Christianity Under Fire at Harvard
Harvard College Faith and Action defunded for adhering to its faith.
An Evangelical Christian group at Harvard recently dismissed its student leader when she revealed that she is in a same sex relationship. For this, the group has been branded discriminatory. For merely holding true to their faith, these students have now seen their group defunded.
Sohrab Ahmari writes at Commentary:
Harvard Declares War on Orthodox Christianity
Drive down Massachusetts Avenue, one of the main thoroughfares in the tony, hyper-educated city of Cambridge, and you will spot two handsome Episcopal churches located a few blocks apart. Both houses of worship are usually festooned with rainbow flags, Black Lives Matter banners, statements on transgender rights and so on. The churches epitomize what might be called “Harvard Christianity”—a Christianity that is fully conformed to modern liberalism and the opinions of the meritocrats who teach and study at the elite university nearby.
But other strands of Christianity—those that conform themselves to the faith’s timeless moral teaching and uphold its sexual anthropology—are not so welcome at the university. Indeed, Harvard is now determined to ostracize, censor, and ultimately root out orthodox Christianity from a university that was founded to train ministers in the Puritan tradition. That is the inevitable conclusion to be drawn from the school’s little-noticed decision this year to suspend and defund the largest evangelical fellowship on campus.
The fellowship, Harvard College Faith and Action (HCFA), ran afoul of the school’s progressive dogmas last September when it asked one of its student leaders to step down from her post. The student was in a same-sex relationship, which meant that she had “an irreconcilable theological disagreement pertaining to our character standards,” as the HCFA’s co-presidents told the Harvard Crimson in February. The HCFA’s character rules on premarital sexual activity apply to students of all orientations, the co-presidents insisted, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. Egged on by a ravenous progressive mob, the Harvard administration suspended the group in February, and last month the Undergraduate Council voted to cut its funding.
The left is pushing society to a point where traditional faith-based beliefs are simply unacceptable in polite society. That’s the progressive goal.
Ahmari elaborated on this point during a recent appearance on FOX News:
Conservative commentator Erick Erickson predicted this situation years ago at Townhall:
You Will Be Made to Care
I have a new book out this week titled “You Will Be Made to Care.” I chronicle the disturbing trend of persecution in the United States against people of faith.
Several years ago, I had an encounter with a young man who told me in no uncertain terms that he did not care about the rapid movement to legalize same sex marriage in the United States. It did not affect him, would not affect him and he did not care about the issue at all.
I replied to him that he would be made to care by the secular left in America. They will abide no dissent on the issue. If he decides, because of his faith, that same sex marriage is a sin, he will be made to change his mind or shut up. He could lose his job, his home, and see his career annihilated if he cared the wrong way. Sadly, since that time, I have been proven right.
Tolerance is no longer good enough for the left. Those who do not embrace the progressive march into the future will be targeted for destruction.

To me, the most troubling part about the story is the girl who infiltrated the Christian group. My sister works for a Christian campus ministry and it is disturbingly common these days for someone just like this homosexual girl to keep their true beliefs silent and then ambush everyone at an awkward moment (one girl, unannounced, actually walked up to a mic during a big event to declare that she was gay and that everyone there should be ashamed of their faith). These people have a psychotic hostility towards the evangelical faith.
Muslims pull this stuff routinely. You read about situations where a female is hired, with all the ground rules laid out (e.g., a dress code, expectations, and so forth). Then the new hire shows up with hijab (or worse, the niqab), demanding accommodations for prayer times, that other employees can’t eat during her Ramadan, that pork sandwiches can’t be in the lunch room, and on and on. When told that that doesn’t conform or meet expectations, out comes the charges of Islamophobia, racism, and all the rest. Then CAIR, the lawyers.
This says a lot about the left,

Christians and Jews around the world are hated by one group or another, so we need to wise up and convert to the muslim belief. That way we wouldn’t be subjected to hate & violence on a daily, hourly, basis. We could all get along & live in peace. Joy and harmony forevermore.
Huh?
Apparent reference to the known propensity for Muslims (at the very least Salafists/Islamists, many/most of the rest simply condone the violence) to engage in murder and mayhem to “teach” others not to irritate Muslims.
“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven”
Sarcasm?
Omg what a headline. I’m so old I remember when Harvard was respectable. now it’s like getting your straight coffee from Starbucks
Has any Nation ever torn down their universities and built them fresh from scratch? Because I think that’s where we’re headed , the rot is systemic.
Hopefully there are catacombs under Harvard.
It may be useful to keep in mind that God will not redeem this world, only some of the people in it. Don’t set you hopes on the earthly kingdom of man ending on a high note.
If it had been an Islamic organization, they would have been left alone. Muslims do not tolerate gays, lesbians or transgenders not to mention that many would not have women in places or leadership either.
Did she normalize or otherwise corrupt Christian philosophy?
She may be transgendered (e.g. sexual orientation), but not an advocate. Not a great role model, but otherwise tolerant.
Sue them until it hurts.
Or just hurt them. Then sue them.
Tell Harvard to keep their money, raise your own, move off campus, proselytize on the public right of way at every entrance to the university, be ready to sue whenever any attempt to remove you from the public square takes place. Now you are your own organization able to profess your own faith, which faith will stand or fall on its own merits.
I’m sure John Harvard appreciates this development – not.
All of these attacks on Christianity only serves to strengthen my faith. If Christianity was not real, then why would so many spend so much time and effort to destroy it using such pathological methods? Yes, many talk about Islam and how it resembles more of a cult than a religion, how corrupt its teachers are, and so forth, but you never see people infiltrate a mosque in order to destroy if from the inside or any of the many other tactic used by the Left and others in their efforts to destroy Christianity. The fact that so many feel so threatened by Christianity that they end up taking such extraordinary actions only serves to show how their fears are based on something very real. If people thought Christianity was not real, then these attacks and such would never occur.
