Labor Day Special: Name Kemberlee’s Baby Contest
The first Legal Insurrection baby.
Okay, so we’re doing this.
Kemberlee’s baby daughter is expected on or around October 4. I’ve seen the most recent ultrasound image. That baby is ready to bust out of that place.
But she needs a name.
Kemberlee and her husband have consented to us running a naming contest. Which is good, because we were going to do it anyway.
The Reader Poll below contains some possible names provided to me by Kemberlee. You can suggest others in the comments. The results, of course, are not binding, but the public pressure brought by this vote will be intense.

One of my granddaughters is named “Verity”.
I think that a bonnie name. “Liberty” is good, too.
I have always been a fan of more traditional names my personal favorite is; Rachel.
Traditional names really stand out right now, in a positive way.
Completely agree.
Indeed. My suggestion is “Victoria”.
She can be “Vicky” until she graduates college, dons the power suit and tells her coworkers to call her Victoria.
And we could all use a little victory in our lives. 🙂
Exactly. When parents name their daughters with these “cutie” names, later in life that name could be a big negative. Can you imagine voting for a President named “Wendy” or take seriously a lawyer named “Tammy”?
She may not be a lawyer, but most people take Tammy Bruce seriously.
Or even one named Hillary… ew!
I’m pretty sure my Husband wouldn’t have a problem voting for a President named “Wendy”. I doubt my parents would have a problem with it either.
Rachel. I like it. Rachel Olivia Kaye. And you can call her The ROK for short. 🙂
Oh. 🙂
It took me a while…
None of the above. A couple of years ago both my nieces were pregnant with girls and for some reason neither one used my suggestion, inexplicably. So the name is there and it’s just crying out to be used.
Assuming the surname will be “Kaye,” here it is: Miguela Cabrera Kaye. Naming a child after the last Triple Crown winner in baseball…I mean, what else?
If the blessed event happens after the World series and the Cubs win, she could choose Joanna Maddon Kaye.
How about Daughter of Woman Crazy Enough to Let Internet Choose Her Name?
Or Dowcelichn for short.
Abigail.
My niece has a 2 yo named Abigail Rose (Abbie). Her 6 yo sis is named Madeline (Maddy).
And a third daughter on the way, name yet to be dislosed at this point.
I think we cawn all afgree there is one name she should not use: Hillary.
Veronica. No one names their kid Veronica anymore.
Hmmm. Ronnie for short.
Mandy.
Nothillary?
Silvie
Yes, it’s been a slow day for me, too.
October 4th is a good day (my dad was born on that day) and it is the Feast of St. Francis. So, you could go with Frances and if you find a nice name starting with S, then your girl will be Frances S. Kaye. How’s that for a variation of a patriotic name…..
But, just go with a name that’s sounds good and easy to spell. Much easier in life if you don’t have to spell your name. Few people spell my last name correctly.
Amelie, Ivy, Elenora, Sabrina
Gustava Amelia Chickfila
Obvs.
Congratulations Congrats congrats
When the ones that you want to have babies do:) The world just got a little better.
Thanks so much! <3
Does this mean Clerk IU isn’t a possibility?
How ’bout “Jaye”…???
Karen.
Mandy — a tribute to a fighter for liberty.
I endorse this.
Mandy Liberty Kaye. I like it.
PS. The more formal “Amanda” is also good. Amanda Liberty Kaye.
Ophelia – after the protagonist in “Pan’s Labyrinth,” a brave little girl.
MaggotAtBroadAndWall has a nice ring to it, no?
No.
Ava
i think it’s terrible that there are no gender neutral names to chose from…
how arrogant to decide for xer what sexual identity xhey will have by imposing a “female” normative name on a helpless person.
that’s just ageist conceit.
Lol. And completely intentional.
not to mention sarcasm on my part… 😎
I gotcha 😉
Easy call her kimber kaye!
Teresa.
That was my Aunt’s name. Love it.
And, a number of Saints, including Teresa of Avila and, of course, the new one, Mother Teresa. Whatever your choice, God bless.
Boadicea. A badass just like her mama!
Or Mary.
<3
In honor of our fallen compatriot.
Phillis
A dramatic moment and I blow it.!
Phyllis
Dannie
Ivanka
Please, no boys’ names made feminine by adding an “a” at the end. Michaela, Daniela, Briana, Erica, Roberta…
Agreed.
My suggestion, chosen almost at random: Sheina
ETA: Which is not a feminine form of Shane.
Sheina is a punk rocker…

Mary. Mary Kaye.
(j/k!)
I do like Kate or Katherine. Or Catriona. Not Clementine, though. That’s my dog’s name.
Liberty
I’ve always had a unique name with literary origins and appreciated it.
Ariadne is the coolest girl’s name I’ve heard lately – from Inception and Greek mythology.
Nyx is pretty cool too – its from Tinker Bell and and also Greek mythology.
I have no suggestions at all. Any names I chose for my own babies were immediately revised when they were born as they didn’t’ seem to “match” the names we’d chosen.
Now my younger daughter is (please G-d) expecting in January, no idea if it’s a boy or a girl. I just hope they choose a normal name and not one of those ultra-modern ones!
I’m curious to see which name Kemberlee chooses for her baby. Maybe it will give me inspiration to pass on to my daughter! 🙂
A fan of Shakespeare are we?
All are good in my opinion, except Klara and Edie. My vote was for Margrette, although perhaps that’s too old fashioned. Is Margrette pronounced the same way as Margaret?
One of my favorite 4-H kids is named “America Jane” – I just love it!
Ophelia. Then if she goes by a first initial she can be O. Kaye.
Olivia.
I like a name with a bit of flexibility… a child is small, the name should be able to grow a bit…My neighbor has three lovely girls, with rather exotic names, Gabriel, Sophia and Isabella. So, as children they become Gabby, Sophy and Izzy.. something to think about..My vote on the list was the least popular, Bianca, because I think it is a bit exotic and you can just shorten it to B, which is cute for a little girl..
Something exotic for an exquisite girl, which Kemberlee’s child can’t help being:
M’Lor J’nai
If my boys had been girls one of them would have borne this name.
