Beto Backs Out of First Scheduled Debate With Ted Cruz
Meanwhile, O’Rourke will be headed back to California (again) to appear on Ellen’s talk show next week.
Rep. Beto O’Rourke backed out of the first scheduled debate with Senator Cruz.
Scheduled for Friday, August 31, the debate was to be the first of five (or six, O’Rourke wanted a final debate in his hometown, El Paso).
Last month, O’Rourke asked if the August 31 debate could be moved to October, closer to the election. O’Rourke claims the two campaigns are still in negotiations while Cruz’s campaign is acting like the date of the first debate was settled.

“There was no debate ever agreed to for Friday,” O’Rourke’s office told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “The two campaigns are in open discussions to plan mutually agreed upon debates.”
O’Rourke claimed Cruz’s terms were too rigid, but that the two would debate eventually.
From the Texas Tribune:
O’Rourke said Monday that Cruz’s campaign has “attempted to dictate” different aspects of the debate schedule, such as the time, the moderators and which subjects the candidates could speak about.
“We’re working through those differences, and we’re trying to introduce more of a collaborative style to the negotiations than he may be used to,” O’Rourke said during the forum. “And so we’re confident that out of that, we’re going to come to something good.”
Cruz’s team shot back Monday evening.
“[O’Rourke] begged for debates, but when Sen. Cruz invited him to five debates all across Texas, suddenly O’Rourke seemed to get scared,” spokesperson Emily Miller said, adding that “except for when he has to be in DC for his work in the Senate, Cruz is ready and excited to debate O’Rourke, including this Friday.”

The left is swooning over Beto so much that I saw one piece already “predicting” that Beto will be elected President in 2024. Of course he will.
Not a chance in Hell he will be anywhere near the Presidential Ballot in 2024. NONE.
In fact, I would suggest that the polls that show him even being competitive with Sen. Cruz are poorly designed, and under-representative at best.

Trump won – North Dakota, Florida, Arkansas, and Montana. Medical marijuana also won those States. The Republican establishment opposes Medical Marijuana.

This is monumentally flawed logic. You realize that not everyone has to vote for everything down the ballot, right?
I’m convinced that med pot is good for the economy, but anything that promotes the health of stupidity (that’s you, if you didn’t figure it out) makes me think twice.
I wouldn’t want to debate Cruz either…… especially if I was shaky in what I believed like Beto. Time to duck and weave, and avoid the Cruz body shots. Ellen is a big socialist softy with everyone’s money but her own.
So I guess he’s good at delivering prepared speeches before astroturfed audiences for a staged video, but not so much at engaging in intelligent debate when there’s someone around to challenge his philosophy and claims? Color me not surprised.
Yes. Apparently what he wants is “Town Hall” type “debates” where he can stack the audience with people who will disrupt the session. And, of course, he wants the “home court” advantage for the last event before the election. Oh, and he wanted two debates conducted solely en Español. Cruz does speak, but his is Cuban, not Tex-Mex or Mexican Español (and allegedly not appreciated by Mexicans).
No debates for elective office should be held in any language but English. A working knowledge of English is required for citizenship. Campaigning and debating in Spanish is playing to the illegals.
O’Rourke doesn’t have the brain-power to debate anything of substance with Cruz, or the ability to lie well enough to avoid looking like a cretin. There will be talk of debates, but no debates.

I’m a pretty confident public speaker and I’d be terrified of debating Ted Cruz, although I’d have trouble finding a point of contention with him. You can’t blame O’Rourke for wetting his pants at the thought of it.

Beta’s hoping the money of Californians can get him elected in Texas. Funny how the democrats always complain about corporate money, but not other forms of outside money affecting elections.
Being a temporary (25 years) resident of El Paso, I have strong opinions on the incompetence and idiocy of Beta mostly from up close and personal experiences…..
So, what I’ve been seeing the last few weeks….. lots of anti-Beta posts on “just regular Joe’s” Facebook pages…. people who don’t even post stuff about Trump or Obama. The “regular Joe’s” mostly see him as an Austin style punk teenager with a silver spoon up his (see legacyrepublican).
Also, Cruz launched his first “things more American than Beto O’Rourke” ads with a testimonial from a Vet. If he keeps those rolling, he’s got it in the bag. I’d kind of like to see one with a contrast of Kapernick and JJ Watts….
