The Olive Garden Pasta Pass Stumbles Into the National Debate Over Voter ID

“Finding out that Olive Garden has better security than American elections was not on my bingo card!”

If I had a top five list for the issues Democrats lie about the most, voter ID would be on it.

They’ve been dishonest for decades about what voter ID does and does not do, the supposedly “negative” impact it will allegedly have on certain communities, and about the level of support it has maintained among nearly all voting blocs despite their near-constant demagoguery on the subject.

In March, for instance, CNN data guru Harry Enten put a finer point on it:

“So the bottom line is this: voter ID is not controversial in this country. A photo ID to vote is not controversial in this country,” he continued. “It is not controversial by party, and it is not controversial by race. The vast majority of Americans agree with Nicki Minaj that in fact you should have a photo ID to be able to vote.”

So as the debate on Capitol Hill has intensified over the SAVE America Act ahead of the midterm elections, conservatives on X couldn’t help but be amused by a random tweet from the Olive Garden restaurant on the ID requirements for their Never-Ending Pasta Pass in response to someone who wondered if the pass was just good for an individual or the whole family:

As one might imagine, conservatives had a field day over the tweet. The responses were absolutely hilarious and yet infuriating at the same time:

The Trump White House even got in on the action:

“Olive Garden takes their Pasta Pass security more seriously than Democrats take election security,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital. “It’s sad but true. The SAVE America Act is a commonsense policy, supported by the vast majority of Americans, that will secure our elections for generations to come. The only people opposed seem to be Democrats in Congress… I wonder why?” she added.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller:

“We’ve reached a point in society where access to fettuccine at Olive Garden is vastly more secure than deciding who is Commander-in-Chief!”

As President Trump would say: Sad!

This sounds crazy, but the Olive Garden has just inadvertently given Trump and the GOP probably its most relatable and understandable argument about photo ID, the SAVE America Act, and the necessity of securing our elections. Look for it to make its way into debates and in campaign ads in some way as Republicans keep up the pressure on Democrats to once and for all get this done.

Olive Garden takes pasta pass security more serious than Democrats are taking election security!

That’s because when unauthorized hordes access Olive Garden Pasta, they lose money, whereas when they access Democrat ballots, they gain money.
