Restaurant Owner That Booted Sarah Sanders Followed Her Family to Another Restaurant and Started a Protest

The story is worse than originally reported

Friday night, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and her family were asked to leave the Red Hen, a restaurant in Virginia, because she works for Trump. She wasn’t booted out by a low-level employee but by the restaurant owner.

Sanders handled the ordeal well, saying of the Red Hen owner, “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”

The ordeal sparked a national conversation. But there’s more to the story.

According to Mike Huckabee, Sanders’ father, after being kicked out, Sanders and her husband went home. The rest of her family went to the restaurant across the street.

The owner of the Red Hen followed Sanders’ family to the restaurant across the street. Outside of the restaurant, she started a protest.

Monday night, Paula Bolyard at PJ Media blogged:

Mike Huckabee told Laura Ingraham today that the story didn’t end there. “Once Sarah and her family left — and, of course, Sarah was asked to please vacate — Sarah and her husband just went home,” he said. “They had sort of had enough.”

But the rest of her family went across the street to another restaurant, he explained, and that’s when things got even more absurd.

“The owner of the Red Hen —because nobody’s told this — then followed them across the street, called people and organized a protest, yelling and screaming at them from outside the restaurant and creating this scene,” said Huckabee. One of Sanders’ in-laws, whom he described as “very liberal,” walked out and said, “Look, I don’t like Trump, I’m not a supporter, I’m a far — considered liberal — but you guys are embarrassing me and you’re not helping the cause.”

Nevertheless, the mob yelled and screamed even though Sanders was no longer there because, apparently, having even a tangential relationship to the Trump administration means you’re not fit to be out and about in polite society and you’re no longer to be afforded public accommodations.

“This is what the left has been reduced to,” Huckabee lamented. “It really is tragic, and it is dangerous.”

The inability and unwillingness to tolerate any variation in opinion or thought is completely out of hand. This is the product of unchecked emotional reactivity.

There is no reason to believe the provocation and harassment will subside before it escalates further.

Comments

There is no reasoning with a mob. It moves on its own bile, feeds on its own rage and in some circumstances will not stop until it is stopped. Hard.

The other businesses in Lexington, VA are being adversely affected by the behavior of the owner of the Red Hen whether they agree with her or not. They have the choice of standing by her or using their influence to punish her.

The party of love and inclusiveness strikes again.

Sue for harassment. I’m not sure if public stupidity is prosecutable, but if not, it should be.

if POTUS was not successful, the crazies would not attack so viciously.

there are laws charging people for rioting etc

Fortunately for the stupid owner of the Red Hen, Sanders has class and will not sue. A suit would really not accomplish much. Now, a monthly complaint to the board of health will stop the woman in her tracks. That and letting the chamber of commerce for Lexington know that they are in trouble. This little hell town is known for other things that stir the pot. The town is the final resting place for many of the heroes of the CSA, such as Lee. Yet the carpetbaggers from New York, of which this woman is one, have torn down any references or flags honoring the memory and sacrifice these men made to the lost cause of freedom for our South.

Doesn’t that behavior (following the family to a 2nd restaurant and harassing) at least fall under “disturbing the peace” and warrant some police action??

Dimsdale in reply to pwaldoch. | June 26, 2018 at 2:31 pm

Add harassment (pronounced correctly, not politically correctly) and defamation. Surely the Red Harridan is worthy of some form of protest, is it not?

Saw in one article that some sanctimonious lefty placed a handwritten sign outside the restaurant that says: “Democracy Requires Principled Gov’t. Thank you Red Hen!!!”

Remember how Obama opposed gay marriage during the first years of his presidency, then decided he supported it as the political winds changed? Or how about how Obama kept “border kids” in cages, wrapped up in aluminum foil like burritos, while deporting millions of illegal aliens? But that’s okay with leftists, and they never threw Obama officials out of restaurants or harassed them at their homes, because . . . “principles!!!”

Whitewall in reply to Observer. | June 26, 2018 at 8:33 am

That sign writer doesn’t understand the absolutely fearsome thing democracy can be. Interesting it mentions principles, because to the left that only means power. Theirs and all theirs and no one else.

How about when Obama lied to get the passage of Obamacare and the fact that it harmed every single person in the US? Or the fact that he destroyed us on the international stage. Or the fact that he set back race relations 60 years. The list goes on, that is why he is the worst president ever.

First and foremost, do we have a source for this story OTHER than Huckabee?

Because we criticize the MSM for jumping on poorly sourced “Too good to be true” stories all the time. I’d like to see a little more before making any kind of decision. After all, the other non-affiliated Red Hen restaurants have been catching all kinds of heck for this one person’s stupidity, so let’s not do once what they do so often.

I have read this at several different places and Rush talked about it in full yesterday

    You really doubt this?

    txvet2 in reply to georgfelis. | June 26, 2018 at 11:18 am

Yes. The waiter was the one who broke the story, not Sarah Sanders. She only commented on it after it became news. How “liberal” you to think she’s lying.

    c0cac0la in reply to georgfelis. | June 26, 2018 at 12:35 pm

If it were false, the msm would have wasted no time in branding Huckabee a liar. They didn’t waste any time writing puff pieces condoning the owner’s behavior.

Mostly because they agreed with the owner, and only wished they had been there to hurl nasty words. A story about the owner pursuing the People of Evil to another restaurant would fit right in with their “Wow, that’s great!” mindset so there’s no reason they’d flock to deny it.

Just looking for a second datapoint. Some photos, perhaps. A witness at the second restaurant. I’d rather be overly skeptical than fall for an exaggeration, if indeed it is.

Headline on yahoo’s main page states that the incivility in politics began during the 2016 election. Narrative. And gross ignorance of American politics.

I like how Trump re-branded the restaurant to “The Dirty Red Hen”.

All the good little soldiers of the left, marching on Maxine’s orders, proud and certain that all men and women of good character admire them so.

Sarah Sanders is the face of the #metoo movement from liberal violence, threats and abuse.

JohnSmith100 | June 26, 2018 at 9:52 am

Is it time to pluk and fry the Dirty Red Hen?

Hey Milhouse-does this meet your imaginary ‘repeated coduct’ element?

I am surprised that leftists would use Red Hen as a name because that might remind folks of thew now banned fable of The Little Red Hen who toiled for the coming winter while the Democrats loafed (“Who will help me plant this wheat? Not I said the dog”)

DouglasJBender | June 26, 2018 at 1:03 pm

There once was a hen whose feathers were red.

Her relentless virtue-signaling gave her a big head.

All her eggs were hatched, and the chicks were scrambling.

(Pardon me, I believe I am rambling.)

Along came a hen and her brood, from another farm.

“That’s so totally rude!!”, the red hen said with alarm.

“I’m sorry, dude”, said the new hen. “We didn’t mean any harm.”

“Get out!!”, cried the red hen, pointing to the door.

“Leave now, and enter here never more!!”

A raven or two watched quietly in sadness.

Said one to the other, “Have you ever seen such madness?”

“Not I”, said the other, as he pecked at a seed.

“Who knows where this intolerant hatred ultimately will lead?”

“Good question, my friend.”

“Let’s turn on CNN to see where this will end.”

(Eh. ‘Tis what it is.)

I see the problem. She failed to ask them to bake her a cake for her gay wedding, then dissent would have placed the owner into bankruptcy from heavy handed fines after sending every state agency into attack mode. The owner would then also have to into hiding for all the threats of violence.
