Trump: “DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act”
“DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works.”
Monday morning, Trump unleashed a round of tweets blaming Mexico and the Democrat party for contributing to America’s Dreamer crisis, picking up a thread he began Sunday on the same subject.
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), the controversial policy created extralegally by President Obama, was rightly kicked to the legislature to legally codify protections for individuals who were brought to the U.S. as children without any legal immigration status.
Late last week, it was reported that a “caravan” of close to a thousand Central Americans were marching through Mexico and onward to the southern U.S. border. Their goal is “to cross our border by seeking asylum, crossing illegally, or by exploiting the ongoing “catch and release” policy,” Fuzzy Slippers blogged Sunday.
Sunday, Trump tweeted.
Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release. Getting more dangerous. “Caravans” coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW. NO MORE DACA DEAL!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 1, 2018
Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. NEED WALL!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 1, 2018
These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA. They want in on the act!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 1, 2018
And then picked up where he left off Monday morning:
Mexico has the absolute power not to let these large “Caravans” of people enter their country. They must stop them at their Northern Border, which they can do because their border laws work, not allow them to pass through into our country, which has no effective border laws…..
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2018
…Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People. Border Patrol Agents (and ICE) are GREAT, but the weak Dem laws don’t allow them to do their job. Act now Congress, our country is being stolen!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2018
DACA is dead because the Democrats didn’t care or act, and now everyone wants to get onto the DACA bandwagon… No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2018
Mexico is making a fortune on NAFTA…They have very strong border laws – ours are pathetic. With all of the money they make from the U.S., hopefully they will stop people from coming through their country and into ours, at least until Congress changes our immigration laws!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 2, 2018
When the Trump Administration announced the cancellation of DACA, they indicated they would support legislation that provided similar protections. A legislative deadline of March 5 was set. That deadline has come and gone and Congress has yet to act.
During the Omnibus Spending Bill press conference, Trump lashed out at Democrats for refusing to include DACA protections among the bill’s hodgepodge of provisions, accusing them of political posturing.

The approaching “Caravan” constitutes an invasion threatening our border, justifying the military response of sending soldiers to intercept the Caravan. Now that the border issue will clearly be shown to be a military issue, Trump can declare that part of the money recently allocated to the military should be properly spent on erecting the Wall.
I think he should do so, show that he is strong and he means business. I am pretty sure that will also have an impact in his approval ratings and the upcoming midterms.
I think he should cause problems for Mexico. Start talking about statehood for the Mexican border states. Let’s see how Mexico will like it if they’re faced with losing the territory of Baja and Sonora because their citizens would rather be Americans than Mexicans.
Good picture of that illegal “invading” horde here.
“1,200 Illegal Aliens From Honduras March Unimpeded Through Mexico Toward U.S. Border – Are Glenn Beck and Dana Loesch Going To Greet Again?…”

I’d close the border for starters. Let Soros pay for the caravan’s room and board in sunny Mexico for a couple of months and see if Mexico likes the humanitarian crisis it helped precipitate!
Assuming this caravan actually exists (and last I heard ICE was saying it doesn’t), they purportedly claim their plan is not to storm the border, but to break up and individually try to sneak across undetected, or else to walk up to the border and surrender to ICE. Either way, there would be no invasion, and therefore neither justification nor opportunity for any kind of military action.
Do you have a link on ICE saying that the caravan doesn’t exist? I did a search and couldn’t find it, so hoping you have a source.
Guard and Reserve RED HORSE, Seabees and Combat Engineers are always looking for construction projects so their traditional members can train. I know they built sections of fence in the mid-2000s. Please, send them to the border and build the wall already.
Turn the heat up to incinerate on Mexico now and fortify the southern border. Quit playing patty-cake with a bunch of swamp dwellers.
He should treat the illegal border crossings as an invasion, deploy troops to the borders to stop them with whatever means are needed.
He also needs to hammer Schumer on DACA, put the blame for no action, even though he repeatedly called for it, invited the Democrats in to talk about it, urged passing a Bill that made the Obama illegal moves legal. Schumer balked. He did nothing, advocated nothing, which means the DACA people affected were pawns and nothing more to the Democrats.
He should also give an EO stating all immigration laws that are on the books will be strictly enforced. Force the Democrats to say what their view of comprehensive immigration reform is, and tear it down line by line. Trump needs to make it simple points that even liberals might understand.
Bloody Chucky Schumer – Bride of Hillary!

Tone deaf to his base. He was elected to destroy DACA not whine about it. Likewise he’s moaning about the border patrol being gutted when he signed the omnibus bill. The only way he can redeem himself is by radical action to stop this ‘caravan’, aka the first wave.
Just a dumb act.
“Dumb Dora” act as it used to be known in the theater.
Mm? I thought as far as his administration is concerned DACA is dead, but a judge has commanded that it be kept alive. Are you suggesting the President tell the federal courts to go pound sand?
If he makes a policy decision to end it, it’s gone. No court has denied his authority to do so.
Both orders enjoining the ending of the program were based on the (absolutely ludicrous) grounds that the president doesn’t really want to do so, and is only trying it because he’s received bad legal advice and thinks he has to. If he announces that now he’s decided he really wants to end it those orders will become moot.
these invaders are taking a page out of the Hamas playbook, which has included putting wymin and chiluns in front and all the while building tunnels miles long across border smuggling drugs MS-13, etc.
we are being invaded with the collusion of the SJW and (D) traitors.
Not according to Buzzfeed, which is the only source for their very existence. That story explicitly quoted them as saying they were not going to storm the border. So no comparison to Gaza.
Many Republicans are throwing up their hands and saying that poor Trump is being held hostage by congress, even after he signed the omnibus like a good boy. All politicians understand is power. Therefore I sent this to the WH this morning. “If you do nothing to actually stop this caravan of illegals approaching our border I will vote straight down ballot democratic in every election after they are allowed in. A good economy is meaningless if American culture is gone.”
I have a lot of sympathy for citizens of a country wanting the borders of that country controlled in a sane and consistent manner. That said, your statement amounts to, “You must act like a dictator, now, or I will vote for the other party.”
If you want to argue a legal method of halting the caravan, please, by all means. If you want to talk about the raw force of government, you’re using a threat of democracy to encourage the shelving of democracy. Forgive me for finding this to be somewhat silly.
Please, by all means go troll somebody else. Our borders define our nation. Trump ran on defending those borders and is abandoning that promise. Feel free to start generating lawsuits that take months or years to resolve while half of Venezuela is sitting in your back yard. There is precedent for sending national guard to the border, Gov Abbott has done it so it can be done again. We are ALREADY flooded with illegals which accumulated while politicians and lawyers dithered. Enough.
It can be stopped simply, without the need for the national guard – just close the border crossing where they are on the day they show up. As long as they’re not armed (and no one has said that they are) then simply take any who cross into custody. Since there may be a large number, set up a temporary holding facility in the Arizona desert, and keep them confined there until sure where to send them back to. It’ll be a pain, but it can be managed fairly easily, and it’ll deny them the propaganda victory they want.
Ok, there’s coherent thought, not coming from a politician unfortunately. To my knowledge catch-and-release is still in effect and how long an illegal can be detained depends on who detained them. For example, if local law enforcement detains then for handing over to ICE it can only be for 48 hours. So while the idea of a holding pen for detentions of open ended duration is appealing, it may not be legal as things stand. I’ve heard that while they started with a target go Brownsville Tx they will probe other crossing points looking for soft spots along the border with their probable destination being California. If you have proof that your solution is doable, better send it to Trump because he’s looking clueless. Fyi, here’s the ACLU cheatsheet for illegals. https://www.acluaz.org/sites/default/files/field_documents/aclu_border_rights.pdf
Much easier and perfectly legal under international law to shoot and kill as they invade by crossing the border illegally. Whether armed or not. Invaders are invaders. Leave the bodies where they fall for coyotes and other wildlife. I don’t care about optics and how the elites in other countries will react. What are they going to do? Sent troops to the U.S.-Mexican border to aid the invaders?
Turns out Trump let the Mexican Govm’t know that he was serious, and they’re halting the caravan before it reaches us and sending them back.
So we don’t need to call out the troops or vote for Maxine Waters after all. Just Trust in Trump.
During the Omnibus Spending Bill press conference, Trump lashed out at Democrats for refusing to include DACA protections among the bill’s hodgepodge of provisions, accusing them of political posturing.
The President announced the end of Obama’s illegal program, and tossed the question to Congress.
What Trump thinks of DACA isn’t an issue. He’s already declared that he doesn’t believe it’s within the Presidency’s powers to implement such a program, whether that President is Barry O. or Trump himself.
Of course Congress—very predictably—failed to do anything with it. So Trump takes advantage of that opportunity to rubbish the D’rats.
Sounds like a good plan. What’s the downside?
Stay ignorant.
The anti-native enthusiasts are more concerned about immigration than emigration reform.
This caravan is a win for Trump. Trump should not mobilize the military, as border crossing, in this case is a civil violation, NOT a military incursion. And, thanks to the 9th Circuit and the SCOTUS [for not hearing that case] in Arizona, the states have no power to enforce immigration law, including border crossings. Now, it is possible that a state governor could mobilize the national Guard, in his state, to assist local law enforcement enforce such state laws as trespass. But, that will just aid Trump.
Trump will point to people coming openly across the Southern border and say, “See? If we only had a wall far fewer SBP agents could control the border. The Congress created this problem and now the chickens have come home to roost.”
I love the Law of Unintended Consequences.
As for DACA, it was always dead. Despite the misinformation that 70% of American voters want to see DACA legalized, the politicians KNOW this is BS and that the majority of people in this country are not in favor of normalizing the Dreamers. Trump won that battle as well, when he gave the Congress beau coup time to pass legislation to normalize the DACA recipient’s status and they did not.
