CHARGING IN MY GARAGE RIGHT NOW: A NISSAN LEAF. Actually, it’s fully charged this morning after about 12 hours on the 110v portable charger. No, I didn’t buy one: The Nissan folks loaned me one overnight to test-drive and blog about. I’ll post a full report later, but the short version is that it’s surprisingly roomy and quite fun to drive.
For now, I’ll have to live with this:

Be careful what you wish for: there’ve been two fires this year attributed to charging a Leaf in a garage.
Yeah, right about the fires. If you had gotten one to test drive you or the wife may have been too tired to drive it today.
One or both would have been on ‘fire watch’ during the night to possibly prevent the house from burning down. You should be thankful.
I’m betting Glenn talked Dr. Helen into ‘fire watch’ duty last night. Probably convincing her he needed to be fully rested for the test drive, etc. 🙂

Another “clean” energy, electric car? I keep slapping my forehead for skipping class the day the the earth-science professor explained just how we get “clean” electricity when we burn “dirty” coal. Is there something about copper wire which cleans the electricity?
And I agree with ClinkinKy – anyone driving a Nissan Leaf is no friend of mine.

Considering US Taxpayers funded both the R&D for it and are paying for a $7500 rebate on the sticker-price, shouldn’t Nissan be providing us ALL a Leaf to test drive for a weekend?
