Former University of Cambridge Professor Jason Arday Found Dead
“The relentless accusations, speculation and public commentary have taken a profound toll on me and on those I love.”
Former University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday was found unresponsive at a location in Battersea, London, on Friday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to The Telegraph:
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at 3.12pm on Friday.
He said: “Sadly, a 41-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
“At this time his death is being treated as unexpected, but is not believed to be suspicious. The case is being investigated by officers from the Met’s Central South Command Unit. A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Arday’s death comes just one week after he resigned from the university amid an investigation into allegations that he had plagiarized portions of his doctoral dissertation and lied about his positions at previous universities.

Until recently, Arday had become something of a rock star in British academia. His remarkable rise had been widely celebrated, culminating in his appointment as the youngest black professor at the University of Cambridge — a prestigious position that seemed to confirm an extraordinary story of perseverance and achievement. He attracted considerable media attention and was held up as an inspirational figure whose accomplishments extended well beyond the academic world.
That carefully cultivated image, however, unraveled with stunning speed when allegations that he had plagiarized up to 100 passages of his dissertation began to swirl. At the same time, separate questions about claims he had made regarding his employment history and athletic accomplishments raised broader concerns about the accuracy of his public biography. Within a remarkably short period, Arday went from one of academia’s most celebrated success stories to the center of a scandal that threatened to overshadow everything he had achieved.
I covered this story here.
On August 5, the university announced it had opened an investigation into Arday’s “appointment and tenure” at Cambridge. The Telegraph reported, “It will feed into a review of the university’s hiring process for all senior academic positions.
Hours after the investigation was announced, Arday resigned. Below is an excerpt from his letter of resignation:
Sadly, the years since my appointment have also been marked by an unrelenting level of public scrutiny and personal attack. While criticism is an inevitable part of academic life, what I have experienced has gone far beyond scholarly disagreement. The relentless accusations, speculation and public commentary have taken a profound toll on me and on those I love.
Professor Deborah Prentice, Cambridge’s vice-chancellor, issued a statement that read: “We are desperately saddened to hear this tragic news. Our heartfelt sympathies go to Jason Arday’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”

F88king coward!
There was a time when resignation and suicide were considered the “honorable” thing to do in such situations.
That was a very long time ago. So far back in history that men where men and everyone knew what a woman is.
Japan.
Al Sharpton has issued a press release,
Oh, Lawdy, Lawdy! Whatever we gonna do now. The brilliance, the scholarship, the inspiration to millions!
It now b all gone. And who dun dude this?
All ’em white crackers.
We much, ado about much that we… blah blah.
Tell us again, Uncle Al, how you saved Tawana Brawley.
perhaps the dink! of a dying smoke alarm battery caused his death.
Not sure what is sicker, this comment or the fact that 12 people liked it.
They will try to blame the people who exposed him for his death. From where I stand the people to blame other than himself are the people who promoted him even with his obviously fraudulent past.
This is the ultimate in not taking responsibility for his actions.
Instead of being a man and owning his actions he took the easy way out to avoid responsibility for his actions.
But he has taken responsibility for his actions, and that responsibility is exacting a very hideous, and eternal, result. He would have been far better off had he stuck it out here. At least he had a chance to repent and make peace with God. It’s much too late now.
Amazing what racism does to people’s judgment. These white supremacists propped him up, excused all manner of malfeasance, all because they thought him inferior but were terrified of anyone finding out. Democrats with more blood on their hands.
When you fly high deserved or otherwise a crash will be spectacular.
Should have watched Gutfeld, who suggested to claim it was all a project to show just how out of it the leftist educational establishment is. They will swallow anything for “virtue.” His book must be a real doozy!
I imagine we are about to see a frenzy of money getting clawed back. We should just call him Professor Chum at this point.
he won’t be doing any talking now
Are we sure he didn’t fake this as well?
Pretty tragic. Two kids and a wife impacted by this. I do feel terrible for them.
I also remember a few suicides following overly zealous J6 prosecutions. Those were tragic too.
Graves are not for dancing.
Welp. He’s clearly mental. Those who elevated him to such heights couldn’t have imagined he’d fall like this right? And he had a family.
It didn’t have to end this way.
I wonder if his epilepsy was a lie or not. I have seen it take a profound mental toll on ones grip on reality.
A female student a few years back was living in an academic building claiming to be homeless and that her parents didn’t want anything to do with her. None of it was true and she had exactly zero to gain by lying. The seizures just messed with her conscious perception of reality…was really sad.
Likeliest cause of death: Suicide.
Second most likely cause: Accidental OD.
Least likely (but not impossible): Murder by Cambridge faculty outraged that he made the school look bad.
Only that he got caught.
Rumor has it the suicide note was written by AI.
And signed “Ernest Hemingway.”
This makes me hopeful that we will get a Christmas Special episode of Professor T.
Tragic news from the music world
Justin Beiber was found alive in his hotel room
Leave It To Beiber.
I hope he found an original way to go. It’d be too ironic if he plagiarized to the very end.
Truly classless.
Okay – Ordinarily I wouldn’t respond, but what did he do, other than the act of dying, that makes him worthy of sympathy or respect? My spiritual perspective believes that humans have free will. Of course they can be coerced into actions against their will but that was not the case here. He was not a victim. He could have stopped at any time even without revealing his lies to that point.
However, being rewarded, he sought further rewards. He spun wilder and wilder fantasies and got a biscuit for every one. Now, if, at his exposure, he had said, “I can’t believe how far I rode this – I was toying with revealing that I’m really a Martian to see if they’d swallow that . I could respect him. He didn’t kill himself from shame. Had he any shame, he’d have stopped long before. He killed himself because he was no longer the adored Jester Yes, jester.. That is how the elite at Cambridge treated him, to be amused by his antics. They dressed him in silk and robes and seated him at the table to see what he did next. Had they respected him as a human, they would have said, “Stop this nonsense; you’re acting the fool.” and early on. Instead, they encouraged him. They will toil hard and hot in Hell for that, but nonetheless they did not force him. They did assume him to be as clever as a chimp or a dog, but unless you’re telling me the most intellectual men in Britain believed every tale he told, they were watching a pet perform tricks, I assign him intelligence, and I assign him free will. Given that I do not find him worthy of being treated with dignity.
The above somehow makes your original comment not truly classless?
I have explained my position – explain yours.
Really? You really need an explanation? That explains a great deal.
Laughing at death is one of the most human acts there is. The guy dug his grave with a stilen shivel and now he fills it.
Laughing at death is not the same thing as mocking someone’s death by suicide. You’re confusing gallows humor with malicious, classless mocker.y. Where are you clowns coming from? Bluesky?
He was a deeply flawed human being. Aren’t we all?
He was enabled by a bunch of self-centered people who thought they were helping him. They put him in an untenable position.
I pray for his soul and those who loved him. The fires of h_ll will deal with the sanctimonious SOBs who put him in a situation where common sense would indicate that he was doomed to fail.
My guess is that nary a one of those b_stards feels ANY sense of personal responsibility.
It had a choice in this which you apparently don’t believe
He plans to rise on Sunday so he can add it to his resumé.
Attention Jayson Blair. Attention Jayson Blair.
Arday was a con artist enabled by highly educated idiots to satisfy their smug sense of superiority. And now it’s other people’s fault he decided to self delete after being exposed.
I swear. Was anything this 41-year-old man did his own fault?
He wasn’t even a con artist. That implies that he actually put some kind of thought and effort into what he was doing.
He was just a lying clown that told the most laughably obvious lies on top of each other, and yet got away with it for YEARS because he just screamed RACISM and HARASSMENT at the slightest pushback and leftist morons in the UK were only too happy to oblige him.
In other words, the UK’s Emperor Norton.
Accountability is kryptonite to some, especially those unused to being scrutinized or told no.
He gamed DEI well…. but he couldn’t game reality when it came knocking.
And, Claudine Gay is still at Harvard and got a pay raise after resigning as president. She earns (is paid) $1,550,00o per annum for working part time.
Dont wish this on anyone, he could have disappeared and reappeared later, contrite and moved forward with his life
Suicide is rarely if ever the answer
I don’t think quietly disappearing was an option for someone like this. His entire existence was wrapped up in receiving adulation/praise regardless of whether it was deserved for his performance/behavior. As soon as scrutiny was applied and skepticism quickly turned into criticism (mostly focused on those who enabled the farce) he seemingly collapsed.
Folks who go through a long period being given unearned praise and falsely told they are beautiful, special, unique, talented tend to hit a serious mental wall when they encounter someone who tells them the truth, often for the first time, that are not. They either gotta muscle through the shock with mental toughness few of them possess, internalize the truth to recalibrate their entire sense of self or they flip out and become aggressive to the truth tellers or engage in self harm.
His tool box for life was empty.
As a an Engineer friend called it, “A permanent solution to a temporary problem.”
This entire scandal never should have happened. But the faculty at each stage of his career enabled him to live in a fantasy world, a world a merit-based system would have exposed.
The faculty and administrators at Cambridge were the worst, They lauded, celebrated and encouraged him, never calling him to account . . . at least not until he had become as disposable as a used piece of toilet paper.
Arbray’s certainly guilty of many offenses and deserved to have been held accountable for his fraud and lying.
But those “educational” institutions and their faculty and administrators have blood on their hands. They averted their eyes because it was to their advantage, they thought, to do so.
But none of them will own up to their complicity. T
They’ll repeat the attitude and behavior of the Duke U. faculty and administration when the Duke monsters could no longer ignore their own complicity in the Duke LaCrosse non-scandal scandal.
They collectively shrugged their shoulders and angrily declared: “Whatever.”
Reading the story of Arday’s death on the BBC website and you would think the only scandal was his plagiarism. They won’t admit much of his life was a lie.
So true. Cambridge is like so many other universities. Fools mostly.
He discovered he couldn’t live up to his lies. The DEI enablers helped create Arday’s story but they will learn nothing from it.
The entire Arday story reminds me of how the enlightenment treat trans (fake) people.
Trans Health Care Providers: Instead of letting the sick person know they are delusional, the enlightened affirm something that is impossible.
Arday: The educational community kept on affirming everything, without any reality or commonsense checking.
I am sorry for his family
wife and kids … they will wear
this mark forever.
as to what caused this …
“be sure your sin will find u out.”
This wasn’t an overnight operation. It was a series of steps, and I suspect that most were opportunistic. I see it as a combination of “Forrest Gump” and “Being There.”
The book that they don’t want you to read is the one where it details how they pulled this off, and which people along the way raised questions and had to be threatened to step in line. It reminds me a bit of how the Gibsons debacle started, because there was a week long period right at the start where I am certain that a bunch of people were crafting and manipulating the whole event for their own purposes. We know that the shoplifters were coached by outside influences who sought to shape and redirect the narrative.
I am shocked to hear that he had a family and children. How wide ofr a con was he running. You’d hope that someone close to him would call BS on the incredulous stories, but it may be the case of two sick people meeting up where each has low enough self-esteem to tolerate the other person’s BS.
The part of this which annoys me the most is knowing that while very very flagrant, it is not an isolated case, and in each instance a more qualified and competent person was overlooked. The DEI forces at my former school decided to institute gender parity, as were many other schools, and then ended up being saddled which a whole slew of under qualified people to check the boxes, to the point where the director of research publically said “screw it, I can’t work here because there is no lateral support network.”
Then there is the obvious virtue signaling, which in this case is just overt reverse racism (which by their definition isn’t). The only positive here is that he was in a BS field where he could only do limited damage. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t spread into serious areas.
I did a google search on a person who was involved in a fake credentials scam back in the mid-80’s. As far as I can tell, it is like the guy never existed as he was quietly wiped from the public record. The best I could do is find a few papers that referenced his work, but the story I was given by a close associate at the time is that he was given the personal contents in his office and told to not breathe a word of this to anyone or the wrath of God would come down on him. The lesson to be learned is to always make sure that the person you are actively screwing over has more to lose than you do. That makes me think that they knew about Arday and that he had them over a barrel thinking the fallout would be worse for them. Who here thinks that it wasn’t just Arday, but the higher ups a Cambridge as well, who sicked the po po on the reporter? Some strings were definitely pulled, and I bet fun stuff would happen if a civil action against the po po were opened. Cambridge may think that with Arday gone it will just disappear, but I suspect that they lost their only Fall Guy and the effects on them will be long lasting. Anyone notice how Oberlin is dropping by a few spots every year in their national ranking? Time wounds all heels.
Alas, the STEM programs have been polluted by it as well. Such attitudes poisons the entire institution.
Meanwhile claudine gay at harvard is still making $900k salary as professor?
Under Arday’s religion race baiting makes the world go round, and the worst sin is if you fall too far in status.
In mine god teaches against such views, sees cheating as wrong and suicide as a mortal sin.
Arday was a man who may have been a little bit less gifted at propaganda than his peers (which is why he plagiarized) but he is an accurate reflection of their religion.
