UNC Chapel Hill to Offer Several Marxist Courses This Fall

Higher education is not teaching people about this ideology, they’re pushing it.

UNC curriculum features several Marxist courses, including class that blames capitalism for climate change
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is set to offer a number of courses this year peddling leftist ideologies such as Marxism, feminism, and more.
The school’s Curriculum in Global Studies lists two such courses that review Marxist and anti-capitalist frameworks of issues related to race and climate change.
The first, “Socialist and Decolonial Ecologies,” focuses on “the relation of capitalism and anthropogenic climate change,” as well as “Marxist and Indigenous critiques of capitalism’s responsibility for climate change.”
The course will study the aforementioned topics through an “interdisciplinary lens” that includes subjects such as “feminist geography” and “socialist economics.”
Another course, entitled “Dealing with Difference: Criminal Justice, Race, and Social Movements in Globalization,” aims to understand “how sameness and difference are used and contested globally, in particular through the criminal justice system and its intersection with race and capitalism.”
In “Ideology and Aesthetics: Marxism and Literature,” a course that is cross-listed in two other departments, students are given a “general introduction to Marxist thought with particular attention to its critical importance for interpreting the role of ideology in modern literature.”
The university will also offer graduate-level courses that criticize capitalism and promote Marxism.
The political science department, for example, offers a “Seminar in Political Theory,” which teaches varying “[s]pecial topics in political theory,” with two of the possible subjects being Marxism and socialism.
The sociology department is also set to host a “Black Feminist Theory” class, in which students are exposed to “writings in black feminist theory to critically interrogate social inequality at the intersections of racism, capitalism, and heteropatriarchy.”

“Would you like fries with that?”
The rational response to realizing that promising, ambitious, productive kids are already entirely writing off a “college education” as an option,
I’m not sure teaching types of political structures equates to criticizing some at the expense of others. But I’m still glad I cut off my donations years ago, when student protestors threw rocks through windows (at a conservative speaker, natch) and nothing happened.
