A commenter using the pseudonym “Milwaukeean” has been active here for the past couple of weeks regarding the various court and other disputes in Wisconsin.
Milwaukeean didn’t seem to cross the line from dissenter to troll, made some good points at times, and often argued against my position and the position of other readers. That’s fine.
Unlike some blogs, we don’t screen people out — much less go back and delete their comment histories — just because we disagree. If all you do is name calling, you will not be put through, but dissent is patriotic here.
But these sort of commenters always seem to end badly, in a flurry of name-calling and self-righteous indignation.
Jimbo3: It was very clear that Rosen was talking economic issues, if you bothered to listen to her comments. And Ann does not understand what it’s like for most Americans who aren’t married to someone with several hundred millions in net assets.
It’s too bad you’re such a filthy liar, Professor. Who does pay you to lie for the GOP, and how much do you get paid?

“Does not get along well with others.” heh
Do you think that he is a Democrat?
It is odd, but it really is true…
They eventually break down under the pretense of rationality, and go “full moonbat”.
Always sort of tragic to watch…while being strangely hilarious…
You kind of understand where Breitbart got at least some of his joie de vivre.
Hilary Rosen described herself as ” I m a Mom too.”Thats not true.Hilary is the “male half ” of her relationship with her significant other. Elizabeth is the stay at home Mom. Hilarys role is that of the _”Dad”. If Hilary was also the Mom then each of them is one -half Mom, not the same as being the entire Mom.
To be factually correct Hilary should have said ” I can relate to Anne Romney s role. I used to , before our separation ,be the breadwinner for our coupling with my beloved house partner who is the one who actually takes care of the kids”,come home every night to the Mom in our house . While I was not factually a Mom, like so many of our stories of our lives, my story has the spirit of reality which is what is really important.
“Narratives”…
Hmm… relationship with the other mother ended… have to wonder if her comments regarding stay at home moms have something to do with her feelings toward her ex. I can just image what she has said in their breakup, “I went out to work EVERY day while you lazed about watching The L Word and eating bonbons!”
Easier and just as accurate for her to say she’s a mom too.
No need for the tortured wordplay you seem to require to understand that two women can both be ‘mom’.
Then I guess that, since Rosen has only been one of two “moms” but never the only “mom” raising a family with a “dad,” Rosen has no idea about and is disqualified from commenting on Ann Romney’s experiences. Right?
Meh. That’s nothing. Let it roll off your back and keep doing what you do. Do not get sucked into the comment vortex. (Just look at LGF)
You are more tolerant than I, Professor. My blog get roughly 20 hits a day (less than 0.1% of your daily traffic, according to the Sitemeter link at the bottom of your web page). I moderate comments, and I have deleted a handful that I find nasty.
I’m no lawyer and don’t pretend to be one, but don’t you have some kind of duty to go after LIBEL, or lose your ability to do so?
Or am I thinking of trademarks?
To get to damages in defamation, you have to show that somebody BELIEVED the lies.
So, nothing here…
Sounds like “Milwaukeean” is being paid (or maybe he just works for free) for the Democrats in their efforts to walk-back the “War On Women Meme”.
Here’s a good take on the whole fiasco:
Hilary Rosen debacle is payback for Democrats over their Rush Limbaugh attacks and ‘war on women’ meme
Perhaps the most preposterous thing Rosen said on CNN last night was not the foolish “never worked a day in her life” jibe aimed at Ann Romney but her contention that Republicans invented the notion of a “war on women”.
“Well, first, can we just get rid of this word ‘war’ on women?” she said. “The Obama campaign does not use it. President Obama does not use it. This is something that the Republicans are accusing people of using, but they’re actually the one spreading it.”
The problem with that is (h/t Bob Obringer for most of these links) that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee drew up a petition protesting the “Republican war on women”. So too did the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. And Nancy Pelosi described the Ryan budget as a “war on women”.
Not to mention such notorious Republican outfits such as NARAL, Emily’s List, Daily Kos and MoveOn.org. Or the front group “Women of the 99 Percent” that has been making illegal robocalls across the country.
Oh and then there was a person called Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who just happens to be chair of the Democratic National Committee.
I’ve said this before, the Left just doesn’t understand how this internet thingy works.
Either Joe Biden did not get the memo to not use the “War on Women” meme or he did get a special memo to use the “War on Women” meme – you never know to what lengths the Obama administration will go in their attempts at disinformation & manipulation of the minds of their constituents.
Joe Biden: ‘War on women is real’
I need to correct myself – I should have been referring to “Jimbo3”, not “Milwaukeean”. I clicked on the first 3 links looking for the backstory, gave up before trying the 4th link.
Perhaps a little off topic but can you help me? It seems that the basis for community property legislation is that even if the spouse “doesn’t work”, he/she contributes significantly to the household income and is entitled to half. Is Hillary Rosen saying that we should rethink this? Is she saying that stay-at-homes do nothing related to earning income?
Hard to believe that Ann Romney could find a job that paid as much as half the income Mitt earned with her assistance.
I think that Rosen is anti-women on more than just the childraising issue.
http://www.nationalreview.com/exchequer/295877/economics-ann-romney
That provides an excellent ECONOMIC analysis of why Ann Romney’s decision was sound…and why the Deemocrat meme isn’t just snide, but STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooopid.
Some people truly believe that the only way someone could disagree with them is if that someone was getting paid or part of a grand conspiracy.
We know you don’t take banning someone or blocking their comments lightly. After all, I’m still here.
I’ve notice this “getting paid” meme everywhere recently, it’s bizarre.
From a twitter conversation I had:
“@mmfa @Shoq @StopRush pwned by harmless yankee prof @LegInsurrection, exposes their amateurish effort – https://legalinsurrection.com/2012/03/independent-rush-boycott-group-coordinated-with-media-matters/ #tcot #p2″ – @quiznilo
And then the reply:
“.@quiznilo LOL “Harmless yankee professor” (who just happens to write for the right wing as a contractor.. but you know, whatevs!)” – @Shoq
wut?
How the heck is anyone supposed to *prove* that they are not on someone’s payroll. Are people not passionate about issues unless they are being compensated?
I suppose this is a variation on the age-old argument from the left, reserved for when you nail them with facts, that you’re a “shill for big business” or “the insurance industry” and therefore not to be trusted.
If you’re on Twitter and you haven’t yet been accused of being in the pay of Big Oil, Big Mining, Joooooos Inc., the Bros. Koch &/or the GOP (add LNP & IPA if you’re Aussie)… you’re not trying hard enough.
Koch seems to be their favorite lately. I was accused of being on the brothers’ payroll because I linked to an article that argued calling Zimmerman a racist based on the evidence we have right now is wrong.
In their mind, the Koch Brothers probably paid Zimmerman to kill Martin.
I hope you didn’t try to deny it. Denying you’re on the Koch Brothers’ payroll is proof that you’re on the Koch Brothers’ payroll. Or something.
Damn.
I missed all the fun.
I don’t like the name calling and conservatives can go on a tirade as well as any liberal. I’ve read some filthy, rude and insulting things that they’ve posted. Everyone is not going to agree. On this one, it’s much to do about nothing. Ann Romney does work hard raising 5 boys unless they have a nanny, housekeeper and all that (do they?). But she sure doesn’t know anything about economic troubles and that’s just a fact.
Just like the Limbaugh thing, many conservatives jumped to Limbaugh’s defense but get angry if something is said about a conservative woman. Either it’s ok OR IT ISN’T. You can’t have it both ways.
“But she sure doesn’t know anything about economic troubles and that’s just a fact.”
Ah. So Teddy Kennedy could not possibly understand the plight of the “working man”.
LOVE that…!!!
You have to be wilfully ignorant to claim that the right is the same as the left when it comes to hateful, vile rhetoric on teh intarwebz, or anywhere else actually. No, the left corners that market.
“I don’t like the name calling”
I would have skipped the tu quoque & ended it right there if I were you.
#protip #caring
‘But she sure doesn’t know anything about economic troubles and that’s just a fact.”
Why, because YOU say so?
The issue with Rosen is not name-calling – it’s the falseness of her claim. Do you really not see that?
What do 0bama or Biden know about economic troubles?
And there’s nothing wrong with calling a slut a slut; there’s everything wrong with calling someone who isn’t a slut a slut.
Like “Tamminator,” I missed all the fun but that might have been intentional; don’t really know, these days! Hummmm!
OT: Has the date of Zimmerman’s public execution been set yet? Other than the Rev. Al and the Rev. Jesse, will the other executioners be identified?
The good news is, we all got to use Jimbo as a chew toy for a good chunk of yesterday before the Professor banned him.
Foils are fun…
AND useful…!!!
I missed the fun. It was a rainy day in SoCA and I was busy raising my two boys.
Translation: Keeping them occupied and out of trouble when the weather is too nasty. (wink)–from another mom who knows whereof you speak!
It was very clear that Rosen was talking economic issues, if you bothered to listen to her comments.
My guess is that Rosen indeed meant work outside the home by “never worked a day in her life.” I also think her word choice was deliberate.
My guess is that the choice of words was meant as:
a. surreptitious venom against Ann Romney’s good name, and
b. a dog whistle to Rosen’s fellow Left-Thinking Wymyn.
Such dog whistle work well inside the Left’s echo chamber, and Rosen seems genuinely surprised that this one did not work in public.
A lot of “Jimbo’s” in the blogosphere of late. They seem to be just about everywhere I go.
Democrats love to accuse conservatives of doing the thing the Democrats are actually doing.
So if they are true to form, this phony assault on conservative bloggers as “liars on a payroll”, is to hide all the Democrat blogger propagandists that are working for Soros and company via Media Matters et al.
Beck used to roll out the huge list of organizations Soros supports. And we know ACORN disbands, but just reemerges with different names. It is the Democrats that want to “fundamentally transform America”, so they lie and hide their true identity. They pass laws and tell us we’ll find out what is in them later. They tell Russia they’ll be more flexible AFTER they’re reelected. Or they reveal in Egypt that they don’t think the US constitution is a good model to follow.
And paid demonstrators are a Democrat and union thing. I’ve never heard of paid Tea party marchers. But I think most of the mob of hateful liberals are just stirred up by professional rabble rousers. Surely the Fluke and Trayvon stories have shown a coordinated effort to rile up the base with hate and divisiveness, based in deceit.
Professor,
You’re driving these people nuts.
Good on ya!

Too bad about Jimbo3. He and I were going over his “economic issues” defense of Rosen on the early thread, but it didn’t seem that we were getting anywhere. Now I see why.
I’ll recommend Rush, who has covered this well. The fundamental issue is feminazi dogma, and Rosen revealed the rage they feel against the traditional family. To them, “working women” are only those who work for a wage. But it’s not about economics, as any tally of day-kennel costs will show (yeah, I’m a little biased). Moms at home are great economic engines, by the savings, by freeing up paid caregivers for other activities, and by making strong future citizens. Moms who work – my mom did – are great, too, but that’s not the issue here.
