CA Governor Gavin Newsom Signs Bill Requiring Abortion Pill Access on Public College Campuses
“Abortion is a protected right, and it is important that everyone — including college students — have access to that right, if they so choose.”
Imagine if public colleges in California took free speech rights on campus this seriously. Wouldn’t that be great?
ABC News reports:
California governor signs bill requiring medication abortion at public colleges
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill on Friday requiring that public universities provide medication abortion on campus.
“After three years of working to expand access to medication abortion at our public universities, I am thrilled that Governor Newsom rejected the misguided paths that other states have taken in limiting access to abortion care,” state Sen. Connie Leyva, who wrote the bill, said in a statement. “Abortion is a protected right, and it is important that everyone — including college students — have access to that right, if they so choose.”
The College Student Right to Access Act requires that public colleges in California — the University of California and California State University systems — that have student health centers on campus also make available medication abortion.
The bill says abortion services will be administered by trained medical professionals at the health centers.
Medication abortion involves taking two pills — mifepristone, which stops the production of progesterone, and misoprostol, which induces a miscarriage-like abortion — over a 48-hour period. It is approved for use by the FDA up to 10 weeks into a pregnancy.

Now, lets just imagine for a moment,
“Bearing arms is a protected right, and it is important that everyone — including college students — have access to that right, if they so choose.”
What about signing a bill requiring electric power? Or maybe it’s better to turn off the power to prevent forest fires?
They can’t even keep typhus infected rats out, or retain first world sanitation standards.
CA is another Socialist S… hole. The term is literal, or perhaps ironic because it is on the streets, not down the hole.
How they going to make those “chemical abortion” pills with no electrify?

Priorities!!!
Any new fur sales (ANY new fur activity of any sort) in Cal banned after 2023. No more lucky rabbit’s foot for you.
Yes…California is the bell-weather trendsetter for the country. The Road to … sorry, that’s right… there is only humanistic utopia and no bad (very unsafe) spaces to go to if terribly wrong.
This is truly Darwinian Socialism… getting into and out of this world in one piece is solely discretionary by the State.
Until “Furries” are added to LGBTQIA-F.
Don’t forget the Lions, Tigers, and Bears.
Oh yeah and Otters too…….
Totally unnecessary, of course. Lay colleges and many religious, have been dispensing ‘day after’ hormones and concoctions since the mid 1960’s thru the school clinics or dispensary. And every single college grad knows it.
The first choice: abstention. The second choice: prevention: The third choice: adoption: The fourth choice: compassion. Pro-Choice: the wicked solution, summary judgment, cruel and unusual punishment past one month. Newsom and other acolytes of the Chamber are playing with a double-edged scalpel.
Can the male students that don’t want to be daddies get the pill and put it into their pregnant girlfriends’s kambucha?
Would that the Gov’s mother had access to this.
Aren’t the DEMS all for “retro-active” abortions now?
Seems the Governor of Virginia said something about that.
Because women at college are dumber, poorer, and more helpless than women not at college.
Everything Newsom does should be considered ground prep for a future presidential run.
It’ll never happen as it’s much more complicated than simply passing a law stating that the abortion drug be available at each “student health center”. Mifepristone is under a FDA Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) program and not only does each facility have to complete an agreement and become certified to even receive shipments of mifepristone each prescriber has to complete their own agreement to be allowed to prescribe mifepristone. So even if the state of California wanted to they simply cannot just hand out mifepristone willy nilly to every pregnant student that wants it.

I suppose this move is for the college women who are too stupid and lazy to go to the nearby abortion supercenter. In 2012 the Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood masquerading as an “independent” research institute) reported that 43% of all abortions (again, the vast majority of these abortions were done by PP since it is by far the largest abortionist in the country) were performed on women 18-24 years old.
This is college age. Obviously not all women this age are college students; the vast majority are not. But marketing data for 2012 show that 79% of all college students (male or female) fell within this age range.
This report prompted pro-life groups such as Life Dynamics to ask the question; are abortionists targeting college/university students? They cross-checked zip codes for all Planned Parenthood-affiliated clinics and colleges across the country. At the time there were 780 such affiliates. 78.8% (615) were located within five miles or less from a college or university.
Fun fact: 83% of all Planned Parenthood-affiliates/independent abortionists were located in predominantly minority neighborhoods based upon zip code cross-checking. So they’re killing two birds with one stone. Literally.
