Israel Dismantles Hamas’s Billion-Dollar Terror Financing Network, Eliminates 16 Key Operatives

After eliminating Hamas’s top ‘finance chief’ Muhammad Abu Alwan in a strike earlier this week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency on Friday released operational details on how they dismantled a billion-dollar terrorism funding network used to bankroll terror attacks.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli security forces targeted Hamas’s financial lifeline, taking out 16 senior operatives. The money was being funneled into Gaza to finance Hamas “terrorists, build up its weapons capabilities, restore terrorist infrastructure, and advance terrorist plots against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians,” the Israeli military disclosed on Friday.

“Throughout the war, the IDF and ISA [the Israel Security Agency, also known as Shin Bet] struck and eliminated 16 key financial operatives who were involved in transferring funds and financing Hamas’ terror activities,” the IDF statement said.

“All of the terrorists eliminated managed fund transfers for the terrorist organization’s military activities in the Gaza Strip, totaling more than one billion dollars, using a network of dozens of money changers in Türkiye and the Gaza Strip,” the IDF statement said. “Among the senior members of Hamas’ financial apparatus who were eliminated are Ibrahim Abu Shamala, who served as the financial officer of the military wing; and Mohammed Abu Alwan, who was eliminated last Wednesday and was responsible for the funds of Hamas’ political wing.”

The “degrading” of Hamas’s financial network has “significantly impacted the military activities of Hamas during the conflict,” the IDF observed.

The IDF went public with the details of its nearly three-year-long operation after eliminating Hamas’s “finance department chief,” Muhammad Abu Alwan. The Times of Israel noted that he “served as head of the terror group’s finance department” and “directed the transfer of over a billion dollars to Hamas during the war.”

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that “the IDF eliminated Hamas terrorist organization finance department head Muhammad Abu Alwan.”

“We will continue to hunt down Hamas commanders and operatives, target its sources of funding, and destroy its terrorist infrastructure. We will not allow Hamas to rebuild its strength, nor will we stop until Hamas no longer exists in Gaza,” Prime Minister Netanyahu said in the press release.

On Thursday, the IDF killed Hamas key money launderer Jabr Moqbel in a Gaza strike. “The terrorist led the “Moqbel” money exchange network, which transferred millions of shekels in foreign currency to the Hamas terrorist organization. These funds are used by Hamas to finance terrorists, restore military infrastructure, and advance attacks against IDF troops,” the IDF informed.

The IDF reportedly targeted a vehicle in the central Gaza Strip, today, killing Jaber Muqbil.

I suspect Muqbil was involved in handling the transfer of funds to Gaza. There is a Muqbil money exchange in Gaza. And there is also evidence he was tied to it.

Israel Eliminates Hamas Commander involved in October 7 massacre, hostage taking

Earlier this week, the IDF eliminated two Hamas terror commanders, including one who committed atrocities on October 7, 2023, and kept several Israelis in captivity.

On Wednesday, armed forces “struck in the Gaza City area and eliminated the terrorist Hassan Mahmoud Siam, a commander in Hamas’ military wing,” IDF announced.

“The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7th Massacre. Throughout the war, he was involved in the holding of hostages Amit Soussana, Keith and Aviva Siegel, and Dafna Elyakim in the Gaza Strip,” the military added.
