Russia Hits Ukraine’s Energy Grid Despite Trump’s Ceasefire Announcement
The Telegraph: “Russia attacked a power plant in Ukraine just hours after Donald Trump claimed he had brokered an energy ceasefire.”
Hours after President Donald Trump declared an ‘energy ceasefire,’ Russia continued its assault on Ukraine’s energy grid, authorities in Kyiv say.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that while his country ‘welcomed’ the announcement by Trump as ‘good news for everyone,’ Russia was still hitting energy infrastructure in Kyiv and in the city of Kharkiv,” The Associated Press reported on Monday. “The presidential office confirmed the Kharkiv attack came after Trump’s ceasefire post.”

President Zelenskyy claimed that Russia targeted the country’s energy facilities despite the partial truce announced by Washington. “According to Zelenskyy, Russian drones took to the sky “throughout the day” on Sunday. There were also “unfortunately” several airstrikes, he said, including on energy infrastructure,” The Guardian reported.
President Trump announced an energy deal on Friday that allows Russia to sell millions of tons of diesel, a move aimed at lowering rising energy prices. According to CNN, the deal would “open Russia’s taps and release hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel into a starving global market” and “involves suspending fuel export sanctions on Russia for six months to allow for diesel sales at market prices.”

Reuters reported:
Russia hit at least six energy targets during a night and morning of deadly airstrikes across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday, adding this showed Moscow had no interest in an energy ceasefire announced by Donald Trump.
Under pressure over high energy prices ahead of US midterm elections next month, US President Trump blindsided Kyiv and its European allies over the weekend by declaring that Ukraine and Russia had agreed not to hit each other’s energy systems.
“It is increasingly evident that Russia is unwilling to accept an energy ceasefire proposed by the United States and intends to continue its terrorist air attacks against our people and communities,” Zelenskiy said on X.
“This is what happens when Russia sees the prospect of higher revenues for its war machine.” (…)
Zelenskiy said Ukraine had carried out no attacks on Russian refineries overnight and was willing to agree an energy ceasefire, but only if Russia abided by it. He also said elections, suspended during wartime, could be held in Ukraine if Moscow agreed to a full ceasefire for 60 days.
Russia, for its part, said talks were ongoing about a possible energy ceasefire, and Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said further information would be revealed in due course. But he rejected Zelenskiy’s proposal for a full 60-day truce.
As Ukraine braces for the fifth winter since President Vladimir Putin launched the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have intensified their assault on energy facilities across the beleaguered nation. The campaign aims to break civilian morale by cutting off electricity, fuel, and heating as temperatures plummet.
President Trump announced the deal with Russia just as the European Union ramped up its sanctions against the regime. Germany’s DW TV reported that “The European Union has approved its largest-ever sanctions package against Moscow, targeting more than 1,000 entities tied to the military-industrial complex.”

I find this irritating. Russia has constantly been the aggressor I have no problem with Ukraine fighting back in kind. Nor should anyone else who purports to be neutral towards this conflict.
I find it irritating that the Russian Ukraine War is sucking billions of dollars out of our pockets and going in to the New World Order Elites. I blame the EU and NATO spread to threaten Russia. If Mexico and Canada where threatening us, we would have an issue with that. The War pigs are out in full force and the EU, Deep State and Ukraine and all in support of War.
Azov, a unit founded in 2014 by the neo-Nazi group Patriot of Ukraine under the leadership of Andriy Biletsky. Azov became notorious for extremist ideology, Nazi symbolism, and allegations of war crimes in the Donbas. In 2018, the U.S. Congress banned the group from receiving American weapons, funding, or training.
It is not our war. The EU can stop it.
Trump should not be announcing anything especially about Russia or its ally Iran.
I mean for real
“Despite Trump’s Ceasefire Announcement”
He seems to think somebody made him the zebra. He ain’t the zebra.
And beyond this particular report… if you’re Europe right now, you’re thinking you picked a heck of a bad time to tell NATO to go pound sand,
Our support of Ukraine is merely delaying the inevitable. Our willingness to send Ukrainian men to the meat grinder just to bog Russia down is disappointing. I expected Trump to withdraw us.
Withdraw us?
In what way? Do we have units on the ground or in the air over Ukraine? From what do we withdraw?
Withdraw our money; wasting a lot.
What money. A lot of stuff we send is old. The missiles we send are near expiration and would need to either be disassembled or refurbished, Most of what we sent was during autopen.
By the way if Ukraine wants to fight back against the Russians that is their decision. We certainly would not stand for a country appropriating our territory. Then again it seems we have considering the invasion that has occurred here and the support for it amongst our own population.

There is a site that the US Government tracks funding. I can’t post here.
I see that in the Twitter feed for that Russian missile attack, leftist morons are absurdly blaming President Trump for the war, which is utterly ridiculous, given that it was the rank incompetence, witlessness and emasculation of Obama’s and Biden’s respective foreign policies, that let Putin invade Ukrainian territory on their respective watches, without substantive punitive consequences, whether military, economic, diplomatic or otherwise.
And, NATO has been totally exposed as a sham organization. A grand military alliance, founded for the express purpose of containing and deterring Soviet military aggression, brimming with supposedly militarily powerful members, that didn’t lift a finger at the conflict’s outset, when intervention could have and would have made a difference. And, obviously, successful and credible deterrence, in the first place, would have made NATO intervention unnecessary.
Putin has exposed the notion of western military deterrence as a total farce and sham.
There was no reason why NATO should have gotten involved. Ukraine wasn’t part of the alliance.
Western military deterrence was always 90% US fighting on Euro soil, Soil that did not include Ukraine.
The myth of Russian military superiority in either men or equipment was completely punctured.
We benefited greatly by seeing what the advent of low cost drones means for the battlespace. Better we saw this in Ukraine than a war we were involved in ourselves.
Russian military adventurism might have woken up Europe. It certainly was responsible for Finland and Sweden joining NATO which I regard as a plus for once.
Any one thinking that Putin would listen to Trump should have not surprised. I wonder if the diesel deal is still going to happen? We need remove any dependence on countries out side of our boundaries for any thing.
Putin will listen to Trump but only when he views what Trump says as in his or Russia’s interest,
Talk about wanting your cake and eating it, too. Trump wants Russia’s diesel, but he also doesn’t want Putin hitting Ukraine. That’s not how it works…but good on the diesel deal.
What cease fire, lol?
Who was dumb enough to think Putin was going to help Trump before the mid terms?
I missed the part where Putin had ever agreed to this ceasefire.
Turns out, he didn’t.
And here his minions saying, “Purporting to favor long-term peace, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Monday that President Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking Russian officials do not want a ceasefire. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov downplayed the idea of a ceasefire as a mere “slogan” for defeating Russia.”
So, Trump bullied Zelensky into a suicidal agreement to stop attacking Russia’s oil refineries and announced that there was an “Energy Ceasefire” between Russian and Ukraine.
But, he never secured any such agreement from Russia.
And, within a day, Russia blows up part of Ukraine’s grid.
Russia funds their invasion of Ukraine with energy exports. By far the best thing Ukraine has done to stop the advance, and in some sectors reverse it, has been to attack Russia’s oil industry – with refineries being the best target. Ceasing such attacks will prolong the war, likely making the final deal worse for Ukraine, and will cost thousands of Ukrainian lives.
Trump only cares about winning the midterms.
Zelensky should ask him how many dead Ukrainians he is willing to trade per 1 cent decrease in diesel fuel cost.
Ukraine is far less dependent on the US now than they were two years ago. Had to be, because Trump cut off much of the funding. Really no reason to expect Zelensky to do Trump any favors to help R’s win the midterms when he knows perfectly well that he would get vastly more support if the Democrats were to return to power in the US – and he’d need D’s in full control of Congress as well as a D POTUS to get the money flowing again.
And yet, here he is, willing to pause these attacks just to appease Trump.
Probably not a bad play if he calculated that Russia would “break” the ceasefire that they never agreed to and that he could then get right back to blowing up Russia’s refineries without having had to defy Trump at all.
He’ll probably have to wait until the US midterms until resuming such strikes regardless.
This has escalated:
Despite Ukraine agreeing to Trump’s demands and Russia breaking the ceasefire (that it never agreed to), it seems Trump has cut off intelligence sharing to Ukraine.
Russia just hit Ukraine with five ballistic missiles and Ukraine had zero warning prior to impact.
Bonus: Russia has consistently targeted civilians throughout this war, while Ukraine targets Russia’s military and industries that support Russia’s military. And no one ever calls them out on this.
You forgot the part about Ukraine targeting their own civilians. That is what my friends in Odessa say.
In 2014 the Obama administration had a key role in engineering the revolution that removed Yevtushenko. Key US politicians were present in Ukraine. The ‘soft coercion’ of Biden as VP demanding the removal of a Ukrainian public prosecutor pursuing Burisma corruption as the price for one billion dollars in US aid had its covert power counterpart, and that covert power was the line of US politicians visiting Ukraine to seed the 2014 revolution with USAID and CIA funding. This is an Obama/Biden War.
