White House Looking for “Under the Radar” Routes for Syrian Refugees

White House Looking for “Under the Radar” Routes for Syrian Refugees

Urged by the UN to be more “flexible” in “resettling” Syrian refugees

Apparently, the White House is bowing to pressure from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (yes, such a position actually exists) and is going to look for alternate ways to bring Syrian refugees into the country.

Fox News reports:

The Obama administration appears to be bowing to international pressure and pursuing under-the-radar “alternative” ways to bring in more Syrian and other refugees — as soon as this year.

The latest indication that the administration is preparing to take in more than the 10,000 Syrians this year it already has committed to follows a March 30 “high-level meeting” on Syrian refugee admission in Geneva, Switzerland — convened by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

At the meeting, attended by State Department officials, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi called for countries to pursue “alternative avenues” for refugees – such as student and work visas, and expanded family reunification programs.

“These pathways can take many forms: not only resettlement, but also more flexible mechanisms for family reunification, including extended family members, [labor] mobility schemes, student visa and scholarships, as well as visa for medical reasons,” Grandi said. This followed an adviser suggesting the U.S. ask universities to offer scholarships to Syrian students, and help Syrian-Americans bring in their extended families outside the “time-consuming” refugee resettlement process.

Following these suggestions from the Grand Poobah of refugees, the State Department issued a statement confirming its commitment to “settling” 10,000 refugees in America this year, and a total of 100,000 by the end of fiscal year 2017.

Fox continues:

The State Department immediately issued a media note reaffirming the “commitment to resettle at least 10,000 Syrians in FY 2016 and increase the total number of resettled refugees from around the world to 100,000 by the end of FY 2017.”

Additionally, in a wordy statement, the State Department appeared to agree with many of Grandi’s conclusions.

“The United States joins UNHCR in calling for new ways nations, civil society, the private sector, and individuals can together address the global refugee challenge. The United States encourages other countries to consider expanding resettlement and other forms of admissions for all refugee populations, ensuring that more of those in need have the opportunity to start their lives anew in safety and with dignity,” the note said.

Who needs all those messy immigration laws when you can just open the flood gates via numerous back door machinations?

They could bring Paulie Ryan on board as an adjunct Czar. Jeb! could mobilize certain churches as conduits for acts of “love.”

I don’t want a president or an administration that works to circumvent the laws; I want a president and an administration that upholds and enforces the laws. Any wonder Obama remains as unpopular as he does?

His numbers went up in recent months.

He joked it is because of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz (their pictures were here at 10:17:

But it is also because of Hillary Clinton.

He’s looking better and better, yes. People will miss him.

      The bit starts at 9:37.

You get the feeling he prefers Bernie Sanders (he made a joke about Goldman Sachs – if this material works well, he’ll use it next year at Goldman Sachs – earn himself some serious Tubmans – at 2:00) but in another place (at 3:02) he said “next year at thsi time someone else will be standing in this spot, and it’s anyone’s guess who SHE will will be.” He also specifically called attention to Bernie Sanders at another spot.

Another day, another obama outrage.
It’s just great having a narcissist for president.

Sure let’s bring in tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of these Muslim immigrants. Sure they are not vetted to ensure terrorists are not among them. Without question most are unable to speak English or have any sort of job skills. Who cares that the overwhelming majority will end up on permanent welfare especially at a time when our country’s finances are in the toilet. Does it matter that the old paradigm of immigration where the immigrant brings something to America is over while the new paradigm is how these immigrants bring nothing but increased debt and unemployment? Does it really matter that these people, if like those many other Muslim immigrants already here, refuse to be assimilated into American culture?

What could possibly go wrong?

Or they could dump their anti-native policies and redress the problems they created.

What is it with this Administration and “under the radar” solutions?

In other words, the Obama Administration is considering facilitating the admission of more Syrians, but not as refugees. That would be under other provisions of law, plus temporary visas for medical care and more student visas, and even some work visas. This would apply mostly to people who have been out of Syria for some time. It’s not circumventing any law.
