Feds move in on Hillary’s server and thumb drive
Reports: Top Secret info in some emails.
From day one we have been saying “get the server.” On March 11, 2015, after Hillary’s infamous UN press conference regarding the server, I wrote, Hillary’s consciousness of guilt:
Why volunteer that she deleted personal emails, and drag the red herring across the trail to lead the discussion towards Chelsea, her mother and yoga?
Remember, Hillary said she would not turn over the server because it had personal emails on it, but then inconsistently said the personal emails were not on the server because she chose “not to keep” them.
Hillary gave away the game at that point to me.
Hillary showed a consciousness of guilt and deliberate misdirection.
Get the server.
Now the Feds will.
Hillary Clinton will turn over her private email server and a backup thumb drive to the Justice Department, her spokesman confirmed Tuesday.
The news comes just hours after the Intelligence Community Inspector General told Congress that her email server contained emails that have now been classified “top secret.”
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released two pages of the memo sent to a handful of members of Congress that confirmed the finding.
“This information revealed by the inspector general makes it even more important that the FBI and the State Department secure these documents,” he said.
“To date, the two agencies most critical to securing this information have failed to assure the American people that they are taking the necessary steps to protect America’s national security interests.”
The server has been wiped clean, according to Hillary’s lawyers. But that may not be the last word on it. The feds are extremely good at overcoming all but the most sophisticated wipes. The inspection also may reveal the timeline when the document destruction took place.
The records that were subpoenaed were electronic. That Clinton’s legal team printed them out does not remove the fact that the electronic records were still subject to the subpoena. Those electronic records would have had metadata, routing, server and other electronic information not visible once printed.
There needs to be a full and serious criminal investigation as to whether Hillary Clinton obstructed justice or committed some other crime when she not only deleted the emails, but wiped the server hard drive clean to prevent recovery of the emails.
Hillary is hiding something. We need to know what.
We need to know if a potential president is a crook.
Get the server, even if she claims it’s wiped clean. It is now evidence of a potential crime.
I ask you, who among us hasn't wiped a server clean after its contents were requested by subpoena? http://t.co/n1zhk1s1Jr

But that’s not all. There apparently was Top Secret information in the emails:

Want to bet the server is completely clean?
Unless she hired a highly competent (i.e. NON GOVERNMENT) IT professional to wipe it, then the Feds should be able to recover most of the information.
A lot of people don’t seem to understand. Just deleting and wiping a hard drive doesn’t actually clear it. The only way to truly and completely WIPE it is to delete everything, then OVERWRITE the entire drive with nonsense/irrelevant information. Then do it again a couple more times just to make sure.
Given Clinton’s blatant incompetence and obvious technical illiteracy, I’d be willing to bet heavy money that she and her lawyers just deleted stuff.
She’s in deep shit. Anybody with two brain cells to rub together could have told you it was literally impossible to act as Secretary of State for years and not send or receive a single classified document.
Now the only question is whether Obama’s DOJ hacks are willing to ‘decline to prosecute’ her. Honestly, I kind of doubt it.
Obama WANTS a Republican elected so he when Iran and the economy go bad he can wag his finger and start lecturing about how everything was sugar and rainbows when he was president and that awful evil Republican screwed it up.
My understanding was the server was being used by President Clinton’s office, his staff emails and Foundation records, etc. were on it. So to really erase her emails completely, they would have to wipe out all the President’s records as well.
Maybe not impossible, one presumes there were frequent backups, but in order to do that level of cleaning it would mean there was stuff you really, really, really didn’t want coming out, ever.
There are applications that allow a user to scrub all non-allocated sectors of a disk. They will obliterate sectors used by files no longer on the master file table (deleted files) and never-used sectors, while leaving used sectors (current files) unaffected. Running a defragmenter afterwards will also scramble things even more (but isn’t necessary if the proper tool is used initially).
Maybe not. Fox News reported tonight that Bill and Hillary did NOT use the same server. Bubba has his own server. That was a lie from the start, kind of like the video that set off the attack on Benghazi. Fairy tale.
Possible correction on your ‘Unless’ here. If the server was being backed up by an offsite archiving system such as ComVault or Carbonite, those backups may be recoverable all the way back to zero, even if the user requested that the backups be destroyed. Many small servers will use this kind of a tool to prevent data loss and allow for rollback in the event of a failure, because tapes are such a pain.
It’s really not that difficult. There’s freeware that will do it. A personal fave is “Boot and Nuke.” Burn it to a CD, boot to it, and it nukes all the hard drives on a system. Do this after over-writing all deleted files (with a program like “Eraser,” which can use any one of several levels of obliteration, including DoD-approved methods), and any drives would be toast. I’m not an IT tech, but could do these things in the time it takes for the applications to complete the tasks.
I’d be surprised if there is anything on it. It’s not that difficult to transfer records you want to keep to a new drive and just throw out the old one.
This is as icky as that stained blue dress, except that our national security is involved.
That server is probably long gone — or at least, the parts of it that store data are.
Maybe, but if it is, it required the “sweeping” of all President Clinton’s office stuff, too – they were using the server before Hillary put the State emails on it. And the Foundation’s, as well.
Could be done, but what does that tell us about how badly she needs to make sure nothing is discovered?
I suspect the lawyers just said “swept clean” to try to avoid having the fight over the server. They just deleted the emails, maybe ran a defrag program behind it.
It’s not necessary to destroy all info on a drive. Even the free file shredder programs can destroy individual files or directories. Destruction isn’t too high-tech, it’s just multiple write/read cycles for the drive clusters (a.k.a. allocation units) which originally held the file(s). Seven cycles seems to be a common choice; the most I’ve heard of is about a hundred cycles. Seems excessive, but so what—the computer’s doing all the work.
DAMN, Prof…
You told ’em, and they obeyed.
Way to go…!!!
Two thumbs up for that post Rags!

You have to wonder, tho.
If this ends Grannie’s campaign….will the Professor feel guilty?
TWO top secret emails in 3 years as Sec State? Bullshit.
“TWO top secret emails in 3 years as Sec State? Bullshit.”
No. TWO top secret emails out of a random sample of 40 e-mails supplied by Hillary Clinton.
I was thinking the “Top Secret” classification might be based on the idea that they referenced some electronic or satellite data, which could even have been mentioned numerous times in the press, but evidently this is State Department information.
It sounds like maybe two reports, which had circulated on an unclassified system in the State Department, were forwarded to her private e-mail account, one in 2009 and one in 2011. Now that is just a tiny fraction of her e-mail.
Two TS, two others classified, or one in ten of the random sample. Extrapolated to the entire 55,000, that could mean over 5 thousand classified emails.
But even at a fraction of that number, it’s a far cry from the “none” she claimed.
Papa Joe is celebrating tonight … he’s in.
Gosh, I hope this doesn’t hurt her campaign for president.
Hahahahahahahaahahahaaha…. (gasp) ….hahahahahahahaha.
LOL – but you know that was Chuck Todd’s first thought, along with most of the rest of the old media.
So they already know she obstructed justice, even if she was not successful at wiping it clean and they are in time found. It just gets deeper from there, but how far will DOJ go to prosecute, keeping in mind Lois Lerner and Fast and Furious.
They already found top secret info, and they didn’t haul Hillary off to jail, so I’m not sure what more they are waiting for. She lied, she obstructed, she broke the rules by having her own server in the first place.

Is a “gang” the same as a “team”…???
Even if Hillary & Co delete everything and them overwrite the wbole.drive multiple times with 1s and 0s, the information can still b recovered. The process of arranging magnetic patterns in the disk material is actually sloppy and leaves residuals and besides that, underneath the surface layer artifacts of old data often remains. If the investigators really want the data they can get it. It’s just a matter of how much they really want it. Imagine if the disk had child open on it. Think they wouldn’t find it? Think again. Come to think of it, maybe Bill had some fun on Hillary’s computer that needs to be protected by the enabler in chief. Anyhow, the data is there.
New hard drives for a server are cheap. This is probably what happened to the HDs that once were on Hitlery’s server:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=11&v=sQYPCPB1g3o
So I kinda sorta doubt there’ll be anything to find. Unless the Clintons are stoopider than I think they are… admittedly, they usually leave a trail of bodies, not emails, so you could be right! 😉
It wasn’t the State Department that marked them now as Top Secret, but the Intelligence Community, and the final decision on classification is up to the State Department and hasn’t yet been made.
If they really should have been considred Top Secret, then State Department personnel were routinely discussing Top Secret information on an unclassified system.
Isn’t it individual state dept employees who are tasked with classifying their own email when they use the .gov ones? So, not classifying email on a private system discussing government business is the fault of the person receiving the email, and if the content is quoted and sent to others, of the person re-sending it, etc etc. “The State Department” does not classify emails on a private system that exist without its knowledge; it logically can’t.
When that material was first sent to State, it was already classified. It can be reclassified but it was not originally unclassified.
Remember, Hillary said she would not turn over the server because it had personal emails on it
Hillary honey, that’s why you’re supposed to do all your Secretary of State business from an official government address, on an official government server: so it’s separate, and investigators can check it when they need to. It’s called… what’s that word? …Oh, yeah! TRANSPARENCY!
Hillary didn’t want to do her official government work on an official government computer because then she wouldn’t be able to hide the evidence of her malfeasance. That’s the real scandal here: Hillary knew from the start that she was going to be so corrupt and/or incompetent at her job that she couldn’t risk leaving behind a document trail. In a sane world, that fact alone would be enough to disqualify her from running for president.
Exactly! She knew it from day one. She entered that job saying, “I’m going to do things I don’t want known.”
She KNOWS that she’s corrupt.
She could have avoided a document trail for corruption, or other criminal liability, although maybe not incomptence, by using private e-mail in addition to her state.gov address, and confining all ciorrupt communications to that e-mail.
The reason for exclusively having private e-mail would have been because of the possibility that she, or someone else e-mailing to her, might slip up, and leave something on the government e-mail that would be incrimination.
Or, more sinisterly, because she intended to forward e-mail to persons outside the government, and that would be detectable, and a problem, even if she only forwarded e-mail from state.gov to her other address, and forwarded it further only from there.
What she eventually turned over to the government avoided, for the most part or even completely, turning over to the government any emails which has forwarded to an outside address.
You understand?
What she turned over, after getting the state department to agree that was all, and claiming she actually sent some non-government e-mail, was mostly or entirely e-mail to and from state.gov addresses, and maybe also to and from her aides clintonemail.com addresses, plus some turned up using a few almost certainly reverse-engineered search terms, which search terms only looked through the body of the messages, but not any attachments.
So unless she emailed to someone : “Here is this report on Benghazi” using the word Benghazi, it wouldn’t drop.
Attachments were not searched,
And who is to say that if an extremely damaging e-mail turned up in the reverse engineered search, Hillary and her lawyers simply didn’t send it to the State Department??
So, the NSA has these emails stashed somewhere, right? Can’t they provide them? Isn’t that the point in collecting all that data?
No, the point of collecting data is to catch you and me, not the special people.
Why do any of you think the original hard drive is on this server?
Even Hillary can hire people that are not stupid.
That would bring more questions, the former President’s office & Clinton Foundation records shared it. Replacing a working hard drive is hard to explain, and there has been no claim of malfunction here, just that the emails were “wiped.”
She couldn’t exactly advertise on Craig’s List: “Computer expert needed to make sure even NSA can’t read my hard drive for incriminating evidence. Top dollar, please hurry.”
Don’t underestimate the power of hubris with these people. They just never thought their word wouldn’t be enough.
Top Secret, SI, TK, NOFORN…. just the emails they found during the audit are enough to send one of the little people to a federal prison for a very long time. That level of material is NEVER transmitted over an unencrypted system.
This isn’t a game, it’s a huge security breach. I want to know when they’re going to bring charges against that incompetent broad.
Hillary will Skate. She is above the law. At least 2 of her aides will be indicted. They will take the fall for her.
I think she’ll skate too; maybe a presidential pardon, once Barry has had his fun (he’s a vindictive snake remember, & he doesn’t like Hillary at all- why else would any of this be happening?)
On the other hand, Barry may not want to get pulled down by an investigaton which would show that he knew about her illegal shenanigans all along; I very much doubt that he’s worried very much, every extralegal thing he’s done has been accepted with no pushback (thanks, Boehner, you can give the spine you borrowed back to Spongebob Squarepants now.)
On the gripping hand, moar popcorn!
SI (Signals intelligence) and TK (satellite intelligence) are indeed in special, legally distinct categories. But the IG says this was only in part. We don’t know what this amounted to. Saying something al Qaeda was overheard or a training camp was photographed may not amount to much, especially it has been widely circulated.
Maybe DOJ and the IG should just ask a favor from the Chinese government with a request for everything on that server.
….and people will STILL vote for her.
Prosecute her. Put her in JAIL.
What has been missing in this story up to now is a deceent description as to what the expectations and requirements are of people who are tasked with handling secret information and who have security clearances. The was done by the NY Post (http://nypost.com/2015/08/11/hillary-clintons-empty-excuses-on-e-mailing-classified-info/)

Given that the Chinese “Operation Dancing Panda” has been on going for five years or more and how this operation allowed them to invade and read e-mails of unsecured correspondences of our leaders, you can rest be assured that the Chinese know everything that is on those servers. What will eventually come to light is how Hillary’s mistreatment of classified material will have resulted in the leakage of more information and more significant information that any other traitor in the history of the US – Snowden and Manning included.

The real test is whether or not Clinton is allowed to get away with this. The truth of the matter is that she should either be imprisoned or shot. The reality is that this administration will decide to show how corrupt our judicial system is and allow her to walk. It is mind numbingly insane to even consider her presidential material. If she was this bad as Sec State, then how much worse will she be as president?
“The real test is whether or not Clinton is allowed to get away with this. The truth of the matter is that she should either be imprisoned or shot.”

Screwing with the FBI is not like screwing with Congress. When you do it to the FBI you get charged with destroying evidence and impeading an investigation. Remember Marth Stuart went to Prison for changing the date on a post-it note – not insider trading.
That said – Hillary will Skate. She is above the law. But look for her aides to be indicted. Maybe even her lawyer if she scrubbed the thumb drive. The over/under number on indicted aides is 2. Right now – I am taking the over.
Ah, the taming of the eschewer.

In case anyone does not know all the classification designations, here is a good description. Like someone else already noted, if you or I sent or stored a message with this kind of information in an unsecured manner, we would be in prison. Hillary Clinton doesn’t seem to have mentioned the folowing:
What Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan said about secrecy.
http://www.loyola.edu/departments/academics/political-science/strategic-intelligence/intel/secrecy-toc_files/secrecy04dpm.pdf
I think the reason is because, she, or the people working with her, actually like over-classification. She like rules that cause people to break the law – and she and Bill just gets around it.
And of course over-classification protects Tyler Drumheller and any misconduct by the CIA, like about Benghazi.
So even though, that course is open to her, she’s not taking it.
Besides, what she actually did is probably something much worse than what could be mitigated by the Moynihan report.
“She like rules that cause people to break the law – and she and Bill just gets around it.”
That’s true also for campaign finance law. That gives them an advantage over everyone else. In 1992, it actually made Bill Clinton president.
Drumheller note:
He just died!
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/10/us/tyler-drumheller-ex-cia-official-who-disputed-bush-dies-at-63.html?_r=0
I guess he can’t be subpoenaed now by the Trey Gowdy committee. Maybe his e-mail accounts will also now be inaccessible or deleted.
The assertion is he died of complications from pancreatic cancer (which is often diagnosed only a short time before death)
It’s not only the possibility that somehow the Klinton Konspiracy killed him that we have to consider.
You also have to wonder, if Sidney Blumenthal was lying when he testified that Tyler Drumheller was the real author of the e-mails he sent to Hillary Clinton.
Because he would have known he had cancer when he testified.
Here is a discussion on Facebook – that doesn’t really get anywhere)
