Desperate Democrats Try Running Away From Hasan Piker as Controversies Grow
“Please ignore the virulent antisemite we all let in the house and who is now wrecking everything.”
Democrats didn’t build the Hasan Piker monster, but their socialist wing embraced him wholeheartedly for political gain in 2025 and 2026, and now it’s come back to bite them in the you-know-where in certain key races ahead of the midterms.
Obviously, in deep blue cities like New York, an association with the antisemitic Twitch streamer is not necessarily going to be viewed as a liability by voters, as we saw with then-mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, a prominent DSA member who broke bread and shared some laughs with Piker on his way to getting elected mayor. They reportedly are still friends.
The same held true in the Democratic primary for Colorado’s deep blue 1st Congressional District, where DSA member Melat Kiros easily defeated 15-term incumbent Rep. Diana DeGette in late June after also receiving campaign support from Piker.
But as we’ve heard often in recent weeks, Michigan is not New York. And DSA-backed Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, who had multiple appearances with Piker, including one the day before the primary, is now trying to create distance between himself and Piker as he grows more incendiary and amid growing concerns from fellow Democrats that it’s going to cost them that Senate seat – and any hopes of retaking the upper chamber.
Here’s Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-06), for instance, one of the most well-known Democrats in Michigan and who, in certain circles, is viewed as a “voice of moderation” within the party. Dingell, who seemingly was fangirling a little bit over Piker a few weeks ago as she praised him for his physique (!) and ability to grow a large audience, is now lashing out over being asked questions about Piker, as seen this week during a campaign appearance for El-Sayed:

Too late; the radioactive rhetoric has escaped the containment vessel and now all Democrat candidates will be peppered with questions about their support of Piker and his demands to ‘Kill the Jews’. (The questions won’t come from the Lords of Journalism but from Republican candidates.)
Democrats do a lot of running away, from everything. Some of their state legislators run away to other states to avoid tough votes that will expose them for being….Democrats. Sometimes their caucus in Congress runs away from votes they don’t want to take so they flood out of the Capitol building onto the steps to demonstrate they they really are afterall…Democrats.
This is silly to me. They have courted his type for over a decade. This is the person they wanted voting Democrat. He has pull within the DSA, he is not a political tastemaker. He is a social media grifter riding a wave.
And besides, most people do not know or care about this clown. Talking about him as some form of anomaly is a waste of time. The entire blue base promotes divestment and is soft on antisemtism. That is not Piker’s doing, that’s just the state of play.
