponsile response and I am simply stunned that almost every Republican is on board with the strategy.

And Todd Akin is being featured on what blogs? Oh, that’s right; conservative blogs.

If conservative talking heads would STHU about Akin, the story would die.

Tell me professor, does it not bother you that the Democrats are having Jumah Day at their convention? Does it not bother you that the Democrats are giving a speaker’s platform to at least two radical, Israel-hating Islamists? Or do you think Todd Akin is still more important than the Democrats climbing into bed with those that want to destroy Israel and kill Americans?

Midwest Rhino in reply to retire05. | August 23, 2012 at 1:21 pm

Democrats want the issue to die, and for Akin to stay in and lose by 15 points. Republicans want him to see the light, withdraw, (and endorse Steelman).

Before the issue dies, Republicans want to be sure they have clarified their disdain for Akin. This can play to Romney’s advantage, since he establishes his position as much more moderate. When Democrats try to use Akin, the casual viewer should say “yeah, that’s the guy Republicans roundly rejected”.

retire05 in reply to Midwest Rhino. | August 23, 2012 at 1:31 pm

Are you serious? You think the Dems want this to die? Well, let’s look at that premise, shall we?

McCaskill was losing badly to all the GOP primary candidates. ALL OF THEM, including Akin. Akin took the primary, so what better to kick McCaskill’s poll numbers back up where they should be for re-election? Why a good old fashion scandal, of course.

Once the scandal breaks, force the Republicans to take a stand. Make them opinine on that scandal. Make them cower in the corner for fear the media, and Democrats, will go after them.

Now you have all the independents in Missouri, who helped elect McCaskill in the first place don’t forget, all saying “Ummmm, even his own party doesn’t want him. I guess I’ll vote for Criminal Claire again.”

If Akin stays, and he loses, he can thank bloggers and conservative talking heads who don’t have the cajones to stand up to either the Democrats, or the press.

The only person who bears any blame here is Todd Akin. He said something that ruined his political career, damaged the pro-life cause and played into the media stereotype of Republicans as scientific illiterates. There does seem to be a silver lining here in that Democrats are being dumb enough they are going to make their convention into an abortion fest but that doesn’t mean it will help Akin.

I’m appalled at the cravenness that I am seeing here.

His career is being ruined over a poor choice of words by rabidly dishonest and hypocritical left wing partisans; a craven spineless GOP ruling class hack and people like many at this site who appear not to have the courage of their convictions or perhaps any convictions at all. Everyday I see people complaining about the unfairness and bias of the media and instead of taking up the fight you all want to concede and buy into the media sniping another conservative. Like someone said earlier he wasn’t the establishment’s boy that’s why they pulled the plug so quick just like they did in 2010 on some other candidates the establishment didn’t like. They were just looking for the first excuse. I wish the divine Miss Sarah hadn’t jumped in because bless her heart it makes her look like a sour grapes hack(her candidate finished third)

He made a remark of dubious validity that has been amplified out of all proportion and made to be greater than the verifiable and objective damage Clare McCaskill and her boss Barack Obama have inflicted and plan to inflict on this country. This in addition to the Abortion Advocate in Chiefs support for late term partial birth abortion and his promoting that survivors of botched abortions be left to die, but Akin was the extremist. Instead of surrender they might have tried attack and highlight these lowlifes but know that would have been too much like work for these slovenly cowards. Obama makes much bigger mistakes that hurt multitudes and McCaskill approves of these debacles but Todd Akin makes a mistake on an unrelated biology question and is branded an irredeemable moron. Hope you all can live up to that standard. Try putting the focus where it belongs- On the purposeful destruction of this by Obama, McCaskill et. al. Anytime this is brought up in the future the person bringing it up needs to mocked as an unserious imbecile that they obviously are.

Quite frankly if he loses this race over this crap it will be because we still are not serious about the challenges facing this country is faced with and the fact that too many are still not wise to the fact of the hateful and totalitarian nature of the NDSWP. That is if the people of Missouri reelect McCaskill based on this they are just too stupid to wear clothes.

Believe me kids your hypocrisy is showing big time on this.

NC Mountain Girl | August 23, 2012 at 12:54 pm

The far simpler explanation is that the so called establishment didn’t want Akin because he says dumb things. That also has the beauty of explaining exactly why McKaskill & Co. wanted Akin.

Ockham lives – in the NC mountains.

Yes. Why would anyone want an ignorant man, with atrocious judgement, who is, by the way, arrogant beyond belief? If he somehow manages to stay, and somehow manages to win (both doubtful), what type of representation will the people of Missouri have? He has antagonized everyone in the Republican leadership. Who will work with him? He disgusts me. He is putting his own ambition over what is good for the country.

Oh, I don’t know; perhaps compare Akin’s voting record to McCaskill’s? Or is that too simplistic for all the guppies?

Henry Hawkins in reply to retire05. | August 23, 2012 at 3:20 pm

By that formula one could argue it better to vote for Hitler than Stalin. It’s a false dichotomy. “Neither” is also a choice.

MaggotAtBroadAndWall in reply to terimwal. | August 23, 2012 at 2:26 pm

The kind of “representation” that has allowed him to have a lifetime ACU voting record of 97.5 over 6 consecutive terms, making him one of the most conservative members of the entire legislature.

Oh yeah, he was re-elected with almost 65% of the vote in 2010, so the people he currently represents seem to be pretty pleased with him.

NC Mountain Girl in reply to MaggotAtBroadAndWall. | August 23, 2012 at 3:04 pm

And his 2010 winning percentage in a heavily gerrymandered district that wraps around most of St. Louis is relevant in a statewide race because……?

Henry Hawkins in reply to MaggotAtBroadAndWall. | August 23, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Yes, and Nixon beat Humphrey by over 100 electoral votes in 1968. However, later events would detract from Nixon’s political career.

Nobody gives a crap what Akin did prior to last Sunday, so monumentally stupid and career-killing was what he said.

Akin’s comments hurt other Republicans. He hurt other pro-life Republicans. He hurt the pro-life argument by making it sound like it is based on ignorance.

CalMark in reply to terimwal. | August 23, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Akin’s stupidity has enabled him to do something no Republican since Reagan has done effectively: united the entire party in a principled stand, from conservatives to RINOs.

OK, Akinoids. Feel free to use this as another rationalization why your kooky guy should stay in the race.

FX Phillips in reply to NC Mountain Girl. | August 23, 2012 at 5:32 pm

Or they didn’t support him because he opposed the establishment power sharing arrangement with the NDSWP hacks.
RINO’s don’t like conservatives unless they are good little lackeys and support the judgment of their betters.

Stop your bitching!

Remember when Mitts got the brass ring and we all bitched? Well we got what we got, lets use our votes to defeat McCaskill not Adkins!

What to blame someone, start with the open primaries The Establishment uses to get tjhier Boys on the ticket…ie dole & McRino. Or how about Hucklberry bucking the obvious Tea Party choice? Now Palin wants a third party!

10 points & 11 weeks to get your head out and get us a GOP senator who is better then Brown, Hatch & NcRino anyway

theduchessofkitty | August 23, 2012 at 2:46 pm

I posted this at the Tip Line.

This man Akin lives in a different planet than the rest of us.

Akin camp: Ask Claire McCaskill to drop out

Once again: either this man has been bought or bribed by Democrats, or he thinks he’s the modern-day version of abolitionist John Brown. This time, he’s taking a U.S. Senate candidacy hostage, instead of Harper’s Ferry.

At this point, I will not be surprised at all if the MO GOP decides to throw him into the depths of the Mississippi River with a boulder attached to his leg. And take the cannoli.

Considering the unapologetic damage she has done to the country dropping out is probably the most moral thing she could do.

Duchess, I’ve been thinking the same thing.

He’s either been bought off by the Dems, or he’s a mentally-ill religious fanatic. Or both.

And maybe his enabler, Past’r Huckabigot, has also been bought off. Maybe this is Huckabigot’s way to replay his undermining of Romney in 2008.

Weirdness incarnate: Akin is being egged on by the kind of anti-abortion zealots who give us pro-lifers a bad name. Mr. “Man of the People” Akin shut down his phones and no longer accepts emails at his website.

OTOH, this is a great opportunity to focus resources on other seats that we may be able to take back from the Dems – in CT and MD of all places!

In my home state of CT, Linda McMahon is up by 3 over Chris Murphy. Give her some love, if you can: http://www.lindaforsenate2012.com/

And Dan Bongino in MD, former Secret Service agent to the last three presidents, has a real chance. Do what you can: http://www.bongino.com/home.html

Oh goody, now that the Right has joined the Left in convicting the man for the hideous crime of Inappropriate Thought we can now say that America is united as one grotesque tyranny!

We have become our enemy of freedom.

huskers-for-palin | August 23, 2012 at 3:44 pm

Todd Akin is the first person in history to commit political seppuku with a spork.

Goodness, the anti-intellectual MOB won’t be satisfied until THAT man has head thrusted into a spike!

NC Mountain Girl in reply to syn. | August 23, 2012 at 4:59 pm

Silly me! Here I always thought it was a good thing to ruthlessly cull a political party of both idiots an reprobates. If that is being anti-intellectual than what ae we supposed to call the Democrats? After all, they regularly make a habit of protecting reprobates and promoting idiots into leadership positions.

      1. You’ve been leaving some great comments, Mountain Girl.

      2. I sense a narrative taking shape among Real Conservatives™:

      a. If Akin somehow wins, it’s because of God’s will. Give praise!
      b. If he loses, it’s because of betrayal by spineless Judas RINOs like…Limbaugh, Coulter, and Palin.

      3. I suggest a compromise: we all give credit to Akin for his tenacity; Akin drops out of the Senate race to focus on his Presidential aspirations for 2016.

(We don’t doubt, do we, that Akin thinks he should be President?)

Our clan of Akin supporters are writing screeds dozens, in some cases, HUNDREDS, of words long. These screeds are shrill, strident, and full of inflammatory language.

Some old pieces of wisdom, Akinoids:
1) Invective and insults mean you know you’re wrong, but can’t admit it. (Just like your hero!)
2) If you’ve got to work really, really hard to justify your position, you’re probably wrong.
By both measures, you’re DEFINITELY wrong.

P.S. I’m beginning to think most of the Akinites here are trolls.

Rasmussen is about to release a poll showing Akin down by 10 points.

McCaskill? No sweat standing alone, but yeppers, 5 straight days of getting slammed and slimed by your fellow Rs on a 24-7-365 basis DOES tend to take its toll. Live with it.
