Northam Yearbook Photo Reportedly Leaked By Med School Classmate Disgusted by Abortion Comments
“The source of the tip appears to have been a medical school classmate or classmates of Northam who acted as a direct result of the abortion controversy”
Everyone wondered how the racist photos of current Virginia Governor Ralph Northam surfaced. We have now learned that a former med school classmate reportedly shared the information with a reporter after feeling repulsed by Northam’s recent pro-infanticide stance.
Update: Sources telling @Lvozzella and me that tip to @bigleaguepol about Northam’s yearbook photo came from medical-school classmate or classmates upset about governor’s abortion remarks earlier in the week. https://t.co/eHCsOSuvIE

The reporter who exposed Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s racist yearbook photo said a “concerned citizen” led him to the story that has prompted widespread outrage and calls for the Democrat’s resignation.
Patrick Howley, editor in chief of the website Big League Politics, first reported Friday the existence of a photo on Northam’s page of his medical school yearbook depicting a figure in blackface standing next to another person in a Ku Klux Klan hood.
“It’s very easy to explain,” Howley, 29, said in an interview Saturday. “A concerned citizen, not a political opponent, came to us and pointed this out. I was very offended [by the photo] because I don’t like racism.”
The tip came after Northam’s comments on Wednesday about late-term abortions, he said. Howley declined to give any further information about his source, citing a confidentiality agreement. But he said it took him just a few hours to confirm that the photo was authentic.
The source of the tip appears to have been a medical school classmate or classmates of Northam who acted as a direct result of the abortion controversy that erupted earlier in the week, according to two people at Big League Politics, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
In a prescient tweet, @DrewMcCoy predicted the source . . . and the reason for it coming to light:
Here's my theory on where the Northam hit came from…a med school classmate who was disgusted by his abortion statement.

Delightful, and it turns out, likely true.

First, do no harm.
Tell that to the Democrats
and the GOPe.
Wonder if he called his wife Friday and told her to bring the Lawn Jockey inside ?
Imagine if this were Brett Kavanaugh’s year book.
Who are the Dems appealing to with their pro-infanticide views? Only a tiny group of abortion radicals are for what the Dems are pushing.
They have seen that often times what appears to be extreme or radical becomes normalized within a decade. They are trying to influence the young and impressionable.
Look at what has happened in the sexual identity politics realm… what we laughed at less than decade ago (girls can be boys and boys can be girls, 72 genders, etc.) is now being mainstreamed in public (and many private) schools across the country. If they can get a couple of generations of girls/young women to take up militant pro abortion positions then infanticide will become mainstream as well. Get a few “normal” politicians espousing these views, use the schools and organizations like the Girl Scouts and before you know we have lost again.
VA LT. GOV. about to go down in infamny too?

Oops . . . the perfect set-up gone bad?
Maybe Mr. Fairfax doesn’t exactly walk on water, either. . .
Dems eliminate Northam and substitute Fairfax.
High-profile platform to launch the world’s Second Obama in 2020?
Cynicism or reality?
Amazon’s Washington Post caught in the Collusion?

“Collusion” or business-as-usual?
At this point its not even a question of whether Gillespie’s campaign was incompetent.
It’s a question of HOW INCOMPETENT they were.
Really? How on earth could they possibly have found out about an allegation that had not yet been made? Were they supposed to have a time machine?
Even the Northram thing, how should they have known there even was a year book, let alone how they would get a copy just on the off chance that there might be something usable there? It’s not usual for med students to publish year books is it?
The purge has begun. The past conduct of anyone over 40 will be held up to today’s exacting standards and found wanting.
I don’t believe it. Much too glib. “A guy I knew in med school just said something vile on TV, so I’ll wreck his career by publicizing something entirely irrelevant to the statement, a harmless old photo of him (maybe) in a stupid costume, then sit back and wait for Liberal hysteria to blow it out of proportion and hound the guy from office.”
Sorry, no, that has the footprints of a political animal all over it, not an ex-med school inmate. Real people simply don’t think in terms of manipulating the mania of crowds.
Your theory bears checking out. The old proverb about looking a gift horse in the mouth was essentially a direction to be careful about “gifts.”
I do notice who is using this “gift,” and it isn’t Republicans, who reserve their opprobrium for real offenses, like supporting infanticide as public policy. Somebody wants to talk about flimsy charges of racism in lieu of infanticide.
Right Valerie. Note who is using it – and it’s not the GOPe.
As the saying goes..FOLLOW THE MONEY.
(Planned Parenthood – and their backers?- have made Millions if not Billions selling dead baby body parts….. imo.)
Tom I agree with you.
That story of the Lie-Stream, Democrat MSM doesn’t hold water.
It is NOT Credible at all.
Good point. This KKK stuff was perfectly acceptable behavior for a democrat back then. When has infanticide ever been acceptable?
Northam is a liability to the left who always uses people while they are useful and then flushes them down the drain. There is a managed calculus here I think. With the left, watch the process not the substance. The Cultural Revolution was a process. Alinsky is all process. Watch where the left takes this “situation.”
When Margaret Sanger was pushing it at Klan rallies as a solution to “those populations we don’t want more of”. Democrats love killing their deplorable inferiors….
Looks as if the Governor won’t step down because he doesn’t want a Black man to take over as his replacement!
Could be.
But from what is coming about about the VA Lt. Gov.
he probably fully endorses Tran and PP.
Looks as though me might be a frequent customer of PP too?????
The important thing is that while they are screwing with themselves they aren’t screwing with us. I harken back to the end of the Clinton term when all of the pols were so involved in the impeachment that they actually let the country run itself for awhile, and it thrived. All meddling is bad, regardless of the source.
any of his political opponents go to med school at same time he was there?
I wouldn’t rule out a pro life dr disgusted by his statements doing this but…..it does have a (to me) political bend to it….
I grew up in the segregated south, Charleston, SC to be exact. By today’s standards, everyone who lived there was racist, me included. We were still fighting the Civil War every day with the charges being led by the politicians, all Democrats I should add. I’m ashamed of my attitude then but that was 50 years ago and I’m not the same person I was then. I’d hate to be judged on many things I did it my past. No one is pure enough to stand under this kind of microscope.

Yes, but 1984 was a good 20 to 25 years beyond that……
Looks like some pouncing was going on.
It’s entirely possible that one of his med school classmates (who else after all has a copy of that 35 year old med school yearbook?) didn’t care one way or another about Northam’s abortion comments. He or she simply thought Northam was a real jerkmeat in med school, and thought they now had a chance to put the scalpel in–so to speak.
Why not do it during the governor’s race then?
I also thought this statement diagnostic of the whole problem of leftist selective outrage—
I was very offended [by the photo] because I don’t like racism.
Distilled childishness. Speaking personally, I’m not offended by blackface photos . . . because I take racism seriously. Hiring quotas are racism; obsolescent minstrel-show costumes are not. Pretending that they are just trivializes a very real problem.
Why do Democrats have a KKK/Blackface problem? Even Elisabeth Warren collects blackface nic naks saw it in her beer commercial.
Something that’s available to anyone who looks for it isn’t leaked. It’s revealed and publicized. Every school has a library where school yearbooks can be accessed.
Question in this case- why wasn’t this revealed and publicized during the campaign? Apparently it WAS known to more than one Republican operative.
I would agree that the yearbook was known. I am just not sure I would agree that it was known by republicans. It reeks more of an inside (democrat) hit job to me. If this was released in a couple of weeks when the uproar over the abortion statements had started to subside I might agree but not the day after. Besides look at who is taking advantage of the yearbook, it sure isn’t the republicans.
And you know this how? How many grad schools even have such books? And those that do, why would the school library bother buying a copy, or even accepting one for free if the publishers offered it? More than that, why would anyone think to look for one in the first place?
I guess you don’t look at the spam E-Mail that you get or you don’t get the right spam.
There are websites that put yearbook pictures on line (not sure how they get around copyright laws).
So anyone could have stumble across (or find if really looking for) the alleged yearbook pictures. I say alleged yearbook, because I always thought medical students were too busy and sleep deprived to have time to put out a yearbook.
No, I don’t recall getting such spam, but I delete all obvious spam without reading it so who knows. But I assume such services, if genuine, collect high school yearbooks, with permission. As I understand it such books are official school publications, so the school would have a compilation copyright, and if the pictures were taken by students acting as agents of the school (i.e. work for hire) then it would probably have copyright on those too.
This book, though, was not a school publication, since grad schools don’t usually do such things. It was a private publication, the compilation copyright presumably belongs to the students who published it and the photos are copyright to whoever took them, and it would never have occurred to these services to even look for them.
A minor point. The yearbook wasn’t “leaked.” Its not classified or otherwise confidential. I believe it is in the public domain. I know its being picky, but I don’t think we should “normalize” real leaks like this.
It won’t be in the public domain until 70 years after all the publishers die.
What puzzles me is how this picture came to be included in Northam’s yearbook page. AIUI each student chose what would be shown on his page. Was Northam really so pleased with this picture that he wanted other people to see him this way?!?!
According to him, and I know of no reason to doubt him on this, the editors were not very careful in keeping track of whose photos were whose, and there were a lot of errors of this kind. This was not some professional production with a careful editorial process and layers upon layers of fact-checkers, like the New York Times 🙂
