DNC is Going Broke as RNC Rakes in Cash
“This report is nothing short of a disaster”
Tom Perez and Keith Ellison run the DNC, and one of their jobs is to raise money. Any way you look at it, they are failing their party in this task. The DNC had a miserable year for fundraising in 2017.
Michael Ahrens is the GOP’s Rapid Response Director. Last night, he tweeted this:
The DNC tried to bury their latest FEC #s tonight…

Those numbers are a nightmare for Democrats.
Ed Morrissey of Hot Air puts it in perspective:
DNC SOTU Data Dump: By The Way, We’re Nearly Broke
The DNC should, under almost any other leadership, be raising money hand over fist. They have a hostile president who almost delights in polarization, a progressive wing that fancies itself a “resistance,” and billionaires who want to keep fighting the last election. Democratic congressional committees have remained competitive in fundraising, although Republicans have shown a considerable improvement in their efforts even with a relatively unpopular president as the public face of the party.
This report is nothing short of a disaster. Having $6.1 million in debt with only $6.3 million cash on hand is basically being broke. Debt means interest payments, after all, which will eventually overtake the COH position — and probably sooner rather than later. The DNC has to be able to spend to set up its fundraising, and right now that’s looking iffy.
More to the point, the DNC has to organize and fund a GOTV effort this fall if they want to score big in the midterms. Some have suggested that the dollars are going instead to the candidates directly, although there’s no real data to support that as of yet.
Inversely, the Republican National Committee had a banner year for fundraising. Charles Russell reports at the Washington Free Beacon:
RNC Raises $132.5 Million in 2017, Doubling DNC’s Total for Year
The Republican National Committee announced Wednesday that it raised a total of $132.5 million in 2017, setting a record for an off-election year.
“Our strong fundraising numbers reflect voters’ optimism and continued support as President Trump fulfills his promises to the American people,” RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “In his first year, President Trump delivered a historic tax cut to the middle-class, slashed regulations, and grew our economy. We look forward to electing more Republican leaders to Congress who will support President Trump’s winning agenda on behalf of the American people.”
The RNC raised $11.1 million in December, ending the year with no debt and $38.8 million cash on hand as the national party prepares for the 2018 midterm elections.
Liberals in media keep talking about a supposed “blue wave” that’s coming in this year’s midterm elections. How are they planning to fund it?

Is it true,,,,that you can really run out of someone else’s money?
Road Trip! To Venezuela for a primer in Leftist financing.
Don’t worry. They’ve got a back-up plan, sticking up the Federal Reserve Bank.
They just need to dial the Trump Is Hitler’s 4th Reich rhetoric up to 11 and all will be well.
In related news, the GOPe had declared the fundraising gap to be unsportsmanlike and poor form. They will donate $60 million from the RNC coffers. On their knees.
McLame and Flukes to lead the hand over gofundme /s
That’s only half a joke. It’s not like any of this money is going to be spent on conservatives. They will find excuses just like they did for Roy Moore.
Touche!
As many of said, don’t contribute to the GOPe.
Contribute directly to individual candidates.
Those who have been predicting the 2018 outcome have not been paying attention to what Trump is doing, and what he can do.
He has been fending off a coup, and hasn’t been able to campaign. That should be coming to an end soon.
the greatest showman should be a biopic of DJT after 2024 retirement.

“Tom Perez and Keith Ellison run the DNC”
Tequila & Taqiyya,
It certainly isn’t pretty, but I’m wondering if the funds haven’t simply shifted to other fundraising hubs like OFA. The party itself may be hurting for funds, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the funds aren’t available to their members.
ya got it, bra.
Not to pee in anybody’s Cheerio’s here, but in round numbers another way to look at those numbers is the RNC had to spend about $100 million simply to hold four House seats and lose one Senate seat in special elections. They lost the NJ governorship and failed to re-take VA governorship. I haven’t looked at DailyKos spreadsheet lately, but they had been getting creamed in special elections in state level races.
Those aren’t pretty facts.
It seems like things may be going the GOP’s way now after the tax reform and Trump’s very good SOTU. But the media have been working overdrive to confuse viewers and try to make them change their mind about what they saw with their own eyes with the SOTU.
And they are going to try to keep the Russia delusion story alive as long as they can.
Just read that left wing billionaires George Soros and Don Sussman spent $1 million each to buy the Alabama Senate seat. They funded the Senate Majority PAC. Lots of people donated smaller amounts.
In other words, people are bypassing the DNC to fund individual candidates/races.
Anybody who thinks rank and file Democrats are not chomping at the bit to vote Republicans out in November are kidding themselves – regardless of how broke the DNC is or what the generic ballot says.
That’s a fair point. All it means is that Dems are more sick of their own party than the GOP is of theirs; With good reason, given the Clinton-machine steamrolling Bernie. What are the Super Pacs looking like I wonder?
“In other words, people are bypassing the DNC to fund individual candidates/races.”
Like the article says: Any actual evidence for that claim?

Just in passing, much of the money spent by the GOP was spent to make sure that the Democrats won.
Damn good point, SB.
f2000, agreed. I think the Marxist Left is peeling off from the Democrat Party. Funds aren’t drying up due to disinterest, they are drying up because the Marxists are disappointed that the Party won’t put more brownshirts on the street.
It’s really frustratiing to watch the Marxist Left regroup after each failure and rebrand itself, generation after generation. I feel like Dr Evil’s kid:
“Let me grab my rifle and we can kill them together. Right now”
“How unsophisticated you are, Fen. No, we shall place them in an elaborate and excruciatingly slow death trap, turn our backs and walk away while assuming they’ve met their demise”.
slightly OT, but that bit about Schiff claiming that Nunes gave the White House an “altered memo” is hilarious. Looks like Schiff demanded that Nunes make a couple grammatical corrections, and also both the FBI and Schiff said one passage was revealing too much, so they asked that Nunes delete it. So Nunes said, “okay, I’ll make the changes you want, doesn’t really change much.”
And as soon as the changes were made, Schiff went balistic and
started screeching “OHMYGOD!!!! YOU ALTERED THE MEMO YOU ALTERED THE MEMO!!!”
I think the next complaint will be that Nunes had it printed out on off-white paper stock, and Schiff voted for it to only be printed on white-white paper stock.
Well he is known as Adam full of Schiff.
I wouldn’t and never have given money to either party. I have given to specific candidates; McCain, Romney and Cruz. I wish I could have the money back from the former two.
Tom Perez and Keith Ellison run the DNC…
Well, there’s your problem.
People full of envy, hate and a sense of entitlement don’t make for a healthy or successful political party.
Perez has all the social graces of a rabid weasel. Does not play well in the Democratic paymasters in the Board Rooms of the investment bankers and hedge funds that traditional prop up the Democratic Party.
Keep up the great work guys!
As a constitutional conservative,I really appreciate good work!
