NCAA President: Org’s National Standard on Males in Female Sports Usurps State Laws
Except the NCAA’s policy language isn’t clearcut…
NCAA president Charlie Baker doesn’t think the organization needs to tweak its policy on males in female sports after the Supreme Court ruled that states can have laws keeping female sports female-only.
In other words, the ruling doesn’t nullify laws in blue states that allow this outrageous behavior.
“I had said to folks, Democrats and Republicans in Washington, after I got this job, that we needed some sort of clarity around what the national standard for this would be, and we adopted and comply with the standard that was put forth by the Trump administration,” Baker told Ed O’Keefe on Face the Nation. “I think what happens at the state level is a different question. Although, I do think our national standard is going to be what we expect our schools to use with respect to eligibility issues for college sports.”
First of all, the NCAA does not have a policy that outright bans males from participating in women’s sports. It does not align with President Donald Trump’s executive order.
The policy (emphasis mine): “The new policy limits competition in women’s sports to student-athletes assigned female at birth only. The policy permits student-athletes assigned male at birth to practice with women’s teams and receive benefits such as medical care while practicing.”
Assigned at birth. Why is that important?
The District of Columbia and around 30 states allow you to change your sex on your birth certificate.
Second, the press release announcing the policy literally says, “NCAA schools are subject to local, state and federal legislation and such policy supersedes the rules of the NCAA.”
In other words, everything about the policy contradicts what Baker said to O’Keefe.

Watching this evolve. I was a 3x NCAA All American. I’ve seen the good and bad. I have no love for many of the coaches at the NCAA level. From what I experienced, many of the coaches would gladly take a guy and put them in the women’s locker room if it meant they could have an athlete on the podium. In fact they’d bump off their entire female team to do this.
They aren’t there to protect girls. They are there to win.
Now I’m coaching my own daughter. She’s not of my caliber but is improving. Going in a rising freshman, she’s at the level now where she “might” make varsity. Her team is extremely talented and will likely win state- mostly with a team of super talented freshman. So seeing males come in and bump girls in my daughter’s position off the team and/or the podium hits home.
Incidentally- the boys team has a dude who dresses as girl. This is Tennessee to they don’t let the BS of him competing as a girl fly, but that safety is out the window as soon as you cross the border into Virginia.

There are men, there are women. And there are medical exceptions to the rule that are vanishing small in occurrence and deserving of empathy.

Not sure how big a deal this is. When I was in college, the practice squad for the women’s basketball team was men. They got a group of guys who didn’t make the men’s basketball team and had them practice against the girls to make the girls better. The guys would even receive a monogram in women’s basketball. Not sure if they could get a scholarship or financial aid. But they would certainly be able to visit the trainer and the athletic tutors.
Most “boys'” and “men’s” teams have been officially open to girls and women for decades. Title IX created a “separate and equal” situation that made it possible to make teams because they were all female, rather than being out-competed for positions by males. Boys and men who consider themselves female can always try out for the male teams, and would be welcome on them should they demonstrate sufficient proficiency so as to make a team. There is no need to cater to their delusions.
That’s not what they were doing. It has nothing to do with the trans nonsense. The men were men. They knew they were men and never said otherwise. They were vastly superior basketball players to the women. They served as the practice squad to make the women better because they were better than any team the women would ever play. They didn’t get to go play in actual games or anything. But they were considered part of the team and received the same benefits.
NCAA is like the YMCA and Boy Scouts of America, dead. They exist in name only except in their heads.
