Newsom: DSA is ‘Going to be Dominant’ and a ‘Mainstream Democratic Movement’
“You can’t play in the margins anymore. The whole– the system’s broken. It’s completely unbalanced, and we can’t manage the decline. We have to completely reimagine.”
An undercover reporter caught California Gov. Gavin Newsom once again admitting that the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have a strong future in the Democratic Party.
The governor traveled to New Hampshire to campaign for congressional candidate Stefany Shaheen.
The reporter posed as a “younger voter” who wants the party to “move forward.” That means no one wants another Kamala Harris:
“We want, you know, more, I guess, democratic socialist policies. Where do you see the Democratic Party going?”
“No one is arguing to manage the status quo and fail more efficiently,” Newsom responded.
“So the DSA, the energy and the desire and demand for bold change, not incremental change, is very much going to be dominant. I mean, that’s going to be a mainstream democratic movement. Absolutely. No question about that,” the California governor said in the video.
“You can’t play in the margins anymore. The whole– the system’s broken. It’s completely unbalanced, and we can’t manage the decline. We have to completely reimagine.”
In September, Newsom did not hide the fact that the DSA shares many of the same values as the Democratic Party during an interview with PBS:
Amna Nawaz:
If you have these candidates and this platform that is clearly animating the base, energizing turnout, should more of those ideas be worked into the broader Democratic platform?
Gov. Gavin Newsom:
I think they are.
I mean, we want money out of politics. I have been supporting clean money campaigns for decades. We have a public finance…
Amna Nawaz:
But there seems to be a little distance between some leadership and those DSA candidates.
Gov. Gavin Newsom:
But not the ideas. We want Medicare. I mean, I believe in universal health care, and I believe in Medicare for all. the party does overwhelmingly, I mean, you poll people in the party. I mean, so if it’s about more money in your pocket, lowering costs, it’s about getting money out of politics, and it’s about Medicare for all, I think we’re pretty aligned.
It’s about recognizing that we have got a planet that is getting hotter and drier, and that we have got to address the issue of climate change, and we want energy security, and we want to move off fossil fuels. That’s a DSA position. That’s a mainstream position within the Democratic Party.
So I think, in many ways, it’s just a label. And it’s a familiar — forgive me. You’re talking the wrong person. It’s such a familiar label to me.
Newsom pulled back a little by pointing out how the Democratic Party has people with different views:
We called them progressives. It was the Green Party. I ran against the Green Party. It’s on the exact same platform 20 years ago. Maybe it’s because I’m from the Bay Area. Maybe it’s because from California.
And I think it’s healthy. I just think it’s — I’m not consumed by this. I don’t think there’s a great — I just — I think it’s the natural — it’s how — it’s reflected Kucinich and just aspects and component parts of our party that we have always had, and it’s a healthy dialectic within the party.
Ah, yes. The big tent! There is room for everyone, including people who hold values that go against everything America stands for.
DNC Chairman Ken Martin pushed the “big tent” strategy two weeks ago.
In other words, the Democrats have given up. They hate President Donald Trump and non-leftists too much. If they think that embracing socialism will help them then so be it.
Pathetic.

We are so doomed. And this was because neither party addressed this radicalism when it was still addressable. And yes the democrat party which at one point was sane, admittedly 60 years ago should have addressed the creeping radicalism in their midst before it became rampant. Instead in their lust for power they encouraged it and now its eating them alive.
With due respect, you can’t police the enemy rank. This is all on Democrats
the republicans did little and allowed the crazies to take over the press and the schools, They did next to nothing about immigration or the muslim issue. They are complicit.
Such a greasy, useless, and annoying fellow.
“I mean, we want money out of politics.,but just evil corporate money.
Not the good money from unions, and rich leftists, like Reid Hoffman, “Stinky” Soros & Sons, Neville Singh, and Christy Walton.”
Like Abdul, they want to say they don’t take money from billionaires while their dark money continues to come from billionaires.
Other than sartorial choices, what is the difference between National Socialists and Democratic Socialists?

What is the difference between six and half a dozen?

Big camps, though.
Interesting how that take is entirely about riding the currents in place. You’d think the mask would stay on until after the holiday.
— On the one hand, a man of no convictions — though some may be coming: I can dream.
— On the other hand, if the PolitiCritters “represent” us, we want them to be responsive to our preferences; less to their own.
The deal is something like: “You’re corrupt and venal, but we’re willing to bribe you with the attention you can’t otherwise earn yourself, if you do for us what we want.”
Similar to in my career, my deal was often: “You can pretend you are in charge, as long as I don’t have to go to the meetings.” It’s only a problem when they forget they are (barely) tolerated figureheads, and start trying to do things on their own initiative. Where’s a rolled-up newspaper when you need one?
Bad boy. Bad. Bad.
Then we should exterminate the democrat party.
The “getting money out of politics” sentiment is in large part responsible for the mess we are in.
It’s just the money from the productive part of society that they want out of politics. The DSA want that money to go to the government for redistribution
Greasy Gavin is saddling up his DSA pony to ride out of the big tent. His If you can beat them, join them attitude shows what he is really made of. It shows he doesn’t care about American values, just take the money and hope they don’t devour him.

Democrat movement.
Which is more Socialism breaking toward Communism…
Not a Democratic movement at all.
