Spanberger’s Most Diverse Cabinet Ever Boast Turns Into a Political Embarrassment
X users immediately noticed that 75% of her cabinet members were black … Missing entirely were any white males, Hispanics/Latinos, and Asians.
The terminally woke Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger took to X on Thursday to showcase “the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen.” She posted a photo of herself with her white chief of staff, surrounded by six black cabinet members.
The governor must have been shocked by the backlash that followed: her attempt at virtue signaling had failed in spectacular fashion. X users immediately noticed that 75% of her cabinet members were black, even though black residents account for approximately 20% of the state’s population.
Missing entirely were white males, Hispanics/Latinos, and Asians, who represent roughly 30%, 12%, and 8% of Virginians, respectively.
I’m proud to have the most talented, hardest-working cabinet in Virginia’s history. They are also the most diverse cabinet Virginia has ever seen.
Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields. They also… pic.twitter.com/gM0gRVWk0P

Spanberger deserved all the ridicule that came her way. Here are some of the responses:
Mocking the idea of “the most diverse cabinet in history,” one X user offered a “friendly reminder: when these people say ‘diversity,’ they just mean anti-White.”
"The most diverse cabinet in history…"
88% Black. Virginia is 20% black.
0% White men. Virginia is 30% White men.Friendly reminder when these people say "diversity", they just mean anti-White. https://t.co/PfqFOx8agD

@GovernorVA This is the worst case of “white savior complex” I’ve ever seen.
How embarrassing.

@GovernorVA Where’s the “diversity” you’re talking about?
You have an 86% black cabinet in a state that’s only 19% black.
You have a 0% white male cabinet in a state than 32% white male.
This may be the one of the least gender/race representative cabinets in Virginia’s modern history.

@GovernorVA Virginia is only 20% black.
Your cabinet is 75% black.
That’s 375% overrepresentation.You’ve created the most racist cabinet in Virginia’s history. https://t.co/IqtlqVrtgj

Despite the barrage of criticism she faced on social media, The Richmond Times-Dispatch was happy to carry water for the foolish governor. In an article titled “In making history, Spanberger’s cabinet defies anti-DEI fervor,” the outlet covered the group’s Tuesday visit to the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, praising her courage “at a time when diversity is under sustained attack by the Trump administration.”
Writer Michael Paul Williams noted that “diversity is flourishing in Capitol Square amid anti-DEI fervor elsewhere.” Reminiscent of all the “firsts” we heard about during the Biden administration, he pointed out that “Spanberger is Virginia’s first woman governor. Her chief of staff, Bonnie Krenz-Schnurman, is the first woman in the history of the Commonwealth to serve in that role.”
He lamented that, in his view, Spanberger’s Secretary of Health and Human Resources Marvin B. Figueroa “has attributes under siege on the federal level.”
During the visit, the governor praised Figueroa as “hands down the best applicant” for the position. After all, she said, “It also happens to be the case that he is a Black man, a Hispanic man, an immigrant, someone whose first language was not English.”
She noted he was a native of La Ceiba, Honduras. His mother worked as an educator before immigrating to the United States, where she became a home health care worker. Her son benefited from government assistance programs.
“That experience set is valuable in how he approaches his job,” she added.
But, conspicuously missing from her remarks was any mention of his education, professional background, or other credentials demonstrating his qualifications for the position.
Figueroa himself seemed oblivious to the fact that none of Spanberger’s accolades had anything to do with merit. In remarks during the lunch that followed, he said:
It’s a reminder that we probably worked twice as hard as anyone else to get this far, and that we belong here. And I think this cabinet is a direct contradiction [of] the story or the narrative that people are trying to push right now.
Do any of these people understand how ignorant they sound?
If Figueroa was “hands down the best applicant,” Spanberger should have no trouble explaining why in terms of his record and accomplishments. Instead, she offered a list of demographic attributes and called it a case for his appointment.
The racial composition of a governor’s cabinet is not something to boast about. There is no substitute for choosing members based on merit.
I’d like to say Virginians deserve better, but they handed Spanberger a resounding victory last November. It seems they’re getting exactly what they voted for.

Merit matters; nothing else does.
True in a sane world. That train left the station some time ago.
Try getting away with that in today’s real world. I dare you.
You are very Bearish today!
Bear down for midterms!
(Props to anyone who gets the reference.)
Fur sure.
b/c white people are ambitious on time hard working like to work out and some….ohhhhh nooo….. are capitalists!!! and not shy about it
so why or how can they be included with “the others” ???
BTW,, there is a Dem run PAC commercial that makes a not so veiled threat to their own voters!!!!
it says
your vote is private but after the elections your friends your family your neighbors can access public data to see if you actually voted so get out and vote
hmmmmm now why would it want to use that threat?
The Future Forward PAC is the largest Democratic Party Super PAC.[1][2] It was the Kamala Harris campaign’s main Super PAC and leading fundraising vehicle in the 2024 presidential election.[3] It set a record for fundraising as an organization not affiliated with a candidate in 2024 by raising over $950 million.[4]
It’s the same rules as Mean Girls Club.
And it’s anything but an accident.
I’ll bet her choices know enough to address the Gov. as comrade.
That photo would be great for promoting Virginia as a travel destination.
“Virginia is for dumbasses.”
The truest statement is: diversity means no white heterosexual males.
Proof positive that it’s not about competence or meritocracy, but rather her (and all democrats) desire to virtue signal that there are Black men and women on their staff or in their organization…and are therefore not racist.
Pathetic…oh…and Whites and Asians need not apply.
Nothing to do with the topic, but I did notice, Milwaukee fans didn’t burn their town down because they won a championship!
It is democract , black , so it’s surprising
But I’m from Milwaukee and I ought to know
Interesting though, Milwaukee has one of the highest murder rates
Maybe they were too busy killing each other

The majority of voters (by a razor thin margin) voted for this.
You can cry “cheating” but they didn’t cheat by a margin of 30%. In a sane world this fembot wouldn’t have gotten 20% of the total vote. Especially since the creepy “trans rights” issue was a deciding factor.
The photo triggered memories of the antebellum South and plantation life for which Virginia is so famous.
“Every single one of our cabinet secretaries were selected because they’re the best of the best in their respective fields.”
Statistically, this is highly unlikely for each appointee, and is even less likely for so many of them together to all be “the best.” White males are in the majority in most professions (and they dominate some) simply because white people are a the majority race in this country. This makes it likely that white males are in the majority in any group of “the best” in most professions (of any male-dominated profession, at least). Picking “the best” from most professions at random would almost certainly not result in most of the selections being black, as is the case here. It is more likely that some of her selections were made to favor blacks. (Disfavoring white males does not explain the absence of Hispanics and Asians, but it’s possible all three groups – I hesitate to call “Hispanic” a race – were disfavored.)
Her core constituency (Fairfax/Loudoun counties) are busy doing things like “limiting” the number of Asians in high-prestige, high-achiever prep schools, so that would be a fair bet.
“Friendly reminder when these people say “diversity”, they just mean anti-White.”
Here’s ad you’ll enjoy, the two-minute version of a plug for “Oak Street Health.” There’s not a single white male anywhere in it, with the possible exception of the gofer at 0:45 (who doesn’t appear in the more prevalent one-minute version, and frankly looks to me like he keeps halal). The single white female shows up at 0:35. Everybody else is a celebrated, iconic token of diversity.
Not only is the message I hear that I won’t be welcome there, my natural inclination is to avoid them like street preachers.
The AARP van at the very beginning was also a perfect touch.
House Slaves
It’s fairly obvious that Spanberger is owned; the only question is by who?
The Queen of Diamonds.
This mentally ill governor is full of her self. She wouldn’t know what diversity is, if it hit her in the ass.
When Biden did this in his administration to have a bunch of Firsts it resulted in the greatest most competent administration in history.
I disagree with this story. You can never embarrass a “progressive.” That said, I think the real story is that both Spanberger and the other idiot, Slotkin, are CIA alumni. The Spirit of DEI is apparently strong in the CIA. The careers of these two female dweebs (dweebettes?) shows the danger of telling mediocrities that they are smart simply because of their sex leads to very bad things, indeed.
