Rhode Island Democrat Lawmaker Posts Ominous ‘Day of Reckoning’ Tweet About ICE

I think at this point that it’s pretty clear there are elected Democratic officials in this country who don’t give a rat’s patootie whether their incendiary rhetoric about federal immigration enforcement officers will be used as inspiration by the radical left to commit violence.

That certainly appears to be the case with Rhode Island state Rep. Enrique Sanchez (D-Dist. 9, Providence), who, over the last year and a half, has made it his mission to try and thwart the Trump administration’s immigration policies, especially when it comes to deportations.

For instance, a year ago, he posted the following tweets about “Nazi Gestapo ICE thugs” who were in Rhode Island and arrested one of his “neighbors”:

What Sanchez left out was why the “neighbor” was being arrested, according to ICE sources who spoke with Fox News at the time:

ICE was targeting a Honduran known MS-13 gang member, IVAN RENE-MENDOZA MEZA, who had pending local charges in RI for fentanyl trafficking and had been released from local custody with ICE’s detainer ignored due to sanctuary policies. I’m told it was the 6th District Court in RI that ignored ICE’s detainer. When ICE agents attempted a traffic stop to arrest MENDOZA MEZA, he struck ICE vehicles before bailing out of his car and running into an apartment. He was surrounded and eventually surrendered. I’m told it was ICE vehicles and his own car that were damaged.

Sanchez didn’t care, though. He’d already set the twisted “Nazi” narrative, and he was committed to seeing it through:

“I’m willing to accept my mistake or my error of maybe you know not mentioning that, or defending someone who was dealing with drug trafficking, but in the meantime, I can’t stay quiet about this [I.C.E. presence in Providence],” said Sanchez. “I don’t hold back my words on how I label the ICE officials….If you choose to not believe history, or watch history, or read history, then that’s your problem. But when you do the compare and contrast of the situations in the 40s to what we’re dealing with now, it’s the same thing.”

For a guy who had previously declared he’d do “everything in my power” to protect criminal illegal aliens,  it wasn’t exactly a surprise:

Two weeks later, Sanchez amped up the rhetoric, tweeting that “It will be soon the day that I confront these Nazi ICE thugs in person for terrorizing our communities. It will be a day of reckoning and no going back.”

Not surprisingly, DHS responded accordingly:

He’s also posted in the past about being willing to “get arrested and prosecuted” and even “go down” in confrontations with ICE agents if it meant protecting his “neighbors”:

Here we are in 2026, and nothing has changed about Sanchez. If anything, he’s gotten worse in his anti-ICE ranting and raving:

DHS has again pushed back, pointing to “neighbors” of Sanchez’s who they’ve taken into custody:

Though Sanchez has talked tough on his social media platform, posting things that some would argue crossed the line into an actual threat, the only thing he’s ever been arrested for in recent years was an incident in early 2025 where he was pulled over on suspicion of driving drunk:

Between Sanchez and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, obviously Democrats aren’t sending their finest to serve in government… or maybe they are, and this is it. Sad.
