Republicans Demand Indiana U. Fire Law Professor Who Celebrated Lindsey Graham’s Death

This isn’t about comments. This law professor took the trouble to bake a cake and decorate it with a hateful message.

‘Vile’ cake backlash: Republicans demand IU boot professor who celebrated Lindsey Graham’s death
A pair of Republican Indiana U.S. representatives are demanding Indiana University fire a law professor after she sent a cake to deceased Senator Lindsay Graham’s Senate office with the message “congratudolences” on it.
According to the Indianapolis Star, Reps. Marlin Stutzman and Mark Messmer called Professor Elizabeth Booker Houston’s message “vile and cruel,” claimed it violated the IU handbook, and demanded Houston’s termination in a letter to the IU president and law school dean.
“Celebrating the death of anyone, regardless of political affiliation or ideology, is abhorrent and counter to the values of civility, respect, and basic human decency that Hoosiers hold dear,” the representatives’ letter reads. “This kind of hateful and insensitive rhetoric has no place at Indiana University and is appalling to see from someone who is employed by your institution.”
Stutzman and Messmer noted that if IU won’t fire Houston, it should answer whether it will “condemn her actions” … and if those actions “align with the university’s ethical standards and mission.”
Graham passed away July 11 at the age of 71.

Oh, geeze, here’s where my slavish devotion to the First Amendment gets me raked over the coals:
Was what that human skid mark Elizabeth Booker Houston do or say vile, despicable, and disgusting? Absolutely, 100% YES.
Should Elizabeth Booker Houston‘s social media be bombarded by those disgusted by that skid mark’s posting? Absolutely and without a doubt YES.
Should Elizabeth Booker Houston be fired because she is a disgusting excuse for a human being who obviously has no self-control and is an attention whore? NO.
What Houston did and posted online was morally wrong; she is the epitome of the Democrat party’s unalloyed hatred of anyone on the right and I would absolutely love to see Darline punch Houston’s lights out.
And as much as I hate what Houston said, the First Amendment covers her heinous words. She should not be fired because Reps. Marlin Stutzman and Mark Messmer don’t like what she wrote. However, they do have the right to demand the IU president and law school dean review Houston’s actions and public postings as to whether Houston violated the university’s ethical standards and mission and act accordingly.
