Rutgers Planning Workshops on ‘Cisgender Privilege,’ ‘Microaggressions’

Rutgers to host workshops on ‘cisgender privilege,’ ‘microaggressions’
Rutgers University–New Brunswick in New Jersey will host several workshops this fall on “cisgender privilege,” “microaggressions,” and “marginalized identities.”
The university will offer the workshops through its Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities.
The center “promotes a supportive environment for students of all backgrounds, with a focus on gender and sexuality, while promoting both social and educational opportunities for leadership, identity, and social justice advocacy development,” according to its website.
One 90-minute workshop scheduled for Nov. 16 will teach students about the “intricacies of transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming (TNBGNC) identities.” The workshop is titled “Beyond Safe(R) Space: Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Nonconforming (TNBGNC) Identities.”
“Terminology (with the understanding that language is ever-changing) and reflective activities will be highlighted to encourage a deeper understanding,” a description states.
“Participants will confront cisgender privilege and be able to identify practical forms of allyship for people who identify under the TNBGNC umbrella,” it continues.
Another workshop, “Scarlet Knights Call to Inclusion,” scheduled for Nov. 5, will prompt students to “contribute to a just and equitable campus community.”
“Participants will identify and reflect on their salient identities from an intersectional lens, deconstruct the impact of common, negatively charged words and phrases, and identify how harmful language can create a damaging environment for all, including those with privilege,” a description explains.
The workshop will place a special focus on “microaggressions” and “ways to ally with and advocate on behalf of those who experience harm.”

Oh my, micro-aggressions is so 2016, will these people please update their rhethoric. You now need to go for marcoaggressions like calling everything a genocide, apartheid and ethnic cleansing. That is the new hottness.
