Actress Cynthia Nixon Announces Candidacy for New York Governor
Wait. I thought celebrities shouldn’t run for office?
Actress Cynthia Nixon, better known as Miranda from Sex and the City, has announced her candidacy for New York governor via Twitter.
She has never run for elected office (sound like someone we all know?) and will take on two-term Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary.
I love New York, and today I’m announcing my candidacy for governor. Join us: https://t.co/9DwsxWW8xX pic.twitter.com/kYTvx6GZiD

She says in the video:
“Our leaders are letting us down,” she says in a video posted on Twitter, talking about the inequities in New York spliced between images of her walking on the streets of New York City and taking the subways.
“Something has to change,” she says in the ad. “We want our government to work again, on health care, ending mass incarceration, fixing our broken subway. We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us. It can’t just be business as usual anymore.”
She mentions how she has never lived anywhere else but New York City and reminds the viewers that she grew up in a one-bedroom apartment with a single mom. She’s also proud that she graduated from public school and that her children attend public schools.
The New York Times wrote that it’s expected Nixon will “challenge Mr. Cuomo from the political left.” Who knows if she stands a chance since he sits on a “$30 million war chest.” She is an ally of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has notorious “clashes with Cuomo on various issues.”
Lately, she has been pushing the Democrat party on a national level “to carve out a strong liberal identity instead of being merely the ‘anti-Trump party.'”
Nixon has been vocal about her politics, mainly towards public education, LGBT equality, and abortion. She married her wife Christine Marinoni in 2012 after dating for eight years and has one child with her. Before that she had a long-term relationship with a schoolteacher and has two kids with him. Nixon also became a breast cancer activist after her diagnosis in 2006.
Here is the full video on YouTube:
I have to say it’s pretty decent. There’s no direct trashing of Trump, Republicans, or even Cuomo. She makes herself relatable and tells the viewers what she wants to change.
I think the biggest thing is that she sends her kids to public schools. We know a lot of celebrities and those in power talk up public schools and how they’re so great, but don’t send their kids to them. She also stresses her roots to New York.
I’ll be interested to see what kind of support she receives. After all, I thought celebrities shouldn’t run for office! Oh wait, I know what they’ll say..not as president on your first shot!
By the way, Nixon won an Emmy in 2004 and who presented the award to her?

Oh yay. Push even further left. Now democrats will have a choice between a crook and kook. And one of them is surely to get the job.
Living in CNY I need advice. Should I change my party registration now so I can vote for her in the primary and then change it back?
You can’t. Under NY state law changes of party enrollment are only processed once a year. All changes filed between Oct-14-2017 and Oct-12-2018 will be opened and processed on Nov-13-2018. Changes filed after Oct-12-2018 will not be opened until Nov-12-2019.
You can vote Dem in the Dem primary then vote for whomever you want in November. I’ve done that a few times in an attempt to get the lesser of two evils on the November ballot. (P.S. It didn’t work either time)
No, you can’t. If you’re not registered as a D you can’t vote in the D primary, and it’s too late to change.
Why do you insist on spreading misinformation? Gospace asked a simple question, which has only one correct answer. I know the answer and gave it. What more is there to be said about it? Why contribute a wrong answer?
When voting in the primary in the great state of Ohio, the poll worker asks you Republican or Democrat. The ballot you get is indicative of your answer. In November, there is only one ballot. Next year’s primary is exactly the same way, you are asked which party. No need to affiliate with a party ahead of the primaries.
“Nixon has been vocal about her politics, mainly towards public education, LGBT equality, and abortion. She married her wife Christine Marinoni in 2012 after dating for eight years and has one child with her. Before that she had a long-term [non-marriage] relationship with a schoolteacher and has two kids with him.”
Don’t know where to begin.
Will never get use to those phrases, “her wife” and “his husband.”
Perhaps start with “…and has one child with her.” and go from there?
New York is not marxist enough or lesbian enough. Therefore, you should vote for me!
Though I am confused about who I should fornicate, I am really, really good at reciting words that someone else wrote and pretending to be someone else. Vote for Cynthia!
Great. Marketing celebrities for public office in the same way they market movies. They are good at it, so I don’t underestimate their ability to make the latest air-headed celebrity into a blockbuster politician.
Three things….Unless my “science” has another definition, her “wife” would be hard pressed to provide sperm for the child she “had with her,” sending her child to public school guarantees another uneducated sjw, and lastly, if she is an ally of de blasio how can she claim to be, “sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power more than they do us?”
She is also faced with the conundrum of running to the left of Cuomo? Not sure that’s possible.
Oh, goody. Another Nixon in politics. Who knew there were so many worms in that big apple?
Nixon’s the One!
Speaking as a resident of New York state, she won’t be a worse governor than Prince Andy.
i have no idea who this bimbo is… and i plan to keep it that way.
She’s a sexually-confused, aging actress best known for playing a slutty lawyer in a cable t.v. show.
But by all means, New York voters, make her your governor! Who needs experience, competence, and knowledge for that job? Cynthia Nixon once played a Harvard-trained lawyer on t.v., much like Barry Obama did! Obviously that’s all the qualification she needs!
she’s the one that murdered her babies to keep her shoe budget from going to diapers
Am I supposed to know who this person is, and pretend she is relevant?
That should be the next iteration of the #TimesUp movement, for all women in public. Example:
“She married her wife Christine Marinoni… and has one child with her…long-term relationship with a schoolteacher and has two kids with him… as well as the four kids she executed in utero.”
Alan Dershowitz has tweeted that Nixon has supported anti-Israel organizations and boycotts of Israel. Not the kind of ideas decent people should support.
I’m happy to say I never heard of her before she announced this candidacy. Sounds like a New York City kind of leftist. Will the entire state buy this?
Sadly, anti-Israel venom and anti-Semitism is very much in fashion amongst many prominent Leftists. Sort of a way to show that you’re a full-blown SJW who holds all the correct Leftist positions, supporting the allegedly victimized “Palestinians” against their alleged, white, colonial, usurper oppressors.
A narrative that is as patently fallacious and ignorant, as it is flat-out idiotic.
Great: starting small.
She’ll be a much worse joke than arnold, though more competent than obama.
Why doesnt she try dog catcher first: lets see if she can run that office before she’s placed at the head of a large state.
Trump was a self made billionaire in the toughest profession there is.
Imagine the fake news shilling for this woman?
“Imagine the fake news shilling for this woman?” If she were to actually defeat Governor Cuomo the Lesser for the Democrat nomination and was running against whomever the Republicans put on the chopping block, I could easily see the MSM shilling for her.
I’ve never heard of her before today and I’ve never seen anything she’s been in.
I did take a quick look at an interview she did in support of abortion where she stated women must have the right to decide when and if to start a family. All I can say is, honey… it’s 2018. If you are using abortion as a means of family planning, you need to get sterilized because it’s obvious you’re an irresponsible twit.
“End mass incarceration.” Such a broad feel-good statement (to her). If one deserves to be incarcerated, incarcerate. How does one define “mass”? If you have 3,000 people in jail for first degree murder, shouldn’t they BE in jail, or should you just “end” it because it was “mass”?
The limousine liberals in favor of releasing prisoners (outside of the non-violent offenders and crimes that are associated with violence) do not have fear that they will be released into their neighborhoods. But it is not hard to imagine what mass releases of prisoners would do less affluent neighborhoods.
Similarly, the liberals that advocate vociferously for abortion on demand at taxpayer expense were not the target of an abortion themselves.
Who? I have honestly never seen or heard-of this person before.
She’ll have the Sex and the City contingent of thirtysomething women voters in the bag if she runs.
