Just days after Israel officially acknowledged the existence of a specialized unit created to hunt down over 5,000 terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated two wanted Hamas perpetrators.
On Friday, the IDF disclosed the recent elimination of Hamas company commander Muhammad Mushtaha, who committed atrocities on October 7, 2023, and kept several Israelis in captivity. “The IDF now confirms the elimination of the terrorist Muhammad Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha, who was struck two weeks ago in the northern Gaza Strip,” the military said in a statement on Friday. “Muhammad Mushtaha served as a company commander in the Shati’ Battalion in the Hamas terrorist organization׳s military wing.”
“The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory and participated in the October 7th Massacre, and throughout the war took part in holding numerous hostages captive, including: Tsachi Idan, Corporal Noa Marciano, Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Ori Megidish, Naama Levy, and Matan Angrerst,” the statement added.
Readers may recall the heart-wrenching images of 19-year-old Naama Levy being dragged by her hair by a Gazan terrorist. Her blood-soaked sweatpants and visible wounds bore clear evidence of brutal torture.
In January 2025, Hamas released Naama in exchange for terrorists after she endured 477 days in horrific captivity.
On Thursday, an Israeli airstrike killed another Hamas commander who took part in the October 7 Massacre. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) “struck in the area of Gaza City and eliminated the terrorist Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kamil, a commander in the Hamas terrorist organization who infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7th Massacre,” the IDF announced on Friday. ”
Abu Kamil also held a senior position in Hamas’s “police force.” The Times of Israel reported that “the Hamas-run Interior Ministry identified Abu Kamil as Gaza’s police chief.” The terrorist group uses its so-called police and security forces to quell public dissent and eliminate opponents in Gaza.
Both of the slain Hamas commanders were plotting “advance terror attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians” when they were eliminated, the IDF disclosed.
